Gavin Pest Control

I really can’t say enough about the wonderful services I have received from Gavin Pest Control! They have helped me with pests of all sizes — which is why this post is to long! I have found the employees of Gavin Pest Control to be knowledgeable, sympathetic, and thorough in my times of need. While I would love to assume that you’ll have no need for pest control, let’s be honest.. .you live in CHICAGO! Pests HAPPEN! The following are three of the experiences I’ve had where Gavin Pest Control has helped me .
Living in an old apartment in Chicago, I’d seen the occasional creepy crawly pest. The silverfish (you know.. .those little things that look like eyebrows that sneak up on you in the shower) and water bugs (that LOOK like giant roaches but really aren’t) were how it started. TOTALLY normal to find, yet totally gross! Gavin Pest Control came and sprayed along the base boards and put gel in the places the creepy crawlies were likely to hang out. It worked like magic! They started dropping like flies!
While I would love to say that my need for pest control ended there, I wasn’t so lucky. Let me explain what happened. I thought it was safe to put my garbage outside of my back door (between the door and the screen door) because I was on the third floor. I was wrong. I heard a beer bottle clanking against my door and realized my mistake. I kicked at the door, hoping to chase whatever it was away. When I didn’t hear anything, I opened the door and saw the hole in the bag. Seeing no movement and still hearing nothing, I attempted to rebag the garbage so I wouldn’t leave a trail down my stairs when I took it down to the dumpsters. As soon as I moved to the part of the bag where the hole was, a GIANT rat jumped out and ran into my living room! Seriously! GIANT!
After I recovered from the shock, I contacted Gavin Pest Control. Mike walked me through blocking off the area and then he came and set traps. Not only was Mike thorough, he was kind. He didn’t make me feel like an idiot for not only inviting, but bringing a rat in. He gave me some suggestions to prevent rodent pests from coming again (including taking my garbage to the dumpster right away) and things to look out for. MUCH appreciated advice! I stayed with a friend for a couple days and when I returned, the rat was trapped.. .in a squirrel trap! I TOLD you it was big!
My third pest was much smaller, but MUCH creepier! I had been on a family vacation in Kentucky and discovered an odd looking bug on my blanket, so I put it in a ziplock bag and contacted Gavin Pest Control. I sent them the picture and they told me that from the looks of it, it was a bed bug. I FREAKED OUT! No one wants to have bed bugs! Gavin Pest Control kept me calm and gave me advice on what to do to make sure I didn’t bring the pests home. Following their advice, I treated all of my clothes and items and sealed items I thought might have been compromised and put them in quarantine. The employees at Gavin Pest Control also gave me tips on how to check the places I travel for bed bugs so I could to be proactive.
It was later confirmed by the lodge’s exterminator that what I found was, indeed, a bed bug. Had I not contacted Gavin Pest Control, who KNOWS how many of my family members would have brought them home! Thanks to their tips and advice (which I followed to a T), no bed bugs came home with me or any of my family members! If they did, I know Gavin Pest Control is the first call I’d make to take care of it!
I know this post is long, but I really can’t say enough wonderful things about the service I have received from Gavin Pest Control! The employees are kind and considerate and able to get the job done! I recommend them to all my friends in need. No one wants to have pests, but when you do it’s nice to have knowledgeable people to turn to that you can trust!
