I stopped by earlier today and there was a lack of professionalism from the stylist that attended me. While she was not in direct conversation with me, she was saying some vulgar things to the other hair stylist. I didn’t think it was appropriate for her to be having such a conversation like that in front of a customer. In addition, I think the cost of service was extremely high. I only had my tips trimmed and I was charged $ 40. Had I known this earlier, I probably would have just cut them myself. I understand there may be a set price for hair cuts, but let’s be real, $ 40 just to trim my hair? Ridiculous.

I am reviewing the Salon’s owner, Ben. His work and performance on my hair and color experience. I am NOT reviewing what he does, says or expresses in his personal life, social media or lifestyle. This said, I think Ben is a talented stylist, colorist and makeup artist.
He is always on top of style and color. If you are flexible with your schedule and can accommodate him I do recommended him as a stylist & colorist.

One of the worst experiences I’ve had. I first went to Glam Studio by Ben in August. I specifically called to book an appointment with Ben; it was so tough to get a hold of him. His salon’s contact number is actually his cell phone so he would not answer the call but only text back (ex. QUIEN ERES?) It was pretty weird. Anyways I had to book an appointment with him via his FB thru a message bc he never wrote back to my text.
The day of the appointment, he’s attending some other client. And nods when I walk in, mind you I told him this was my FIRST time with him. He just let me wait and didn’t really aknowledge me much. I still gave him the benefit of the doubt and this is when someone else addresses me and asked me what I was there for. I told her I had an appointment with him and when she tells him this he tells her he is too busy and would be a while. She then attempts to take care of me. At that point I prefer Zaul to take care of me. He also acts busy but does tell me he will be with me shortly. He gets me ready and applys my color. But has other people really do the work and apply the toner for what seemed like 10 min. I was extremely disappointed by the work. It was supposed to be an ombré. It looked like mess. It looked super fake and not at all gradual. I’ve gone other places and they feel a little bad for me, I can tell.
Anyways, I will not be going there anymore. It was super expensive. He, Ben, did not help much when it came to re-​do it (I had to call the next day and let him know I was unhappy with the first results). Now even less so that he said those disgusting comments about OUR paisanos in México, the 43 victims of Ayotiznapa.
Me parto el lomo trabajando para que un hombre que tiene poco respeto para el ser humano me haga un mugrero de trabajo y me cobré un montón de dinero. No gracias. Tiene el nopalote en la frente y se le ha olvidado ser humilde y que sobre todo tiene la gran dicha de tener sangre Mexicana correr por sus venas. Poco respeto que tienes Ben, la mayoría de tus clientes son Mexicanos. No sabes apreciar tus clientes, tu cultura y en general no hay respecto hacía tus clientes, su tiempo, su dinero y el ser humano en general.

He can be the exceptional hair dresser and designer, but has the heart of steel. Keep your anti-​Mexican comments to yourself. I can’t believe that Benjamin is also from Mexico can say something this bad for the students that were beaten to death. How can you compare roasted chicken with young people tortured and burnt in a garbage hole in the ground? Whether you like it or not, these are human beings that were murdered and their bodies completely obliterated through a massive fire using diesel and tires. You do not make a joke about this; you need to learn from your mistake. I will never go to this business again and I will tell all my family and friend what you think of your own people so they can pass the word to they contacts.

This guy is a completely joke. I went there asking for a haircut in my curly hair. I told him the lenght I wanted and he cutted ao short. I dont recommend this place… i just found out on the internet that he is making fun of the horrible thing that happened to 43 students in Mexico, and this juat make me sick. How a «professional» can make such horrible comments. But my review is about his poor service and my experince in his salon.

This salon is a total joke. Pretty, but that’s about it. Which is too bad, because they are somewhat talented, but laughably unprofessional. I went a couple of times and had my hair done by Ben the first time. He did a nice job, but it was impossible to make another appointment and when you did, he would either cancel, be late or simply not show up. I started going to one of his staff. I really liked her work, but again simply incredibly unprofessional. His «assistant» is 10 years old and I watched him clean the floor with dirty water, not wash his hands and start working on someone’s hair. Like I said, this place is a total joke. They simply do not understand the concept of customer service. I’d be surprised if this salon is still open a year from now. Save yourself the aggravation and go to a professional salon.

Horrible experiencia very unprofessional of Ben making racist comments about Mexicans and Afro Americans and making fun of the 43 students that got killed in Mexico… Never going to this place ever.

I Love this place! Zaul is the best hair and makeup stylist, I have found my new stylist, my cousin recommened Zaul to me and ever since then I have been coming here love it!

I first heard about this studio last year. My friend had had her hair colored there and was pleased with her results. She told me how saul did makeup and hair for weddings and with my upcoming nuptials I was really excited to try them out. I contacted saul and made an appointment the day of my appointment I get a text message from saul asking if I can pick him up at home??? I didn’t want to be rude so I accepted. I walked in to the studio and discussed my wedding plan and what I wanted to look like.
Two hours later saul decided it would be a good idea if my mom and I would buy him lunch. We were also hungry so we drove to a local restaurant picked up food. Sat an had food. Awkward given the fact that we met a couple hours prior.
120 $$!! Dollars later plus lunch my makeup hair trial was done.
Being my first time getting a trial done I paid and booked him fpr my wedding. I must have told him the date 10 times that day. I booked for seven girls hair/​makeup.
About a month later my husband and I booked an engagement session photoshoot and I called saul so he can do my hair and makeup. It took him 4 hours to do it. He never booked me so he was trying to work me in between other clients.
At the time I was so excited about my wedding that I didn’t realize this guy is a total joke. Another 120 $$ plus tip later my makeup and hair were done. I was horrifed when I got my pictures back. I looked cackey and exaggerated. He told me u needed alot of makeup because it translated better in picture. We spoke again about the wedding day and prices and even location.
I hated my pictures!
3 weeks before my wedding I see a Facebook post on my newsfeed. Saul announcing that he would be on vacation for a month… I immediately contact him asking if he would be back in time for my wedding. To what he replied well you never confirmed with me so i booked a flight… I didnt know what to say. I was so mad and panicked. I asked him to reffer me to someone else. He gave me the name and number of some lady that did my makep with dollar store makeup and applied itnwith her fingers… no brushes nothing. Needless to say i did not hire her.
I completely cut ties with this unprofessional man and bloked him from my Facebook page. Only so he can contact my friend that refferd me to him and have her give me a nasty mesaage from him.
I don’t personally know ben, I saw him at the salon once. But BEN if you care about your business and reputation fire this jokester. He has been the worst experience ever!
Six months later I added my Unilocal app to find a message from saul unapologetic and being extra nasty to me. Hope you had a nice dinner with the money you ripped me off with dude ppl like you don’t stay in business long. Oh! And ben thanks for your passive aggressive response you weren’t even there to witness your disgraceful employees. Peace dudes wish you guys the best. Even if saul is a petty diva! ;)

I love Ben’s work!!! I always walk into his location a total mess and I walk out like a movie star. I am very public because of my work and he gives me the look that fits me. Ben knows hair, skin types and what matches based on you, even when you don’t. I never know what could fit me, but I go to Ben and he does awesome work. Very few stylists know how to bring the best out of you and he does that, every single time. You want to look beautiful with your own attributes, go to Ben and he’ll do the rest. I also, took my daughter and she loved her haircut by Ben’s staff. Thank you Ben!!!

Ben is amazing! A true hair artist!!!

awesome awesome! been coming to him for 2 years! only person than can touch my hair! i always love my hair when he does it… he is super friendly and knows what he is doing! #1 hairstylist in chicago! no one compares! if you need a new hairstyle color and cut you need to go to him! he knows what colors and styles are in fashion. he is super involved in the industry!

Sad to say that I was very disappointed about my make up and hair for my wedding day.
The hairdo trial that I got from Ben was amazing but no so much the day of.
The make up was definitely a no, no. Horrible eyelash application and the foundation was too dark for my complexion and too heavy (maybe due to the cheap make up bottle that she used). I would’ve been much, much happier if I would’ve done it myself.
Having said that, I will say that I might go back for haircuts (this is why the extra one star) because I did take my son a few weeks before and I loved how his hair turned out and that’s very rare. Especially for a non-​special occasion when I wouldn’t mind so much.
I also need to add that when I got there I asked for some water (I was soooo busy that i had forgotten to drink water all day) and the girl that started prepping my hair said they had no water whatsoever. However, later I asked Ben and he sent his apprentice to the store for a bottle of water which I thought was very nice.
Very sad that out of my entire wedding experience my hair and makeup choice was my only regret.
