Cole is my new guy! Does EXACTLY what I ask him to do! Very happy with overall service and price. Probably one of the best stylists I’ve had. Darren and Laura (with the amazing blue eyes) are equally amazing!

We stopped by here today for a haircut for my son and I’m pretty disappointed with the whole experience. My son is one and a half, so I know it’s difficult to cut his hair. However, I was told that they do toddler hair, not a problem, I can bring him in whenever. So we waited 45 minutes (which i understand because it’s a Sunday walk-​in) and a lady calls us over. I ask if she’s ok doing his hair and she says «I guess!» Um, ok.
So she lets me hold my son on my lap so that she can cut his hair. He was crying and clinging to me, but that’s pretty normal for a toddler. She seemed to be getting frustrated with it and was just trying to rush, as there were others waiting as well. I wasn’t super thrilled with the cut, but I understand because he was crying.
The only thing I would have liked is for her to be kind and patient. She shouldn’t have cut his hair if she didn’t think she could it or at least be nice about it. So for $ 12 I’ll probably buy my own scissors to cut my sons ‘s hair.

The star of this place is my stylist Rosa. She has been cutting my hair for over 2 years now and has transformed my hair into what it is today! She has helped me broaden my horizons and work towards a hair style that I sometime can’t believe I have! She is fun, personable, and professional. I have very straight hair that is difficult to cut and style, but Rosa always finds a way to amaze me.
I’ve always hated getting my hair cut until I met Rosa. Now I look forward to every hair cut and sometime I will even go in early cause every time I leave I feel like a million bucks!

Liset is my hair and eyebrow saviour! She is the only person I trust with my eyebrows, haircuts and my perm. I have been going to her for 3 years now and i can’t imagine allowing anyone else to mess with any of the above. She is reliable, consistent and an overall amazing threader and waxer you will not be disappointed! Even my boyfriend gets his hair cut by her and she is helping him work with his crazy curly hair as he grows it out.

Hair Cuttery was an ok place… But I need to follow Fernando to Slade’s Barber Shop… He knows my hair!

I have always had great service but Fernando was my guy. He is gone and at Slade’s Barber Shop if your willing to make the ride he is worth it. Petra, Victor and Darren are good if you can’t make the trip.

I enjoyed having my haircut with Peter. At first he appears to be shy, but once you start engaging him in conversation, not only did he fade my hair well, he struck a great conversation like Shocantelle Brown would. It is customary for stylists at Hair Cuttery to shampoo and condition your hair, but Peter went above and beyond by massaging my scalp which was an extra perk of having him as my stylist.

See Darren! He is great– easy to talk to, efficient, and always gives a great haircut!

I’ve been to see Laura at this salon several times and she does a great job with my hair. She’s always on time for my appointments and spends time before wash/​cut to make sure she knows exactly what I’m looking for. She’s very personable and I would definitely recommend. Note: Laura is a Master Stylist, so there is a few dollar up-​charge to see her. Worth it, in my opinion!
My husband also comes to this salon and has received great haircuts from both Fernando and Viktor. When he has to roll the dice and take whoever is available for a walk-​in appointment, the results have been mixed. For this reason, I can only give this shop 4 stars.

There are a lot of problems here, and most probably have to do with the fact that it’s a high-​volume shop and store policies are dictated from above. There are some good stylists who come through here, but they rarely stay.
The first problem is the apparent appointment policy: I was told one cannot make an appointment without having named a stylist. I called today for an appointment later in the week and was told that without a stylist’s name, I would simply have to walk in and wait. Despite explaining twice that I’d like an appointment since I didn’t have a lot of flexibility in my schedule, the stylist speaking with me either did not understand, or couldn’t simply tell me, «We won’t do that for you without a stylist’s name. You have to walk in and perhaps wait for a chair on your lunch hour.»
Knowing about this can really save you some time and aggravation on the phone.
The second is the sweatshop environment. It’s often packed and always understaffed. There’s no receptionist. All the stylists are multitasking. Working there is definitely not easy, especially in such a high-​volume shop. This environment is also unpleasant for the customer. You can’t really have a discussion about what’s being done with your hair when your stylist has to walk away to answer the phone every two minutes because it rings non-​stop.
The third is the opaque service menu and pricing. Rather than have a menu clearly stating what the prices and services are in detail, there’s a general menu and then upcharges for using a brush while blowdrying, for having long hair, for sitting with a master stylist (which you might not even know until you go up front to settle up!).
There are a lot of reasonably priced mom & pop shops around the neighborhood. I’m gonna try them out.

I have had my hair cut here for years and been lucky to have many excellent stylists here. Today, Peter did a great job on my hair. He asked me how it looked and i pointed out i was not wearing my spectacles and I trusted him… He took an extra few minutes when i said this and examined from every angle and made a few adjustments before he was finished. Very nice.

My hair looks awful. I asked for long layers and I got one big choppy level of hair. :(that’s what I get for going to a cheap place that is only known to do good men hair cuts. :(

In and out quickly. Normally shave my head. She went down to the skin. Different, but nice.

Updating my review, although I haven’t been there in almost a year. I used to live around the corner from them until last year and went to Darren several times. He is fantastic and always cut my hair so I walked out feeling great. He is also really easy to talk to and open to input from me about my hair. It reminded me that I need to go back to him.

I have been to this location several times with few complaints until now. This last trip I had was the worst haircut I’ve ever had. When a customer specifically tells the stylist EXACTLY how they want their appearance to look they should be listened to, since the customer is the one walking around with the look. I gave specific instructions on what I would like and my «stylist» Vicky seemed to not care at all and just wanted me out the door asap. Buzzed my sides without precision and used scissors where I specified I’d like the buzzer to blend my sides in. She did such a shotty job my girlfriend (who doesn’t cut hair) had to finish the job later that night. To make matters worse the back top of my head was uneven after she over cut on one side after she paid more attention to her phone ringing than my head. That trip was my last and will be taking my business else where and think you should too

Needed a quick blowout before a trip, and decided to see what was available in the neighborhood. When I called, the pricing sounded great and I was able to walk-​in with no wait.
Peter was fabulous and did a great job with my blowout, knowing that I just wanted simple, clean hair for my 14-​hour flight, that I could easily style with a curling iron I landed. He was awesome and listened to exactly what I wanted, and didn’t at all seem bothered when I asked him to shampoo twice. I would definitely come back to see him.
One thing to note is the pricing structure that Hair Cuttery has for blowouts is kinda confusing (to no fault of the employees there). They charge $ 17 for a regular blowout, and then $ 27 (+ $ 10 for long hair) for what they call a blowout-​straight that uses a round brush. I thought all blowouts used a round brush, so when I initially inquired about a blowout I was quoted the $ 17 (+ $ 10 for length) price. A regular blowout is just dried with fingers and a hairdryer, which I didn’t know was an actual service salons offered.
The employees were super sweet about it, and honored that original price but noted that in the future I’d have to pay the $ 27. So when you factor in the cost for my hair length, $ 37 for a blowout puts them in the same pricing category as Drybar or Blowtique.
Either way, it was a great experience and good to know I can get a nice blowout in the neighborhood.

I have always avoided using professionals for over 10 years to cut my hair since Denise quit (back in Philadelphia).
But Bridget at this Hair Cuttery knew exactly what I was talking about and knew what I wanted and did it right the first time. I think I finally found a new person to cut my hair for me.

I used to go to Great Clips and just let anyone cut my hair. By doing that, my hair was good like half the time.
Now, I will only go here to see Kelly. She is amazing! She gives a great haircut and is very friendly. I will never go to anybody else! Kelly is the best!

I have a graduated bob that I’m growing out but needed a trim with some variety. Douglas did a nice trim with a few layers in the front. He listened well and said that we could change anything after we got a good look at it after he washed and styled it. Nice cut!
I arrived a little bit early for my appointment, and Douglas took me a little before 6. Just as I’d been hoping on that cold night.

I decided to try another Hair Cuttery, this one on Clark. I’ve been to the fancier salons on Clark, but I just needed a trim and thought I’d save a couple of bucks. The BF and I called for an appointment. When I got there, I was asked for name, phone number, zip code… all things I already gave to the last Hair Cuttery and said I didn’t want to do it again. They can’t seem to give haircuts without imposing a Hair Cuttery card on you and I guess you have to do it every time you go in. My stylist was pleasant and seemed to understand what I wanted. He went o ver what he was doing and how it should be done at home for maximum volume, wow factor, etc. So, why the one star? Well… the place was a bit dirty with other people’s hair on the floors and wall. Not the end of the world, I know, but then when the stylist was finishing up and making straight lines on the cut, he used some clipper/​razor thing, and cut my neck! I felt a pinch, but did NOT think it was serious until I got home and saw it in the mirror. The walk home in the cold must’ve numbed it a bit, but as the day went on it got irritated and painful. I suppose if you go, you can just ask for that last part not to be done, but it’s just common knowledge not to injur your clients.
