Sure, it might be a little pricey.
Sure, some of the staff may not be the friendliest.
Bottom line is that my dog always looks AMAZING after an appointment with Howlistic Grooming.

I took my 10 month 77lb pit bull here for the first time and we loved it. The groomer & owner, Anderson was great. He was nice, calm & informative. When I got my big baby back, he was happy & normal. He looked & smelled great too. I will definitely be back. Thanks guys!

We just visit this grooming store. Very nice groomers! They told me what they would do and asked me all my concerns. Great environment. They gave my dog a gift because this is his first visit. Awesome place!

Very cute grooming shop. Prices are not too bad at all and the customer service is better than other places I have ventured. Our dog is on the larger side (60lb+ Mix breed) and does not like loud noises (blow dryer, nail buffer etc.). I informed the staff here of that and they said it’s common and will be sure to work with him carefully to minimize the «fear».
I received a call when he was done and all was well. They offer a «punch card» program for services and after so many you receive a «prize».

My 6 mo lab puppy loved it here! He had a bath, nail trim, and teeth brushed. He smelled so good when I picked him up and was very excited. The groomer gave me an update on his condition and how he did as well. I will certainly return. Affordable prices as well.

I come here for nail clips because it’s FREE but I usually leave them a generous tip for their good service. My dog haven’t bled. They offer other services for great prices.

I LOVE THIS PLACE. I bring my dog Bentley and he is a Shih-​Tzu ALL the time. I been many places in Dallas, San Diego and Chicago and he usually comes back with a ding or scratch. I know he may be difficult cause he is a pampered pet but he always comes back from here looking perfect as he is. The prices are even better for the extras I request. He always gets full groom with oatmeal bath since his skin is sensitive and teeth brushed. They even gave him the cutest Mohawk at my request. Customer service is also amazing. He has an appointment tomorrow. LOL. Love you Howlistic!!!

For the first time I feel a little betrayed by my fellow Unilocalers and that NEVER happens. I took my two Shih Tzu’s to get groomed thinking this was going to be such an upgrade from pet smarts, and boy was I wrong.
When I came in I wasn’t greeted very friendly or hardly greeted at all. The owner didn’t seem very interested and you’d think he’d be nicer since he was the first person I saw. After we talked about the specifics of my babies hair cuts, I left with high hopes because I thought this place did such great work, the pics look great.
I dropped my puppies off at 9:45 a.m. He told me they would be done in 3 – 4 and a half hours when I booked my appointment. It didn’t take him four hours, my dogs were not ready until almost 5:00 and when arrived, I still had to wait because they couldn’t take control of the situation with my dog, needless to say, I had to wait even longer. It took him eight hours and two separate people worked on my dogs.
But it gets worse… When I get there, I don’t even recognize one of my babies… He nearly skinned the poor thing. It’s ridiculous. I can’t even have my air conditioner on the setting of my liking because my baby is shivering. When I expressed this to him he stated «I explained we would have to go some shorter because she was so matted» My baby was not matted. And when she is groomed at pet smart, she may be a bit of a diva, BUT their employees never skinned my dog! He wasn’t even apologetic when he could see my disappointment, it honestly seemed like he didn’t care. He took off a small amount of money but it didn’t matter. I lost my whole day, missed out on a prior engagement, and my dog is cold. ZERO STARS!!!

There are a lot of pretentious snobby Chicago groomers with waiting lists; whether you’re an established client or not, get in line. I however had to no intentions of making my pup suffer through the new summer heat just to join the hype. Despite our combined anxiety over trying some place new, she came out looking fab and I owe it all to the Howlistic team for getting us a same day appointment. Not only did they finish at the time promised, the price was reasonable. I didn’t have to pay with my future first born.

Anderson is wonderful, he is the best groomer in town. My Chewie loves getting his haircut. They away do an amazing job. We get complimented on his cut all the time. Try them out… You will never go anywhere else

I’m really disappointed with my puppy’s last groom here. I took my puppy here several times before, and all went okay. I was never in love with the cuts, but they were decent. However, the last time I was here was my last. I have a 3 pound puppy, and she’s usually done within 1.5 hours. This last time, she was there for 4 hours! When I came to pick her up, her face and ears weren’t even complete. I saw her siting in a cage, shaking, and waiting. Heartbreaking for a puppy parent. When the groomer finished, TOO much hair was chopped from her face and ears. I almost didn’t recognize her! Upon further inspection, I noticed that her hair on her head, neck, and a little down her back was a lot shorter than the rest of her body and legs. It wasn’t blended; there was a noticeable difference in length. About a 1 inch difference! I think the groomer got too busy juggling all the other dogs that he «forgot» to trim the rest of her. The grooming was so uneven that I had to fix a lot of it at home. I also noticed that her nails were not trimmed. They were still long and smooth. When they are trimmed, they are sharp. I called Howlistic to ask if they clipped my puppy’s nails, and they lied and said yes. The time before my last, they also tried charging me $ 60 for a 3 pound dog when I always paid $ 55. I’m definitely not bringing my fur baby here again. You lost a customer.

This was my first time taking Toby to a groomer after a terrible experience that left him traumatized. And all the other grooming places told me he needed to be sedated in order to get groomed. And so i thought i would try this place. This was an amazing experience.
I called and told the person that Toby was very anxious, scared, and liked to bark when he felt vulnerable. However, the person I spoke with was the owner Anderson. He said that he would take care of my little toby. It made me feel great over the phone so I gave it a shot and he was accomodating with the short notice.
So, the day of the appointment as we walked in Toby was so anxious and nervous, but Anderson was so sweet, patient, and kind. He said to pick up him in about 4 hours. I was so worried about Toby and called to check up on him half way through the appointment, and was told he was doing just fine. Finally, at the very end I came a little early and saw how gentle Anderson was with Toby and the way he talked to him. And once he was finished, i couldnt believe it! TOBY LOOKED ABSOLUTELY LIKE A PUPPY (he’s 8 y/​o). So adorable and I was so happy.
The prices are reasonable and comparable to most places and the place was very neat and clean. And don’t worry if you have a dog that is nervous or anxious. This place will take care of your dog and won’t make your dog get sedated. We will be back again!

This is Ms. Honeys first time here and I know for sure it won’t be her last. I love the way they cut her hair. She looks FABULOUS!

Took our two10-​year-​old Labradoodles here for baths and trims. They came back happy and looking like puppies! This may have been their first visit to a commercial groomer, but we’ll be back. Highly recommended!

Howlistic grooming is great! I came here because my Chihuahua mix, Oliver, needed a nail trim. Since I was a new customer, I called ahead to make an appointment. I was told by the very friendly and helpful employee that they take walk-​ins for nail trims and that I didn’t need any proof vaccinations for one either.
As soon as we arrived, the employee took the time to introduce himself to Oliver to make him more comfortable. He then took him to the back for a few minutes. When they both came back out and Oliver’s nails were nice and short. I don’t think any of his quicks were nicked either. The employee then started saying goodbye to us. I asked him about payment and I was told that the nail trims were free! I’m not sure if it’s a temporary deal or if they always do that, though.
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. Howlistic grooming is fast, friendly and efficient.

A Double Win
I have wash and wear Shar-​peis, but they are not the best when kenneled. Finding the right place has been trial and error for me. Either they are good groomers but not very good with skittish dogs, or they are very nice but not so great on the grooming skills. This place has both. They could not be more understanding and they have a mini run for dogs like mine. And they understand Shar-​pei skin and fur. My dogs are happy and look fabulous when they come out. This is a very professional place that puts the animals first and really knows its stuff when it comes to grooming … I live close by but this is worth a drive.

Could not be happier with the service and quality grooming at Howlistic Grooming! We have definitely found our go-​to groomer in the city. Thank you to the staff!

My husband and I are currently dogsitting and I noticed that the dog’s nails were pretty long. I decided to check this place out for a nail trim and even though Anderson knew that I was just dogsitting (and therefore couldn’t be a repeat customer), he still was seriously so nice and did a great job on the FREE nail trim. I also asked how much it would be to trim the fur between the dog’s paw pads and he said to not worry about it and did that for free as well.
What a great new business and I’m glad there’s finally a dog groomer in the University Village area!
