History

Established in 2010.

We are a full service commercial and residential Junk and Debris removal service, based on the Northwest Side of Chicago. After watching a neighbors house getting cleaned out by XYZJunk Removal. (the name has been changed not to incriminate the guilty party) I was disgusted by the lack of care and respect. The way perfectly «good» items were indiscriminately thrown on a truck and destroyed. When these items would have been perfectly suited for donation or reuse, had they not been destroyed. When we started this business we decided to make landfill diversion our specialty and priority.

We are proud that we are able to Recycle over 88% of the items we collect. That means less items going to fill up the garbage dump. A true green alternative to our competitors. We practice true landfill diversion.

The reviews do not lie! Eric is great. From the initial call to the service provided. I called midday yesterday to set up an appointment. Eric gave me a price to remove an article of furniture from a retail location of mine. Well not only did they come the very next day at the time they said they would but they also came in under the quoted price! Thanks again Eric!

Found these guys online and gave them a chance. I needed a home clean up and they were able to do it the very next day. They stayed in touch with me through out the day. Two gentlemen showed up and carried evrything out of the hpuse without a problem. Great service!

I would recommend Great Junk Removal in a heartbeat! They removed a lot of old junk from my moms house and I couldn’t be happier with the service. Very professional employees, very prompt and they get the job done quickly. The cost is great too… very reasonable. Working with Great Junk Removal was the best, easiest part of moving. Customer service is awesome (I spoke with Eric to set up the removal, and he is very responsive and friendly). Two very nice movers arrived ON TIME to remove my old bed (gave a window of 9:30−10 and showed up at 9:40!). I didn’t reserve an elevator (oops) so my building gave me a hard time, but the guys from GJR remained professional and helpful, offering up solutions. Everyone I talked to at Great Junk Removal was pleasant to work with and seems to value customer satisfaction. Bonuses: they are affordable and they recycle! GJR will be my go-​to from now on and I highly recommend them.

WOW!
Just moved to the city on the Friday of Labor Day weekend. Had a ridiculous amount of moving boxes and packing material. After a long day of unpacking I need help to get rid of the debris. Initially called 1800GOTJUNK. Their crew arrived quoted me an insane price and told me that they wouldn’t be able to complete the job with one truck.
I started scanning local sites and I found Great Junk Removal. The owner Eric answered the phone and promised to get it knocked out that same evening. I was surprised when Eric himself arrived for the job. He was friendly, efficient and extremely professional. He clearly takes great pride in his business. Despite the late hour (well after 8PM) he took care of my junk with a very pleasant attitude.
I would without a doubt use Great Junk Removal for any job in the future.

Great Junk Removal is just that and more-​GREAT! After deciding to move into a new apartment downtown, it was finally time to get rid of the old junk and buy all new. Living in the city has its perks, but getting rid of junk can be hectic and add even more chaos to an already stressful move! A friend suggested to call Great Junk Removal. Eric and the gang did wonders. I was only concerned about getting rid of my junk, but Eric went beyond and turned my junk into another’s treasure; he donated my unwanted goods to the Salvation Army and Goodwill. I am going through a divorce and contacted Eric about removing some junk from the «man cave». He promptly replied and in three days time all of the badness was removed from the former cave. Eric and his team are extremely professional. He says he tries to re-​purpose most of the junk he removes, which is important to me. He returned my call promptly, followed up when he said he would, and showed up on time. He removed a big concrete slop sink, a huge air conditioner, and a lawn mower from my basement.
