The original Green Door is located at Orleans and Huron and is housed in a leaning, two-story wooden structure was built in 1872 immediately following the Great Chicago Fire. Following the fire, the City of Chicago passed a fire code ordinance prohibiting construction of wooden buildings downtown, making Green Door the last of its kind and truly a one of a kind. From its earliest days, The Green Door Tavern has been a Chicago favorite. While over the years the menu has evolved, the Green Door remains committed to delivering the authentic, old-school Chicago
