Business Owner

Emmett R. McCarthy attended Mt. Carmel High School. He graduated from the University of Illinois and received his Juris Doctor from DePaul University College of Law. He has spoken at seminars for the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and the Chicago Bar Association. He is past Chair of the Real Estate Taxation Committee and the Tax Sale and Tax Deed Subcommittee of the Chicago Bar Association.

Mr. McCarthy has handled a wide range of medical malpractice, personal injury, real estate and business litigation. He worked on two jury trials that resulted in verdicts for his clients that were Cook County records. He also handled a jury trial in which his client pierced the defendant’s «corporate veil,» then levied against the defendant’s real estate to satisfy the judgment and accrued interest. His practice is concentrated in real estate tax sale, tax deed and exemption matters; Indemnity Fund proceedings; and real estate and business transactions and litigation.
