Hags with Rags is a great company to work with. Maria communicated well and was flexible when my schedule changed. The cleaning crew was very friendly and devoted to the project. I found them from Unilocal where they had fantastic reviews. I must say I am in complete agreement with the other reviewers – Five Stars!

Based on the excellent reviews here on Unilocal,I decided to go with Hags for a good scrubdown of my apartment after I moved out before the new tenants arrived. I could not have been more satisfied — Maria is prompt with communication, the estimate and final price was reasonable, and the apartment was sparking clean and looked even better than when I first moved in. Even the faucets sparkled! I only mainly needed the kitchen and bathroom cleaned, but within the time-​frame, they even swept and wiped down the ceiling fan blades. I was extremely satisfied, and I would highly recommend this business. Might even use them again for a good deep cleaning of my new place at some point!

In my opinion — you’d be lucky to have the hags on your schedule. Great cleaning jobs; well organized office; good communication. Staff is professional and pleasant.

My husband got me a deep clean with the Hags over a year ago. They helped me do a Spring clean like you wouldn’t believe! I love when they come and sometimes try to get my dogs groomed on the same day so the clean lasts longer :-) Cara and Maria treat my home as if it were their own — taking the time to get every nook and cranny. Special requests? No problem. I have asked many things over the past year and they have always been accommodating. One of the best things they do is see what needs to be done and do it — like cleaning my oven — a task I would rather not do. One day one of the women said, «It’s time to do your fridge.» I didn’t have to ask, they just see it and take care of it.
Hags With Rags is very reasonably priced for the amount of work they tackle in my house — we have two dogs and lots of boys — big mess makers! I can’t recommend them highly enough. Give them a try — you won’t be sorry!

Have you ever hired a cleaning service for a deep clean and left thinking «well, it was pretty good, but I would have cleaned x, y, and z, if I was doing a deep clean.» Not so with Hags with Rags. When they did the initial deep clean, EVERYTHING was spotless. And so, they’ve been cleaning my house ever since. I love their customer service and the attitude of all their employees. I’m so happy I found them.

The Hags have been cleaning my digs for the past year or so and I must say I love their service!
I’ve had them help with a deep clean, even completing the windows as well as a regular cleaning every 2 weeks or so. Every time I’m happy with their work. The ladies they send and really nice and take pride in their work.
The customer services is always top notch, and they have been able to accommodate schedule fluctuations and last minute requests. Plus– if I ever want an area targeted or something special done they always are up for the task.
I’m sure this has a lot to do with the fact that Maria and Cara manage them well and look out for their well being! They pay their staff a fair wage. Sure you can probably find cheaper service, but if you believe an honest wage for an honest job you can feel comfortable with Hags with Rags.

Hags with Rags are awesome! Our recent rehab job left fine white dust from dry wall and plaster covering everything, a depressing sight just when you think the work is finally ending. Not only that, but under the white dust was darker dirt left by the previous occupants, who apparently hadn’t cleaned in months (or perhaps years). Undaunted, four hardy women from Hags tackled the task head-​on and left the place looking beautiful! They climbed up to shrub cabinet tops; used razor blades to remove dried paint spots; and brought out polish to make the vintage woodwork shine. On top of all that, they managed to stay cheerful (and keep us cheerful) after the long day of work. Thank you, Cara, Maria and the Hags crew.

I had Hags come and deep clean my 3 bedroom, 2 ½ bath house last Aug. they were lovely people, great to work with. They did a great job cleaning too. My only complaint is that they were so dang expensive! Not only did the deep clean end up costing $ 450, they said it would cost at least $ 250 to come back each month on a regular basis. I’m really glad they pay their staff a nice wage, I just can’t afford it.

Recently had our four story 2800 SF townhome remodeled in Evanston. Had a post construction deep clean. Everything was VERY well done and all of the hags were great to work with! One women just worked on the kitchen all day. We had a lot of picky things that we wrote out for them. They did them all without complaint. They gave an estimate range based on pictures and billed us after the work was complete. They were within that estimate and I can’t complain at all. Work was worth every penny. Looking at some of the reviews that complained about them, and it dumbfounds me. As with any service, as the client you have to set clear expectations with the provider and ask questions if you don’t understand something. My wife and I found them easy to work with. Everyone’s expectations were met. We were shocked at how well they did considering how our dirty our home was. Ready to set up bi-​weekly cleaning now. HIGHLY recommend!

I have worked with Cara and Maria for 2 years now. It has been a pleasure every time. I am a home stager that works with quite a few real estate agents and am in need for a cleaning service quite often. I have used other cleaning services and was very displeased with them. Here is what you get with Hags with Rags: Wonderfully courteous professional people, on time every time, an attention to detail, and a very clean home. My very favorite part of working with them is that I can refer them for the job, and that’s it! I have every confidence they will do the work that my real estate agents, my clients, and I would expect. If you want the best cleaning crew in Chicago, call Hags With Rags. If that is not important to you then remember that you get what you pay for.

Maria and Cara are wonderful, thorough and uncommonly lovely! Not only did they do a massive deep clean of my new digs that took a team of 5 of them pretty much all day (because the previous tenants were PIGS), they brought in their own handyman to do some minor repairs, they replaced light bulbs, unclogged a sink, vacuumed the vents, cleaned food off the walls, etc etc etc. They were a dream and I wish I could afford to have them come every week!
(I had them come in June — just now finishing this review! Whoops!)

These ladies are WONDERFUL! My apartment was in desperate need of a deep cleaning and they did not let me down. Every single thing in my apartment was cleaned, nothing was left untouched. Best of all, they kept true to their initial cost estimate even though they ended up spending several hours more hours cleaning than they expected. I would recommend Hags with Rags to anyone looking for great service at a fair price. I’ll definitely be using their services again!

I have called 4 times and left messages over the past 2 months. why has no-​one ever returned my calls. I assume that you already have enough business and can afford to treat potential new clients like this.

Now have been using Hags With Rags for almost 6 months. They continue to amaze me with great cleaning, great attitude, wonderful communications, easy pay and just plain great service. They constantly tell me about little things around our condo that need attention or care. In a neighborhood where parking is not good, they NEVER complain about it, are always timely and continue to do in depth cleaning of our unit. Maria and staff are always courteous and very easy to deal with.

I wrote my first review on October 6, 2014 the day that I got home after they performed a deep clean. The house appeared clean, and I was very happy. I wrote the review before I knew how much money they planned to demand for the work.
I later received the bill and spoke with Maria. I have now changed my review of Hags with Rags from five (5) stars to one (1) star. Here is why:
In August 2013, Hags with Rags cleaned my ~1,600 SF, duplex down, three bedroom place for $ 225. This is not cheap, but the place was clean so I was OK with it.
In October 2013, Hags with Rags performed the same scope of work and sent me an invoice for $ 400. The place was no dirtier than it was previously.
In the past, Maria has been fair with me. So I reached out to her to discuss the invoice and explain that I felt uncomfortable with the gigantic price hike. She told me that she could not do anything about the price because the clean should have rightfully cost $ 525 and she was already giving me a huge discount at $ 400.
I checked around with some of my friends families in the suburbs and they are paying WAY less than that to get a large 5 bedroom house cleaned on the north shore. I understand that prices rise over time, but I could not accept that unfair of a price increase. In no way did they set the expectation with me that the price would go up by 78% for the same scope of work.
Maria took up 25 minutes of my time today trying to convince me that I was getting a deal at $ 400. I stuck to my guns and told her that I felt the price increase was too unfair. I even offered $ 350 so we could just get on with it, but she refused. When I told her that I would need to append my previous Unilocal review to add that I thought the price was unfair, she completely blew up at me and called me irritating. She then said she could no longer talk to me and we hung up.
Due to Maria’s behavior, poor customer service, and due to the fact that she yelled at me when trying to have a civilized, professional conversation, I am revoking my previous Unilocal review. I will never use Hags with Rags again nor will I ever recommend Hags with Rags to anyone again.

We hired Hags to deep clean our home prior to it being listed for sale. Sadly, we had previously paid for a deep clean from another top listed company, and were less than impressed with their work — even more so after we saw the level of detail, quality, and integrity Hags brought to the job. They left our home looking better than it ever has — and three weeks later it seriously still looks great.
In addition, Hags is owned by two amazing women who run a fantastic, professional and conscientious business that cares about their employees. Hands down — a top business across the board.

I’ve used the hags for a deep cleaning and every 2 to 3 weeks since. Maria (one of the owners) is responsive and friendly with a good sense of humor. Bernice and her team are my Hags and they are both friendly and fantastic at their work.
Deep cleaning includes blinds, the inside of your oven and refrigerator, floorboards, and every nook and cranny of your property.
Regular cleaning of my relatively large two bedroom two bath condo takes two people just about two hours. They bring their own supplies including a Dyson vacuum cleaner. When Bernice and her partner leaves my place smells and looks fantastic. Did I mention I have a cat? They’re even friendly to him and tolerate his antics while they clean.
What an amazing experience. They are not the least expensive — but worth every dime. (Including the dime i pay just to refer to them as Hags.)

I will not recommend this company.
When my girlfriend and I contacted them to clean our two unit apartment building we were excited to get these ladies in our place. They quoted us a decent price over the phone so we set up a time. About $ 250 for both units — one unoccupied and essentially move in ready. Total square feet for both units together about 1500.
We called around other businesses and got quotes in the range of about $ 260 for both units together. They quoted a slightly better price over the phone than other businesses so we went with them and changed our schedules around. They were now coming in on Wednesday.
When we got home Wednesday, we discovered that they were still not done. Despite have 5 ladies in our home for nearly 6 hours they were still not done with even the unoccupied lower unit. How could this be? How?! Just… How?
One of the ladies exclaimed to my girlfriend that she was so sorry and they would come back the next day to finish up. She wanted to make sure we were happy with their work.
They hadn’t even finished cleaning an unoccupied two bedroom/​one bath apartment in 6 hours with five employes. How could we be happy? When my girlfriend asked how much more it was going to cost to do that — She specifically said that it would all be included in the price quoted. We said OK and rearranged our schedules a second time that week for them.
Thursday came and our place looked ok. just ok mind you — not even close to the odd glaring reviews written by other Unilocalers here. we were fine with it in the end. Even though I still needed to mop my own floors after having a cleaning service in our home for two full days. Seriously — the floors were not even mopped. I have no idea what these cleaning ladies could have been doing for a total of about 12 hours in my home.
Even more strange was the fact that 3 cleaning ladies were sitting in their car out front of my home for about an hour. Just sitting in the car.
Our invoice for cleaning arrived and it is for more than twice the agreed upon price. I could not believe it. My girlfriend called to ask what the deal was and She was belittled and told She didn’t know what she was talking about. That they never said they would include our unit in the price, and they thought they were being «more than fair». She explained that we wouldn’t have had them come back for a second six hour cleaning marathon if it was going to cost us another $ 250.00. She told them she thought it was unfair and was promptly told that they were planning to send us to collections if we didn’t pay now.
She said goodbye and hung up the phone.
I had hoped that Unilocal would have put a stop to this bizarre business practice of customer abuse. It is frightening to think that people can still get taken by these kinds of scams.
I am a contractor and my girlfriend works in real estate. We consulted a few friends in the industry about prices for home cleaning services after the fact and all got the same appalled response when we told them about Hags with Rags.
Bottom line — Overpriced. Inconvenient. Unprofessional. Very Shady.
Pretty much the worst experience available.

I heart the hags! First off, their name is hilarious & memorable. So, when I was about to be swallowed up by the black hole of crap that was becoming my apartment I knew who to call from a previous search (I have tried others through various deals and they always fall short, so this time I was sparing no expense).
Secondly, I received a very prompt response from Maria, who was sweet as pie & incredibly helpful-​answered all of my questions and didn’t once make me feel like the anal retentive diva I am sure I sounded like.
Finally, they came on time, cleaned certain areas expertly that others before them missed, and did so for an extremely reasonable rate. Just waiting to get a little more organized before I call again (wouldn’t want to traumatize them), but you bet I’ll be calling. Give them a try-​you won’t regret it!

I recently moved and this service came recommended from the sellers of my condo. I’m ecstatic they were recommended! The attention to detail and thorough cleaning is unlike anything I have had previously in a cleaning service.
I have very tall windows and ceilings, these ladies arrived w/​ladders and equipment ready to tackle everything. I can’t say enough about how fantastic the level of cleaning is. It did take a couple of tries to connect, but once we did I was able to schedule promptly. I’d recommend them to anyone who wants a great quality cleaning service!
