I have had Tanya dry clean, alter, and custom make my clothes for 11 years, thus a little surprised on a few of the reviews.
I only bring my good dry cleaning here — embellishments, detailed stitching, expensive fabrics, etc and NEVER had an issue of damage.

I would highly recommend Tanya to anyone needing a tailor in the Chicago area! Tanya did an amazing job on hemming my dress that I wore to my brother’s wedding. The price for the hemming was very reasonable. The staff at the store are kind and helpful. I will be coming back!

This place is definitely rip off. You will get a groupon deal worth of 30 $ but they will over charge you bcz you are a groupon customer. When you look at the recipe you don’t see how much you get charge for what. I don’t reccommend this place at all. There are many options in the area. Be smart, if you don’t want to over pay

Way too expensive especially when I mentioned a Groupon. Immediately went to another tailor in the area (which had high scores on Unilocal) and I was quoted exactly half the price.

Love this place! Alterations were fantastic — and here’s why.
First, they were impeccably sewn. My mother sewed all of my costumes growing up (I was in musicals/​plays) and her own wedding dress, as well as many other projects. I have an eye for good work in tailoring and sewing, although I can’t execute it myself (yet!).
I took in a dress that needed taken in at the chest/​waist — or so I thought! The seamstress immediately pulled up my straps, changing the entire fit of my dress and solving the gap around my ribs and back. It was like magic. She immediately knew that the bust line needed moved up on my chest, which corrected so many other flaws.
She also complimented the dress choice (a bridesmaid dress for a friend’s wedding) and was in love with the dress. I knew she would take special care.
My husband is now losing weight rapidly and will need her services in the near future. Can’t wait to go back!

Very nice staff here. They are excellent seamstresses, and I have had quite a few alterations done here. Every time, I get my items back exactly how I wanted them.
I took two dresses in last week, and asked for the hem to be altered and new straps to be added. She said it would be done in a couple of days. I came back, and both dresses looked perfect. A hem was $ 25 per item, which I think is fair for huge, chiffon dresses.
Can’t speak to their dry cleaning, but their alterations are AWESOME.

I was going to an interview and I needed tailoring done within one day. I came here and they totally fixed my suit and pants. It was ready first thing in the morning. I was so happy with the service, the workers there, and the suit was perfect. I will bring all my suits and pants here. Excellent!

Such wonderful, warm, and talented people! I came here to get a custom dress made out of a retired sari. Tatyana was fantastic. I sent her a picture of the design I wanted, and it was no problem. And they did it in less than a week! This woman can do ANYTHING. Also, while I was getting measurements taken, my boyfriend was able to look at several custom-​tailored options for his wardrobe. Many of my friends recommended this place when I was looking for recommendations, and now I understand why. This is my go-​to place from now on.

This is a really good tailor, fast and worth paying a few bucks extra for, they know you after a few visits and do a great job. The owner Tatyana is extremely nice and gracious. They also do next day dry cleaning for cheap. Go here — you’ll be happy with results.

Great place for alterations and dry cleaning. When I was closer to them I use to get my clothing dry cleaned and they did good work.
As far as alterations, this is the only place for me. I barely find a suit that fits proper right off the rack and that’s okay because I can always rely on Joe and Harveys. They are not the cheapest, not that I know what is a good price for alterations are but the end result of their work make my suits look tailored made. The ladies are always pleasant and I get my garments back in a timely fashion.

I was afraid of how difficult and expensive my curtain project would be. And Tanya made so easy, affordable and enjoyable. She took me to a fabrics wholesale shop, were she allowed me to additionally use her trade discount and helped me pick out the right fabrics. She is extremely nice, personable and knowledgeable.
Then she allowed me to use one of her designers Akyl, and he drew several proofs for me of what I imagined and wanted the drapery to look like. He is so very talented & sweet. So he magically transposed my abstract vision into reality, then came to my house and did all the work, including putting up rings, hooks and all needed hardware.
I have never encountered such outstanding value add and customer service in any of my previous projects, as I encountered at Joe & Harveys Tailor & Cleaners.
Akyl’s design creativity and actual physical help with draping, installation and basically leading my entire project was more than I could of wished for.
So if like me you have a vision for something that involves fabrics or sewing — do come here, you will be very happy you did :)

The worst company I have ever done busines with. Please please please stay away. I cannot emphasize this enough. They ruined my suit and tried to make it my fault. Wouldn’t give a single cent of my money back.

Dry cleaning, tailoring, and questions are all handled wonderfully. Tanya was able to alter 6 pair of pants and save me quite a lot of money in the process. Shirts are perfect, garments are razor-​creased, and price isn’t bad for a neighborhood store. I was running late one night after work and called — they stayed 15 minutes past close so I could pick up my stuff.

GREAT spot for dry cleaning, alterations, and even custom-​made clothing! I found this place when I worked nearby, but will continue to go back for my higher-​end clothes even though I changed jobs. They have taken in several of my suits, restitched cashmere sweaters, and added boning and elastic into a black tie strapless dress — all flawless work!
They can also do custom clothing. They made 2 pairs of linen pants for my very tall, thin husband. They had great recommendations on where to go for fabric, the type of fabric to buy, and decisions on design/​features for the pants. They also made alterations to my husband’s tuxedo that he was very happy with.
Overall, great service and expertise. The best tailoring work I’ve found in Chicago!

This place is great. Their dry cleaning is reasonably priced and everything seems very professional, like they have been doing this for a long time. I had them patch some holes in a pair of slacks and the work was flawless. I was a bit surprised by the price at first but after inspection of the work I knew I had just payed someone who had been honing their skills for several decades. Everything I have goes here.

I like this place. However, I want to like this place more than I actually do because, for one I’m all about supporting the locals, and two, these guys (although I’ve only seen female employees) have been at the same spot since I was a kid growing up in Rogers Park.

I went here for the first time in 7^th grade to get a white dress-​up shirt dry cleaned and get some patches sowed onto a zip-​up hoodie, so that would make me a customer of this place for 11 years now. Until a few years ago, this place was located on a pretty nasty block in terms of gang loitering. It happens to be next door to a massive apartment complex so I can see how the success of the business outweighs any potential social impediments towards attracting and keeping customers and clients. The neighborhood has since cleaned up quite a bit over the years in terms of safety,
When I was younger I was always coming in to get a shirt cleaned here and there, my name and jersey number on the back of sports jerseys and practice uniforms, patches on backpacks and jackets, and maybe a button or two replaced on shirts and khaki shorts. The prices were reasonable, they did good work, and I was able to pick up my stuff in short time.
I went in a couple times over the last 2 months. I got 4 shirts and a pair or slacks dry cleaned, an a patch sowed on a hat and t-​shirt. They did a great job on the shirts and slacks and they prices were marginally fair, but not what I was used to. 3 of the shirts turned out fine, but the collar and wrists on the fourth black shirt faded a bit.
The patches were $ 10 a piece. It took 2 days for them to do it, when it’s realistically about 2 minutes of actual labor. I could have easily done it myself and walked out, but I committed to the service before inquiring the price. I was really baffled at $ 10 each when I supplied the patches. When I got my name and wrestling weight class sowed onto my «team illinois» shirt in high school, I brought the shirt and they supplied the materials for an overall (I believe) either $ 12 or $ 15 fee and got it done next day.
I get the inflation principle and recognize home washers and driers are evolving with technology, but geez, $ 10 for a patch no bigger than the back of my palm? What the hell?
The staff members aren’t, I guess you’d say, the «sweetest» or most interpersonal bunch, but they are always respectful, professional, and generally polite. They work in a condensed, relatively high-​volume alteration and dry-​cleaning shop– can you blame them?
If you live in the area, I vouch for them and say go support the business when you can. Drop a button-​down shirt off on the way to the beach, Loyola Park, or a little league game across the street. For the most part, they’ll take care of you.
I’d say keep a back-​up just in case.

$ 31.00 for replacing a zipper for my parka coat and having it come apart a year later. I find out from a quality alteration place in Hyde Park that this tailor didn’t use the right zipper made for coats and jackets. Never going here again.

I’ve only had success here, great neighborhood place.
They do a great job on dry cleaning men’s shirts — less than 2 $ (I dont know whats cheap or typical). They also do a great job dry cleaning my sweaters, scarves and dress pants.
I have had them hem probably 3 pairs of pants that were too long, they always do a great job. $ 15 bucks to hem — that might be a bit expensive, but I don’t mind.
Just today I picked up a beautiful pair of dress pants that were at least 1 size too big. I hardly ever wore them and now that they are too big I was worried a perfectly beautiful pair of herringbone dress pants would go to waste. Took these into Tonya, she took in the waste and did a PERFECT job. The pants fit great, the butt is not baggy anymore (yayyyy!) and the legs are not too wide anymore.
These pants are like new again, perfect fit — pressed and cleaned beautifully. Since they have successfully taken in pants for me now I know I can trust them with more serious needs and will keep going here as long as I live in the neighborhood!

Definitely won’t be going here again. $ 36 to dry clean and tack on three buttons to my coat as well as hem one inch for my bf’s pants. I don’t know if that’s normal here in Chicago but in NY that was incredibly expensive. On top of all of that when I collected the pants you could see the stiching. Won’t be going back here.

I came here to have my (very simple, tea-​length) wedding dress altered. I originally was thinking that it would be «easier» to go to David’s Bridal (where I bought the dress) and have them do it, but as I don’t have a car, I quickly realized that there’s nothing «easy» about getting to the DB’s on Elston, much less with a dress, shoes, and special stick-​on bra cups in tow.
So, I saw Joe’s Cleaners during a run with a big ol’ wedding dress in their front window. (There is a cleaner’s a little closer to my place but they looked a little seedier and didn’t advertise «wedding alterations» like Joe’s.) I dropped off my dress on Monday, specified that I only needed it let out a touch (a tricky procedure with my dress as there is a ribbon all around it without a seam), and left. The women I dealt with on Monday were nice but a little brusque.
I picked up the dress on Friday and it was great! Pressed and let out! And for only $ 35!!! Tanya helped me and she was very nice and helpful. GO HERE YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT.
