Really cold, terrible menu, refills are 50cents, CASHONLY, needs a major upgrade place looks like 1930“s. First and last time time coming here don’t recommend! Dirty kitchen, over exaggerated for no reason absolute shit hole first and last time coming here!

Best cheesy beef in the city. Get the sweet and hot peppers combo and have that bad boy dipped.

It doesn’t matter how many times I eat here I never get tired of their Vienna beef hot dog w/sauerkraut. The Vienna beef hot dog cooked in hot water with the perfect snap of the hot dog casing as you bite into it coupled w/sauerkraut delicious. Jeff’s Red Hots also has the perfect fries cut thin, salted and fried to perfection every time. There’s nothing fancy just perfect F-in fries every time. No matter how many places I have eaten at I always find my way back here for the fries & hot dogs

Ok why 4 stars for an average fast food restaurant? Simple.. They do things right. Hamburger well done? You got it. Extra relish on that hotdog?? No problem. It’s nice to get what you ask for and be served with a smile. I especially like the gyros … they slice the meat thin and layer on the pita it’s juicy, flavorful and topped with a good serving of the cucumber sauce(l’m getting hungry just writing this review). I’ve eaten there several times over the years and I have never been disappointed. I would recommend this restaurant.

Had the polish, nothing special that every other hot dog joint doesn’t by from the same supplier. The bread i had with the polish didn’t seem that fresh so over all would i go back, probably not wasn’t that impressed and the parking is horrible.

Wonderful place. Been coming here for over 10 years and it never seems to disappoint with very cheap prices. I absolutely love their double cheese burgers and hot dogs. Great service and very friendly.

Jeff’s Red Hots is a Portage Park represent. It’s located on Cicero, near the Six Corner. Based on their stellar Unilocal rating, I know many see Jeff’s as an old friend, part of the family, and their childhood memory. This evening was my first time visiting Jeff’s Red Hots. Although Jeff’s didn’t stimulate nostalgia, it could be on my «dog-joint» rotation when I’m on the go in the city. Having a great credit history doesn’t get you a hot dog meal here at Jeff’s, so bring some cash or use their ATM onsite if you’re willing to pay for the transaction surcharge. Hubby and I had the two(2) dog combo(fries were included) and one(1) fountain drink, for $ 11. I had to say that they weren’t the best I’ve ever had, yet they were a solid B plus in my book. For something that tasted better than my college Genetics exam, it certainly has made a passing grade. I browsed through Jeff’s menu as I was finishing up my food; it appeared to be quite extensive. Other than the standard Chicago street fare, I saw spinach puffs, spaghetti with meatballs, and breakfast items as well. I can see myself come back here, try other items, and hope at least one(1) thing can impress me and turn myself into a regular since I will soon be residing in Portage Park.

This is, by far, the best hot dog place on the northwest side of the city(& probably in the city too). I’ve been coming to Jeff’s Red Hots since I was a kid. My mother has been coming to Jeff’s Red Hots since she was a kid & this is my daughter’s absolute favorite place for hot dogs. Some of my favorite items include: Hot dogs, Chili dogs, Polish, Gyros, Burgers & Grilled chicken on a pita, Tamale boat, etc. I’ve never had anything bad from here or something that I didn’t like. The employees are all extremely friendly & welcoming. If you go around lunch time, the place is always packed. This is just a really great neighborhood place.

Good burger and dog. Love that they garnish the way I do at home; Chicago style with sauerkraut. FYI: cash only but there’s an ATM inside so never an inconvenience. Reasonable prices for good local eats.

Came here after shopping in the area, and so glad we did! Hot dog with a plentiful amount of fries for $ 2.90? Can’t beat it! They have an extensive menu that looks awesome as well. Food is fresh and tasty. I love hole in the wall places and this one is worth the stop! I will be back. Cash only but they do have an ATM inside!

Stumbled in here for a Chicago style dog after an interview. I had a craving. It’s hot dogs. Burgers, gyros, the usual. But these guys are quality people with friendly attitudes. Cheap prices, fast, hospitable service, what more can you ask for?!

A neighbor to this establishment, but rarely a customer. We have never had a good outcome ordering here. When we do order here we usually get a hot dog w/fries, cheeseburger, and mozzarella sticks. Everytime we eat the food one of us gets food poisoning. Chills fever nausea vomiting and an unbareable day spent weak and in bed. Its a definite sign we will not be dining here anymore after few chances. It really troubles me the fact that the employees do not wear gloves nor the cashier wash his/her hands after handling cash then assist in the production of food service. As a manager in food service I cringe at the countless possibilities of bacterial cross contaminations that linger around this«hot dog joint» the customers adore so dearly. I understand this is a family business but should abide by food service and sanitation regulations. If you are looking for a hot dog spot this definitely not the place

Delicious, cheap, and fufilling. Chicago dog with kraut and some fries ALLFOR $ 2.90? SOLD. Food was quick to be made and very affordable. Staff was friendly and helpful. Bring cash for it is cash only, unless you wanna pay that ATM fee to use the one in store. Hot dog was astounding, really loved the addition of kraut to mine. I know that it may vary from the norm but hey, tasted delicious and thats all that matters. The french fries that came with them I would describe as shoestringish? Thin and crispy. Lacked salt but you could add that yourself. Have yet to try the Italian beef and gyros but does seem very promising and will be returning to give them a try.

I’ve been in Chicago for over two years and only just tried an Italian beef(I know, I know). Unfortunately, my first amazing experience with that sandwich was not here. When I went to Jeff’s Red Hots to recreate the experience(because this is much more convenient to my place), I was disappointed to find a dingy space filled with grumpy employees. I ordered an Italian beef(which was ok, but not as good as the one I tried at Outdoor Grill on Milwaukee) and two tamales. For almost 2 bucks a pop for the tamales, I was expecting something at least palatable. Instead I got a teeny, tiny prepackaged, misshapen atrocity. It was so mushy it was pretty much inedible and despite having a «beef» filling, the only flavor was the overwhelming taste of mushed cornmeal. Perhaps their other items made in-house are better, but I doubt I will be back to try it.
