Full Psycle

Love, love, love! By far my favorite spin class of all time! The workouts are so much fun that they don’t even feel like workouts. The instructors are very motivating and the wet towels at the end of class are the best!

Really enjoy the 45 minute classes here. I’ve gone to a few different instructors and all are great with their own personality mixed into the class.
Only suggestion I have is better air flow. I know its good to sweat when working out, but the stiff air from all the hot bodies in a small room gets overwhelmingly hot. Also the stereo system may need an update, constantly goes in and out and really fuzzy noises when the instructor moves her headset the wrong way.
I used to have a monthy membership, although I enjoyed the class it was just a bit too hot and I wanted to mix up my workout routine a bit more than just a spin class.
But would for sure mix these guys into a weekly workout routine.

Did my first spin class here today… Needless to say I am exhausted! Great class! The energy in the room is great. The class that I attended was mostly cardio with a hint of strength training at the end. Highly recommend! Can’t wait to go back for more!

Took a class here tonight and I had high expectations based on the other reviews but unfortunately I can’t share in their enthusiasm for this place.
I didn’t mind the stats on the screen but I would prefer to also have my individual stats on my bike so I could know my RPM even when its not showing on the board. I also really don’t like that you can’t measure the resistance and you basically have to adjust based on your own preference. I have been to other studios that don’t show you a resistance number or percentage but the instructors are clear to tell you «one turn» «two turns» etc so you can really maximize your time in class and get a great workout. At other studios I’m used to a combination of hills and sprints but at Full Psycle I felt it was just a lot of sprints with high recovery time; I think adding in drills at a high resistance could help break up the monotony of the class.
Another thing which struck me was that the instructor wasn’t actually spinning with us. I’m not sure if she was sick or injured or just tired but it is a little hard in a class in which you don’t know how high your resistance should be or where your RPMs should be when you can’t even watch the instructor and try to match his/​her pace.

Great studio! The instructors know their stuff, make it full and challenging for all levels. 1^st week is free to help you decide plus lots of package options depending on your goal.

I’ve tried a lot of spin classes and studios with Class Pass and Full Psycle is by far my favorite. Unlike other studios where you spend most of the class out of the saddle, Full Psycle allows you to pick your position to put forth your maximum effort. This class is a fun class if your new to spin, but also is a great indoor option for serious cyclists and triathletes during the winter months. I love that the board stays up the full time displaying your effort so you can keep pushing yourself, unlike at FlyWheel where they selectively show the board. The mile challenge is always a great test and I look forward to it every class. The cold towel at the end of the workout is always a welcome surprise and is always much needed after the intense workout.
Also, David is by far the best spin instructor I’ve had at any studio or gym before.

Absolutly love this place. I’ve been going here since January and with good diet, and going 2−3x a week I’ve lost 8 lbs. it’s clean, everyone is nice, and they give you free water and an ice cold towel at the end of the workout to cool you down. Def try this place :)

Love it! I think this is my favorite class on ClassPass. I’ve tried Flywheel and Power Sculpt, and this is way better.
This place is unexpectedly posh– they give you water at the beginning and scented towels at the end. The sprints and challenges are very motivating and make the time pass faster. I also think that having my stats on the big screen makes me push harder.
There are usually two weight sessions in a class, so I walk out with a full body workout. When you walk out of class, you get an email with your stats from that session. It’s great to see my power scores improving over time.
My only hope is that this place doesn’t get too popular– I want to be able to get into classes last minute!

I used to enjoy going to classes here, until all of my purchased classes expired with no warning and they would not work with me to reinstate any of them. The GM ignored my email when I asked about it the first time, and only when I followed up a 2^nd time did she provide a reply, when it was too late and the classes had expired already.
Nowhere on the website does it state that monthly membership classes or promotions purchased on holidays expire when not used — beware this little hidden fact if you plan to go here.
Update — after exchanging multiple emails, I logged into my account to find 8 classes had been reinstated. I am happy about this, but wish the guidelines were a little more clear on the website so this situation could have been avoided.

I went to Full Psycle for the first time today. I have been going to other studios such as Soul Cycle for a while. Comparing the two the overall format and tone of each is unique but the exercise value and focus I think is much better here. It has a competitive aspect to it which I like. The instructor and everyone that worked there was great. From someone that works out 5 or 6 days a week I highly recommend it as part of your routine.

I AM HOOKED! I have loved my experience at Full Psycle. The staff are all extremely nice and David is the man! He has so much energy and keeps the class working hard. I feel like I am not only working to push myself harder but I am working to benefit the class which is such great motivation! I really like receiving an email with my results following class. Another reason to make me come back and work harder. I wish there was a place like this in St. Louis because I am sure going to miss my early mornings at Full Psycle! Though I haven’t gone to any classes other than David’s I cannot recommend his classes enough! Great place, great energy, great workout!

Full Psycle is the class I drag myself out of bed for every Saturday morning. As many others mention it has free parking which is so convenient. This is a competitive environment which I enjoy. I love trying to push myself to do better and looking at the personal record chalkboard in the front only pushes me to do better. That being said there are some classes with more regulars where I will be in the back half but with the name numbers be towards the front. At the end of the day I always look online to compare how I’m doing each class.
The instructors are so friendly and energetic. I love taking classes with David and Caroleen. They will keep you motivated even when you want to be in the blue which means you are crashing! They rotate the theme rides between classes, but I wish they just had theme days since those can mix it up and I’m not always able to make the other class times.
I have been to Flywheel but not Soulcycle and like Full Psycle better. I just feel more accountable when your stats are on the big screen. Understandably this may not be for everyone. They do focus on short bursts with some of the longest pushes being a mile push or a 3 minute push. By the end of both I’m exhausted. I enjoy that will all the different metrics provided I can see my areas of improvement whether it be strength or distance.
I will second that it is a small lobby and can get pretty crowded especially when they are doing special events.

I first came to Full Psycle because they are conveniently located and offer a great intro deal of one free week of classes. To make things easy, I’ll just list what I consider my personal pros and cons of this studio, but I’ll tell you up front that I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys taking spin classes or anyone who has never tried it but wants to.
Pros:
— Online booking and automatic performance tracking for each class.
— Free water, free use of cycle shoes, lockers, weights, towels.
— Great staff and instructors who are friendly and helpful.
— Super early classes and a few evening options during the week.
— Free parking.
Cons:
— Tightly packed studio. When working with weights in a full class, I feel like I spend more time trying not to smack the person next to me than I do focusing on the weights.
— Classes are only before work and after work hours. There are no options for a mid-​day workout. I wish they had at least one or two classes a week in the middle of the day for people who have non-​traditional schedules and/​or those who work from home and like to hit the gym on their lunch break. Other local fitness studios offer this and I always take advantage.
One other thing to note is they really incorporate competition into each class. They even mention it on their website. I’m bringing this up because I’m not a competitive person, so I’m not motivated by how I stack up against other people. I enjoy working out and I always try to push myself, but I honestly don’t care if the person riding bike #12 is the fastest rider in the class or the slowest. I’m there to put in work and feel better about myself. The performance board at the front of the class is cool to keep track of your performance, but you’re meant to focus on the board for most of the 45 minutes and sometimes I just want to focus on getting in a rhythm.
There are lots mini races, sprints, and relays — only a few longer stretches where you can really focus on getting that rhythm — but I do appreciate how they mix it up and keep it fun.
Overall, it’s a fun environment with great people and while it’s not my only means of working out, I will pay them a visit for as long as they are in the neighborhood.

I was running a little late for my first class and was worried that they wouldn’t be able to accommodate me. As soon as I walked in, Jason– at the front dest, greeted me and was extremely nice and helpful. He explained to me the layout of the gym and how to set the bike according to your height and preference and even walked me to my bike while the class was in session. Overall, I had a great workout and will definitely come back for more!
Great energy, friendly staff, and free parking!

Now, I haven’t tried Soul Cycle yet to be fair, but right now, Full Psycle is my favorite spinning/​cycling place in Chicago, even over Flywheel. I used to work closer to their location, so unfortunately I don’t get to go as often as I’d like to now, but they have specials every now and then on 5-​packs, etc, so I’ll still buy a few and go when I can. And when I can, it’s so great!
The teachers are great — I haven’t had any who have been lackluster. They even shout out your name if you’re pushing it hard and say things like «Yeah, Stephani, kill it!» to get you going even more. The whole class is made up of several races, individual and then by row, and they are so encouraging, enthusiastic and pumped! Also, the music helps! The playlists are great.
But besides being a great class, it’s the little things for me: it’s in a great location off of Clybourn with tons of parking; they give you free water — completely free water bottles! just about every other place makes you pay $ 1-​$ 2 for that! And free towel service. I have done (very few) early morning classes here, too, and they have two spacious bathrooms with showers, stocked with bigger bath towels, razors, Paul Mitchell shampoo, shower gel, hair ties, bobby pins, etc.
On top of that, everyone is always super friendly, even though I’m sporadically there. Definitely check it out!

I have been coming to Full Psycle since it opened and have loved every minute of it. The instructors and front desk people are great; informative, easy to follow, pick great music for classes, and first and foremost they have tons of energy in class and make you really push it.
I’ve taken other spin classes and I would say this is my favorite studio for these reasons equally: Clean, social, great instructors, the free water cooler, the water bottle fill up, the free use of shoes, the music and the aromatic cold towel they give you after every workout. This place is great and always stays consistent to the high standards that they have placed for themselves. I would 100% recommend trying it out if you haven’t you’ll be hooked.

This place kicks my booty every time I go! Each of the instructors I’ve worked out with has been excellent — pushing me so hard my lungs and legs burn!
There are screens at the front of the class that keep track of everything in comparison with the other riders. Sometimes the class is full, other times there are maybe a half dozen riders. Either way, there is always a good group of athletes and I leave feeling great!

LOVE!
As an avid spinner, I absolutely love Full Psycle spin classes. I could care less about competing against the other people in class. What I care about the most is being able to see where I stand, how many calories I actually do burn, and being able to see what exactly it feels like when the instructor tells you to give it 80%, 90%, and etc. These classes are much better than the traditional spin classes that are offered at your gym and I feel that you burn more calories in these classes as well.
If you give Full Psycle a try, I suggest you try Neomi’s class first if possible. I am not dissing the other instructors as I have not taken their classes, but Neomi was a sub at my local gym and her music and style was so off the chain, that I had to follow her.

It’s the new year, I’m getting old and fat… so that means I need a new workout. Granted, I had been a spin instructor in a past life, so I always enjoy a good spin class, but this was definitely different.
What I like:
You do it in the dark. I don’t know why that’s important, but I like it.
You can see your progress on the screens. Granted, I was in last place the entire time (I still don’t know why– maybe it’s related to how much I weigh?) but I did manage to beat the bike that nobody was on.
The fact that the class flies Nothing worse than a spin class where it’s dragging and you’re collecting sweat underneath your butt waiting for it to end.
The email I get on my progress right away, and the fact that monthly packages can be cancelled at any time.
What could be improved:
The 8 hour cancellation policy. If they have a waitlist, I think 2 hours is reasonable.
The use of weights– while I like how they incorporate the weights, too much of it could lead to shoulders that roll forward, which is already happening with use of the handlebars. Incorporate some scapula retraction/​back work.
Finding the place for the first time. A map on the web would be helpful.
I would recommend this as an addition to your workout or to try something new.

It’s my «Happy Place.»
And by happy place I mean the place where I sweat more than I’ve ever sweat in my life, leave all my problems at the door, and get in amazing shape!
Yes, I simultaneously hate my life a little and feel like I am going to throw up throughout most of the class but the pay off (healthy heart, strong body, clear mind) is beyond worth it.
And it is FUN!
As the reigning «power by pound» champion (you are ranked against the other bikers according to body weight/​total power, which accumulates over the course of the class) at the California location, I HAD to check out the Lincoln Park location when I was in town visiting my family for the holiday.
I show up bright and early, decked out in my Full Psycle apparel, eager to check out the Chicago version of my California obsession.
FULL PSYCLE CHICAGO DID NOT DISAPPOINT!
Top 10 best things about the Chicago location:
1. The Performance IQ board. This is where you can see your performance over the course of the class. It tells you how hard you are working (no cheating!) and ranks you (according to bike number, not name, don’t worry) against the other riders. You get a ranking according to your overall «power» (RPMs * resistance) as well as «power by pound» (that factors in your body weight). Please don’t feel performance anxiety against the other riders — everyone is too focused on how miserable they are to pay much attention to anyone except the person right before or below them on the board. You can also track your heart rates, engage in «team races» according to the row you are in, you are never board during class because they mix it up so much! The 45 minutes FLYS by! Your personal stats are emailed to you after each class so you can track your performance over time.
2. The mini-​races. The whole class is a race, but there are also shorter races where you get to practice sprinting. Here’s where you can have your moment of glory and beat whoever you are trailing in the overall stats.
3. The staff! Instructors were tough but inspiring! Will push you to your limit! Front staff was welcoming and helpful.
4. Tons of parking!
5. The physical location — huge lobby area — complimentary lockers with locks. Bright and spacious! BATHROOMS WITH SHOWERS, RAZORS, SHAMPOO — the works!
6. Complimentary water and towel service!
7. Great apparel. I think I own at least 5 sweatshirts and three tanks. And I am constantly resisting adding to my wardrobe. So cute and comfortable!
8. THE WORKOUT! I’ve seen people completely transform their bodies through this workout. It is truly amazing. You will learn to push yourself more than you ever thought possible.
9. The supportive environment. If you are a competitive athlete you will love crushing the competition. But there’s a place for you if you’re a little less hard core. My mom still loves it and she’s almost 60 (although likes to remind me that she is the «original spinner», having taken spinning classes since the inception of indoor cycling).
10. THE RESULTS! Seriously, this workout is effective. And fun! You get a free trial week at the Chicago location so seriously what are you waiting for?
