Farmer’s Fridge

My GF and I stopped by it. We ordered different salads.
We were both very happy with the quality and very fresh ingredients.

I purchased the Gilt promotion they offered back in December for home delivery of 2 days worth of food. so this is a review of that.
when ordering for delivery you have to book online over 48 hours before the delivery you only can get delivery on Mon/​Wed/​Friday. I live in lake shore east. I’m not sure of the delivery area coverage. I got 4 different salads. 2 snacks, 2 breakfasts and 2 proteins.
Overall the food is really nice and fresh for being prepackaged. As a vending machine option, I think this is wonderful and amazing. As a food delivery there is much better out there for the price.
The salads are rather large portions I attached a picture of one of the salads so you can get an idea of the portion size. the meats are tasty, but VERY small portions. same with the snacks. I was very impressed with the «cookie dough.“snack. tastes just like raw cookie dough. The salads have nutrition info on them, however the snacks do not… so who knows… the fake cookie dough may have the caloric content of actual cookie dough. most of the salads came with iceberg lettuce which I’m not a fan of. the dressings offered with the salads were good and the salad combos are done well.
I would not use them for delivery again.

A vending machine that dispenses fresh food? Be still my heart! Can we get one of these at O’Hare?
I stopped into this 7 – 11 and was surprised to see that this 7 – 11 is being re configured for a new look (I’ll write another review for that) but what was most intersting to me was this «Farmers Fridge» vending machine that dispensed fresh, wholesome foods in a high tech way.
I got there early enough to watch the machine being stocked for the day (the sign says made daily and at least it was stocked that day with the old product removed and new product added)
The salads run about $ 8 for the jar (about the size of a mason jar) and there are additional items that you can buy for «$ 2.95 (come in a small baby food like jar) like protein flax seed cubes, chicken and there was even a quinoa breakfast bowl that was quite good.
Ordering is easy with the touch screen and you are immediately emailed a receipt.
If you want a bowl to pour your salad into– those are avaialble on one side of the machine and on the other is a space to drop off the jar to recycle for the next time (or you can take it with you).
Interesting concept that has several locations around town.

Just ordered a Farmer’s Fridge over Grubhub and it was amazing! I ordered the Cheater salad, which is basically their low-​calorie version of a cobb salad (even with the dressing it was under 400 calories). It was full of tasty ingredients like turkey bacon, white cheddar, egg, sunflower seeds, corn and grape tomatoes.
The salad was delivered very fast and you could definitely tell how fresh it was. They have mastered the idea of layering their ingredients in a way that keeps the lettuce from getting wilted with all the heavy ingredients at the bottom. The dressing was a tangy honey mustard sauce and I thought the amount they provided was perfect.
I thought the size of the salad was very generous as well as the portions of the ingredients and I felt satisfied after chowing it down. It’s pretty hard to believe that a salad this flavorful was under 400 calories.
This is seriously the perfect thing to order during the workday, very filling yet not heavy or unhealthy, I would definitely buy it again.

Farmer’s Fridge is essentially a salad vending machine inside of ⁷⁄₁₁. Except the salads don’t look nasty, per usual vending machine standards. They actually look pretty darn delicious and are prepared in the morning and stocked daily in the vending machine.
After seeing it pop up inside ⁷⁄₁₁ a few weeks ago after the remodel, I finally decided to try one for a late night snack instead of McDonald’s or something else unhealthy. There was only one salad left at 11 p.m., the High Protein Salad, so I ordered it. I was $ 8.00, which was a little more than I wanted to pay for a salad, but I ended up not regretting it. The salad itself was as fresh as it looked, delicious, and I was surprised as to how filling it was.
The touch screen vending machine was very easy to use, and gave the option of adding protein sides (chicken or tuna) that were dispensed in a separate container. My only complaints about the whole experience: you need to obtain your own utensils as they aren’t included, and the salad «jar» was a bit too small to mix up the ingredients/​dressing properly. I’d also like to spend a bit less on one, but wouldn’t we all?
Four stars for the salad, but five over-​all, because I really like ideas like this. Can’t wait to try another!
