Hunter Properties

I lived at this building for a less than a year. The building became infested with bed bugs and although the property hired an exterminator to work on the infested units, the bugs just moved from unit to unit. We were never informed that there was an issue in the building. my unit became infested and the extermination process simply did not work. I informed hunter properties that the problem needed to be solved within 30 days or i would terminate my lease (100% legal). the problem was not solved and i moved out. unfortunately, i had to wash everything i owned, get rid of my mattress (which was only about 3 years old) and other furniture in order to make sure the bed bugs did NOT accompany me.
had I been informed that there was a problem in the building, i would have bought mattress encasements to protect my $ 1,000 mattress set.
All in all, the experience cost me well over $ 3000.
In addition to the bed bug problem… i had a huge leak in my bathroom ceiling. the ceiling was puckering and nothing was ever fixed. My carbon monoxide detector went off several times and i was told to just take the battery out (about a month or so after i moved out, the building was evacuated late at night due to a carbon monoxide leak). I was missing screens for my windows, i called and left multiple messages over a number of weeks requesting screens so that i could have my windows open without the possibility of something getting in. I was ignored continuously until i threatened to take further action and hiring someone to come in and replace screens and deduct the cost from what I would pay in rent. Additionally, the radiator valve in the bedroom of my unit was broken and never shut off. i spent most of the winter with my windows open because it was too hot. My request to have it fixed was constantly ignored.
I should have known that bad things were to come when I couldn’t even arange to view the apartment, sign lease or pick up keys after business hours. I had to take off work early in order to get there before 5 or 5:30pm.
