Janus Travel

We have used Janus travel for our honeymoon and this year for our anniversary. Geri is absolutely wonderful and Sue is great too. We had the perfect honeymoon trip just by giving them our budget and what we wanted. This year we planned to go to Punta Cana and a hurricane hit. They were great with helping us work it out and we are able to go to a different location. We have recommended them to everyone we know.

Excellence riviera cancun was a dream resort, and the honeymoon suites at the excellence club were insane! We can’t wait to book another vacation next year with Janus travel.
The getting to/​from the airport and excursions with lomas travel was a breeze and affordable. We had no issues with the timeshare stands in the airport. Leaving can in was a bit of a mess to check in, it took about 45 min to just get checked in to give them baggage, but that wasn’t an issue as we got to the airport 3 hours before we flew home.
We got a free honeymoon package that we booked and showed them our marriage certificate to use. You can view the types of options on the excellence website.
The resort– it’s like something you see in movies. We had a private concierge for the excellence club guests, and a pool and bar area exclusively to that part of the resort. Our room was fantastic, we loved it. We arrived to fresh flowers, champagne, fresh fruit, and towel swans with rose petals on the bed. The room was huge, all the amenities (bar, TV, shower, sitting area, hammock, our door tub, and outdoor bed) were all exactly as described. We walked onto the patio and there was a two person tub on one side (the jets didn’t work, but that’s ok) a bed in the shade on the other side and a hammock directly in front. There was a bed in partial shade in from of that, and fresh towels set on it every morning for swimming. The pool was 4 feet from the outdoor bed, so we could lay out and then jump in. The pools closed at 8 which was odd, but it didn’t bother us too much.
The room was cleaned twice a day, and we had people come to give us fruit, refill the mini bar, and put petit fours in our room every day. Our bed and shower were so comfortable, the only weird thing was a not very private toilet, it just had a glass frosted door, and you could hear everything from there, haha.
We could eat breakfast as early as 7am at the private concierge if we had to leave early for an excursion at 7:45 and didn’t have time to go to the breakfast buffet. The concierge would also take our large peso bills and exchange them for smaller for us.
The restaurants and bars were great, and we had no trouble getting drinks by the pool. The drinks were delicious, and so was the food. The weather was perfect every single day, cooler in the morning, very hot in the afternoon (so we’d swim and tan) and cooler but breezy and wonderful by 6 – 7 at night. The beach had some seaweed but they cleaned it up every day and honestly didn’t bother us in the ocean. (Which is typical for that part of Mexico and Geri let us know about in advance).
They had fun activities and shows every night, and we loved the Mayan show and the Mexican fiesta night. On our last night we went to an all white themed dinner buffet on the beach lit up by lanterns and with live music.
We upgraded our honeymoon dinner on the beach from the honeymoon package for $ 200 for a private dinner on the pier, and the pier right next to it had a harp player on it throughout our private fancy dinner. The champagne and wine was plentiful and the service was amazing. He even took some pictures of us on the pier which was so nice.
We used our honeymoon hydrotherapy and foot massage spa treatment and upgraded to add a 25 min couples back massage. It was so relaxing and the spa beautiful. The service everywhere on the resort was incredible.
We took excursions with lomas travel (recommended by Geri) to akumal to swim/​snorkel with sea turtles and see an a over ground/​open cenote, a trip sailing on a catamaran to isla mujeres and snorkel at the underwater museum of art, and a trip to chichen itza and an ecopark with a cenote and lunch included.
3 trips in 7 days was plenty. We explored playa del Carmen on our own one afternoon. I always felt safe, the only annoyance was the vendors who could be a bit pushy and follow you around the store– but My husband was good at bartering and deflecting them.
It was amazing and perfect. We will use them again. Top notch work Janus travel!

In September, I was working to plan for a family vacation… first in many years. Regrettably Janus fell short with no follow-​up. The staff seemed disinterested in working with the customer. Luckily we found a competitor that provided wrap around services and was interested in cultivating a good customer relationship. The vacation was ultimately a success going through another agency

My husband and I contacted Janus Travel to help us plan our honeymoon. Sue and Mark are awesome! They give you honest opinions of each resort and give you plenty of options within your price range. I definitely recommend this travel agency. Most people don’t use travel agents anymore but I’m really glad we did. We ended up staying at the Hard Rock Hotel in Rivera Maya (heaven side) which is all adults and it was FANTASTIC. We will definitely be using Janus Travel again.

We contacted Janus Travel for our honeymoon — first to get an idea on the best destinations and secondly to get the best possible deals.
We worked with Sue Tisza and she gave us a few options based on our criteria. She helped us select Aruba and she took every step to make sure all our requirements were covered before got there.
Sue and Janus surprised us with a nice fruit basket when we got to our room in Bucuti Beach Resort! The resort was fantastic and credit to Sue for finding us the perfect honeymoon destination!
Sue took care of all the planning for the trip (from flights, connections and transport from airport to the hotel) — which made it an absolute pleasure to work with her.

I just went to a wedding in Riveria Maya, Mexico and the couple used Mark and Janus Travel to set up the accommodations. The wedding was approximately about 100 people and all my friends had similiar opinions of Janus Travel. The company was honest, responded timely to questions, and a pleasure to deal with. Some folks had to deal with change of plans due to snow and ice and Mark was able to make some alternate plans to accomodate. Never once did Janus try to sell me other than the vacation that was booked. Him and his staff also were attentive to all my needs and responded quickly to any questions we had. No wonder his business has been around all these years.

We live in the area and have used Janus for over a decade. I am so pleased to see that this business is still thriving especially now that travel arrangements are done online. Nothing beats having a travel agent really guide you through the process as it can get overwhelming. They are beyond accommodating and quick to reply to calls and e-​mails. We even decided to switch hotels and it was done quick and easy, no problem. I highly recommend them!

The first time I used Janus Travel was booking a spring break trip to Cancun with 8 college friends back in 1985. Back then, you really had no choice but to use a travel agency.
Since then, although the travel industry has changed considerably over the years, and the use of an agency really is not necessary, I have continued using Janus. (the past 10 years probably 2x a year). I have also introduced numerous friends to Janus, and all love it.
Although i can normally find what i am looking for on line, it is the personal touch Mark gives me each and every trip that keeps me coming back. I am probably one of his biggest pain in the butt customers, but he is always eager to help. He knows exactly what i am looking for, and most of time has traveled to either the resort or area i am interested in.
I have been using these guys for over 25 years and have no intention of going elsewhere. They are a diamond in the rough!
Use them… you won’t be disappointed.

While I have traveled both domestically and internationally for the past decade, I have never used a travel agent before my latest trip. Who needs one when there are so many websites and deals out there?! Well, after searching the internet for weeks looking for a short getaway with my husband, I was about to give up on a trip idea because I couldn’t find anything in my price range with direct flights at a decent looking hotel.
Then, during a massive snowstorm in January, I remembered that I had bookmarked Janus Travel. I was probably pretty rude when I called because I immediately asked how they were paid, then proceeded to tell them exactly what I wanted and my price range – not willing to budge on a few things including direct flights, all inclusive resort, etc. Not only was Geri so helpful in telling me she was sure she could find exactly what I wanted, she sent me 6 different hotel/​flight options within the next 2 hours. The hotels and flights were exactly what I was looking for and a few hundred dollars CHEAPER than I was willing to pay. Best part was that all I had to do was quickly look up the hotels on
and pick the right fit for me. She had already taken my flight preferences from our quick phone call into account when choosing
Specifics on my trip…
1. Janus Travel did not make me pay for their services. It seems Janus Travel was paid by Apple Vacations but I can’t confirm that.
2. Janus Travel booked us a trip through Apple Vacations which was $ 1,500 cheaper than what it would have cost me to book through Apple Vacation’s website. Not sure how that works but I’ll take it!
I just returned from my vacation and am so pleased with Janus Travel that I’m already trying to think of an excuse to use them again! Thank you so much, Geri!

I have used Janus for most of my cruises. I found that Mark and Irish were very accomidating in helping with all of my wife’s and my travel adventures. We book a trip through a «big box» agency and, other than book the cruise were on NO help with travel or accomidations.
On one cruise, I had left my camera on the plane traveling back from Italy. Mark and Irish went out of theit way to try to locate the camera with no help from the airline. After an extensive and exhausting search, including calling Europe, my camera was located and returned. I think Juanus went beyond the call of duty in assisting my recovery.
I plan on using Janus for future trips and would recommend them to all.

I have never used a travel agent to book a trip. In fact, I consider myself to be a pretty savvy trip planner/​deal finder when it comes to traveling (I got that from my mom’s meticulously planned vacations growing up).
However, when three of us decided we wanted to take a warm winter vacation getaway we decided to ask for help. We wanted something all inclusive and under a certain budget. The kicker was that one of us would be flying out of a different airport– so all of those deals on Obitz became too confusing.
Enter Mark (owner) of Janus Travel Inc: I explained to him our situation, budget and type of vacation we were looking for. Within a few days he came back with options and helped us to line up a vacation with ease. He was quick to answer all calls and emails with random vacation questions.
The experience of planning the trip with Mark was actually a lot of fun. It was personalized and I really felt that he want to make sure that we could have the best trip possible.
The trip is still a few month away but I will update this when we return.

Mark Janus was recommended to us by one of my fiancé’s co-​workers back in November 2008… we were looking for a vacation in March of 2009. Throughout the months leading up to the cruise I had many phone conversations with Mark, and each time he was very knowledgeable and never just told me a glossed over description of places, I felt that he really was looking out for what we wanted in our vacation. All of these conversations led up to a great 7 day cruise to the Western Caribbean, he was able to get us a really low price, and when the cruise price dropped even more, he was able to get us OBC (on board credit)…for the price difference, even after we had made a complete payment. We are now working on our wedding/​honeymoon with Mark

This is the best Travel Agency on my side of town!
I know travel planning websites are the thing now, but sometimes I just want to speak to a human and get real opinions, and questions answered.
Ask for Mark, he has usually traveled to the places he recommends.
He really has done a great job for us.
He has made PERFECT suggestions and provided great «hook-​ups» when we went to Vegas, Maui and Rivera Maya.
I haven’t used him in an awhile, due to the «Internet travel planning».
When I plan a «big one» again I’ll be calling Mark @ Janus Travel.

This is a fun, spirited travel agency. Their phone number spells SODA POP on your phone. They have a 24 hour hotline that updates their weekly deals. I get a kick out of the hotline and a bigger kick out the great prices.
