Family Dentist

This place should be shut down! Nothing but scams. Everyone that goes there needs a deep cleaning, that’s how they make their money. One dentist that worked there confessed to me that she was obligated to tell her Public Aid patients that they needed deep cleanings because public aid wouldn’t pay for them so they had these poor patients paying cash for unnecessary work. They’d scare patients and tell them they would lose their teeth if they didn’t have the deep cleaning. There are two locations so beware, second one is on North Avenue close to Pulaski.

Update. I went through the process and filed a complaint. Also, if you are going to reply to my post, why not touch on the very poor customer service! In addition, nothing was said about the ridiculous quote that I received for a cleaning. Or the fact that the dentist decided to not complete the work on my tooth mid process which was a complete insult to my intelligence and a very ridiculous behavior for a professional to have. This is the type of establishment that you visit when you have no other recourse, this is not a reputable dentist, this is not an establishment that will treat you well and give you quality customer service, this place is a total rip off, it is also dirty and it is in a very sketchy neighborhood! I have nothing good to say about this disgusting business. Thank you

On Tuesday November 25, 2014 my mom and I went into FullSmile Family Dentist because I had an appointment to get my wisdom teeth removed by Dr Steven Fischman. In the beginning he explained what he was going to do and what to expect and all the pre teeth surgery details and then numbed the right side of my gums and jaw. My mom being a concerned parent as any other would, asked a simple question of why no stitches would be required on the upper incisions. He very rudely and with an attitude just said «Because I don’t recommend it and I am the doctor, but if you know someone that does this you can go to them». As he was going to start the procedure he went on to let me know that he would numb the left side as he started to work on the right so the left would be ready. Reasonable right? So he made his incision and then abruptly stopped! After about 5 minutes he came in claiming the suction wasn’t working and that he could not work like that but he could «stitch me up. No big deal» his exact words and I could «come back another day». First off, I had made this appointment the day before seeing that I am a college student and I have finals in two weeks that I cannot miss so this appointment was my only chance and my mom had requested the day off work, «coming back» was not acceptable. Secondly, why had he not checked his tools to make sure they were working BEFORE cutting me? What professional does this? He went on to say that we could wait to find a suction that worked. How is there no suction working in a dentist’s office that had basically about 10 rooms available and a waiting room full of patients? I waited about two hours in that dentist’s office, bleeding onto the gauze which was changed probably every 30 minutes because the bleeding couldn’t stop, and numbed up from the anesthetic. I ended up leaving here WITH THE INCISION OPEN, to go find another dentist that could at least remove that one tooth where the incision was already located. Needless to say this doctor is BEYOND unprofessional, he is someone I would NEVER let come near my teeth or the teeth of others and he is definitely not suitable to bear the title «DDS».

Came in for a cleaning (wanted to use my insurance). First let me say my appointment was at 9, but their staff started coming in at 9:15. Second I didn’t get called till around 9:30. Third they couldn’t find my chart, which I understand, last time I was here was back in 2009. Not to sound whiney but my cleaning was only a polish (kids cleaning) and only my bottom teeth were polished, nothing was done to my top teeth. To make things worst they cut me! The dentist does recommend a deep cleaning every two years after age 20, which can’t be correct for everyone since everyone has different hygiene.

Came here for a cleaning and was told I needed a deep cleaning. I didnt want to pay 318 bucks (with insurance) for a deep cleaning because I cant afford 300 bucks. I was given a toothbrush and was sent on my way. Thanks for nothing next time I will save the trip and time and just buy a toothbrush from CVS. I should have read the reviews of this place.

My husband had been seeing a male dentist who was a total dick. During a deep clean and cavity procedure the dentist wouldn’t let my husband express that he couldn’t breathe, and my husband literally had to jump out of the chair as soon as he stopped for a moment. During the whole procedure this guys body language was completely unprofessional, sighing, huffing and puffing. Tries to sell procedures that are not medically necessary! Not to mention insurance scams, and fraudulent claims!!!

On 5÷30÷2013 I visited this dentist for the first time for a checkup and standard cleaning. After my exam, I was notified that I had two cavities (for which I consented to same-​day correction) and I was asked to pay before services were rendered. Under my Blue Cross PPO plan I paid my co-​pays for the work I thought I was having done (annual deductible and 2 fillings). However, when I asked for a breakdown of charges they informed me that I had been charged $ 75 for a cleaning, which should be completely covered by my insurance. The receptionist said that they only offer kids cleanings, moderate cleanings and deep cleanings, so since I was an adult they gave me a moderate cleaning and then charged me for it! I was never «sold» this moderate cleaning but it was done without my permission, consent and explanation that I would be charged considerably for it.
I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and am notifying my insurance company of the incident. I will not return to this place of business.

I’m pretty sure the insurance and management issues have been resolved, because I had a great experience. I was able to get in for my first appointment right away, and they were totally upfront with me about my treatment plan and what everything would cost (I needed a few fillings). Then we talked about my options (amalgam vs composite; insurance co-​pay difference is huge between the two), and they actually tried to help me save money. Dr. Escobar is great, and the front office staff are friendly and helpful. The Delta Dental HMO options in the city aren’t always great, but I’m happy at Full Smile.

cheers, cheers, cheers… I cannot rave enough in every aspect… people who blessed with «perfect» teeth will never understand the daily (and sometimes hourly) plight that those of us who don’t have them go through… Dr. Letrero is a master sculpture… Jesenia, who assists her, is a true professional… beyond these ladies skills, they bring something intangible… a sense of true concern and empathy for patients while keeping a difficult situation as light as possible… the offices are inviting and pristine… I’ve been here several times over the past few weeks, and with each visit, every individual I’ve interacted with has been profressional, yet thoroughly inviting and friendly… thank you, thank you, THANK YOU…

WARNING! It’s sad that I have to write this but somebody has to report this! Full Smile Family Dentist is overcharging the insurance and as a patiens were paying 20% of it, and unfortunat the Manager by the name of Lisset which I don’t know her last name because the staff did not want to provid me with it at the time of the incident. My insurance was overcharge in the bigining of 2011 for some extraction’s which I never had done and the reason I found out was because know that I actually need them extract the insurance shows that this prosidure has been already done and do not want to cover me anymore, and the worst part of it is that the manager Lisset did not give me any aswer or solution to the problem instead turned around and walked away! I wonder how many other patient insurances have been affected by this dirty actions.

Dr. Letrero is awesome! Nobody likes to go to the dentist but she makes it as painless as possible and she is super friendly!

This place just gets better every time. Once again, I just walked in today because I wanted my teeth cleaned before I go on vacation. I did not have an appt (I never do) and I was called in 5 minutes. I think that they have a high turnover rate for their dentists because I never see the same dentist twice. While this might not be good for kids… I don’t mind because I always meet an awesome «new dentist who is even better than the last.
Today I saw Dr.Latrero.She is super awesome. I never felt rushed, she answered all of my 1 million questions, and she made my Grill look hot! She even advised me on a different insurance plan within my insurance that would allow me to get another service that I need… Coolness. I really hope that they can keep her there.
But, yea… its really 4 ½ stars because the bathroom is always messy.

Dr. Quon is very fake and unprofessional. During my last exam in Febuary I got a deep cleaning done, which was justifed sine I hadn’t been to the dentist in four years. During the expensive deep cleaning process she attempted to clean me with no anestetic (I asume as to save money for herself) which I was told was not correct procedure by a dentists freind in St. Louis. During a deep cleaning you always adminster local anestetic. She also fakely and condescendingly called me DEAR all the time. While she cleaned my teeth with her assistant, the two acted as though I wasn’t even there and continued clucking like chickens about all the office gossip and Dr. Quons marital troubles, which from the stories I was hearing, her husband is a fucking saint if he can put up with her selfishness and immaturity. She has the personality of that fake cheerleader type of girl in high school… only Dr. Quon is probaly in her 30’s. My real big kicker is I just went back for a six month check up and she claimed that I needed ANOTHER deep cleaning. Ok, how is it I just got one of these expensive procedures done six months ago, and now I need another? It sems justifed after four years, but six months? RIP OFF! Save yourself the High School bullshit… don’t go here.

I thought I had found a great dentist, but then found out when I came in for my check up that Full Smile had fired her. They also told me that all of my four fillings had fallen out — scary because I had them done at the same time I had my front teeth fixed after smacking them into a microphone. All I could think was, «Sheeesh! Are my front teeth about to go too?!!» Anyway, Long story short, they wouldn’t fix the fillings that they said had fallen out. I was told the «manager» or «boss» — the «toothmastah», had to see me. When I finally got in, 2 weeks later, HE said that there was nothing wrong with my teeth, that the person who saw me just didn’t want to re-​do the fillings for free! Basically, I STILL don;t know if my fillings are or are not in my mouth. I am currently looking for a new dentist, but I hate them more than poop pie, so I’ve been putting it off. There are 15,000 dentists on this stretch of Fullerton. Try any one of them before going to Full Smile.

After getting brushed off and/​or treated rudely by other offices I called as a first tiem patient, I made an appointment and Full Smile with a polite and helpful receptionist. I was pleased to find the waiting room, bathroom and exam rooms very clean and well organized. I got right in, had x-​rays taken, a tooth pulled and I was out of there. It was great, no waiting around, no bull. I showed the doctor which tooth was bothering me and out it came, there you go. I do have a few other things I need to get done but she didn’t hassle me about them, which was what I was really afriad of. I will definately go back for my other dental needs.
