I’ve been pretty loyal to my brows but my regular esthetician is currently on maternity leave so I gave European wax center a try. Jackie did an amazing job! She walked me through each step of the waxing process. She removed only what needed to be waxed and offered to fill in my brows. She introduced their new product line (brow pencil my new fav product) and recommended the shade that matches my brows. 15 min, professional and extremely sweet!

Katie is very consistent; been going to her for a year now and I get a great wax and great conversation every time.

Mary did a great job on my back and shoulders! Far less painful than previous waxes at other salons. Will definitely go back there and was happy to learn that they also have locations in New York. Great service, experience, and value.

About 2 months ago I was a «model» for one of the trainee on the Logan Square location for a leg wax… Loved it! This is my second appointment with Mary at Lincoln Square location. Just had my first Brazilian with her! She is super nice, made me feel comfortable. U know that you have to go «Commando» on the table.
I bought the 9 waxes and I am getting 3 free !!

If you want to get waxed, go to Brittany! She is in my Top 2 ever for a quick, relatively painless, and thorough wax. I’ve gone to multiple places and people for waxes, and she is definitely great at her job. She’s also really friendly!

Brittany does an amazing job. Sweet, not too talkative but very friendly. She makes the 20 minute appointment as comfortable and painless as possible. Thanks again to their seriously amazing wax!
Not a huge fan of the up selling by the front desk. Corp place as they want you to buy packages for less money. It feels forced. Plus i don’t feel the value is entirely all there. They could totally lose that part to make it feel less corporate and they would have a slam dunk!

Jackie is absolutely amazing, she is so quick and keeps your mind off what is happening. The time flies and then all of a sudden you are done. I major plus. I have been to other European Wax spas and they are great but finding a great waxed at one is even better !

I had a great experience in every way here today. I called for a same day appointment and was able to get one. Front desk staff was great and the fabulous Shar worked her magic on me. She did a fabulous job and was knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. I highly recommend her. This is my new (and improved) go to place. Thanks again Shar!

Second time at this location and I am very disappointed. Not up to par and what I have come to expect from other EWC.

I go to this European Wax Center because it’s literally steps from the Western brown line. I’ve had a few hit or miss experiences with different waxers, but found one that does an amazing job — Brittany is fast, friendly, and there’s hardly any pain or irritation. Minus one star because I think the experience is highly dependent on who your appointment is with, but Brittany is the best. Also super affordable and you get money back for referring your friends.

I am never supporting this business ever again! Right from the get go you are told they don’t offer a spa like experience which personally I don’t mind. But… the wax was burning me really bad and when I told the technician she just shrugged her shoulders like saying… I warned you this won’t be Spa like experience… I told her several times and no fucks were given! Also the older woman at the front is so pushy and obnoxious!

The waxing services themselves are fine. Not horrible but rarely 5-​star-​worthy: a little tweeting is usually needed when I get home.
The biggest issue I have with this place is with their double-​standard «late policy.» According to their website, if you are more than 9 minutes late, your appointment will be forfeited. That’s fine – I get it – late clients push the schedule back for everyone else. So, as a client, you can’t be late.
However, the last few times I have been there, I have waited more than 10 minutes for my appointment past the time it was scheduled. At best, I get a weak acknowledgement from the receptionist that I may have to wait a bit longer. Waiting, in general, is not my favorite thing, but the fact that I need to be there on time while the company shows little to no regard for my time makes me feel disrespected as a client.
No thanks.

I can not describe how horrible my experience was. I called to receive a Brazilian and lower leg wax with Maria. She was rude and right away it was a bad experience. When she started the Brazilian wax the wax was not drying and so she could not complete it and she could not get any of it off. I left the salon with wax still in my bikini area. Maria was not sympathetic of the horrible pain I was in. The lower leg wax was also a bad service as there are still hairs. I had gone to European wax center at the Southport location and had a semi-​enjoyable service but after this experience I will never go back to any location again.

It has been two freaking years since my last vacation. I deserve a juicy burger on one of the magnificent sandy beaches in the Caribbean. Yes! This exists! With liberal toplessness and you should absolutely go.
I’ve had days off, holidays are consumed by multiple family obligations, plus lots and lots of work. This is good, I like my work. However, mine is not the kind of work where breaks are scheduled and stepping out for any sort of salon appointment would be, well, frowned on.
So now here I am, ready to go and realizing It’s Sunday, the day before departure and necessary grooming must be done. Ahem. I was thrilled to find a place near my home, open on a Sunday and willing to take care of the situation. They book online so you aren’t on the phone having to repeat «hard wax» and be awkwardly overheard or misunderstood (yeah, this has happened, it does kill any mystery or heck, your dignity and is a little embarrassing).
It’s fast. It’s clean. Mary was very professional and took everything off painlessly and I repeat for emphasis, FAST. It gets personal in that you are undressing in front of your waxer but I was unspeakably grateful Mary turned around for that process. Whew. She was fast, kindly asked what I wanted and did it precisely, without any pain.
Maud (in the charming glasses) up front is a delight. I love how she takes potentially awkward questions with ease. The services are listed online and in brochures, prices are posted and packages offer some unbeatable discounts. So convenient, just off the Western Brown line station, and I already happily booked my next appointment.

I love the ease of their online appointment scheduling. When they first opened, I bought a package of pre-​paid waxes, which has ended up being a steal — something like $ 30 to take care of all my business. I usually see Lilly, who is awesome — very calm, professional, and does a thorough job. The space is super clean. The waxing process is super clean too — no sticks are re-​used. The wax they use makes things relatively painless.
The only different here is that the technician stays in the room when you get undressed, but they’re going to see your lady bits anyways, so what’s the big deal? Also, expect some up-​sell with their products.
Still, proximity to my house and ease of scheduling has made this my to-​go for waxing. Bonus: you can tip on your credit card!

Called in to get my nose and ears waxed, as they offer these services for men. Mind you, I go to Sir Spa and Chicago Male, but my estheticians were on vacation, and I needed my services done.
After setting up the appointment, the lady on the phone informs me that because I use Retin-​A (on my face, as a cream), I would have to get my ears and inner nose waxed a week AFTER not using this product. When I asked why, she wouldn’t give me a reason, other than «company policy.» The cream goes nowhere IN my nose or IN my ears. So I told her to forget it. I’ve never had a problem getting waxed anywhere, and I’ll go elsewhere to get my services. Won’t be recommending them to ANYONE in Lincoln Sq. or Ravenswood Manor, as that’s where I own. Please know your topical creams before you reject a client.

When this EWC opened near my apartment, my roommate and I tried it out because they had a promotion. Neither of us had ever had brazillian waxes before; she was nervous and I was not.
I can’t remember the person I saw, but it felt rushed and like she really didnt want to touch me more than she had to. I could tell that they had corporate scripts to stick to, and of course, I was directed to their wall of products before paying.
My roommate went in before me and came out after me. And she had a great experience, WITH KATE!
I came back a month later, because despite the so-​so experience, it was convenient and I knew what to expect. Had the same person, and was less than impressed again. Had to finish her job when I got home, which is frustrating when you are paying $ 50+.
The third time I went, I tried someone new. I can’t remember her name either, but again, it was rushed with the same corporate script and so-​so waxing job.
I should have just asked my roommate for the name of her waxer after our first visit, but having no other experience, I thought maybe I was being too high maintenance and this was just the experience.
This weekend, I went for my 4^th wax, this time with Kate. Kate was warm, made the corporate script feel personal, and not forced. I explained my past experiences, and she was professional about listening to my concerns and never once said a bad word about her coworkers. She was extremely thorough. Yes, my appointment was longer than the previous 3, but I did not mind at all! It was relatively painless, she was meticulous with finding stray hairs, and was so personable. I am very introverted, I dread haircuts because of the small talk, but Kate had me chatting away. She definitely loves what she does, and takes pride in doing a good job. I will go back to her every time!
The main problem with European Wax Centers is that they focus more on the sale of products and quantity of customers than on the quality of work. The waxers are expected to do their jobs without adequate time to do them well, which I suspect is why my first 3 experiences were so blah.

I get Brazilian waxes regularly at school in New Orleans, and now that I was home for a little while I wanted to find a good place in Chicago. I went to EWC for my first time today, and had a wonderful experience.
The receptionists were very friendly. As a first time customer, they pushed a lot of their packages/​discount offerings on me, but they were very understanding when I declined and did not sign up for anything.
I specifically asked for Kate like the reviews said, and she was great. She knew what she was doing, made sure I was always comfortable, and was very engaging in conversation.
The method/​wax they use is AMAZING. This is the least painful wax I’ve ever had. They use hard wax, which I only ever use. Usually there’s still a good amount of sting to it, but here it was completely bearable. And this is coming from someone who has extremely sensitive skin. For first-​time waxers — I highly recommend.
Although I give it 5 stars, I can understand someone else going to this place, not knowing what to expect, and therefore being disappointed with their experience. Before going, I read others’ reviews and kind of knew what to expect. Mainly, the biggest downside is that is does not have the same feel as other wax salons. For example, they stay in the room with you while you undress, which can be awkward. I knew that this was going to happen, so it wasn’t so bad. They also wear scrub-​like clothing which is different. It was less of a «spa» feel and more of a clinical feel. However, taking into consideration the different vibe of the place and knowing that I wasn’t going to receive the typical «spa-​like» treatment, it was a great experience.
Lastly, their prices are unbelievable. Half off of a Brazilian when it’s full price is already only $ 47!!! Most places I’ve been to are between $ 50-​$ 70.
Overall, I am definitely going back here when I am home again. I cannot speak for their other services or aestheticians, but my experience with Kate was definitely 5 stars!

I’ve had very bad experiences with waxing in the past so I was very terrified to give this place a try. I have to say I was very pleased with the first few visits until today! I usually prefer to see Kate since she is experienced and has great knowledge of her work but on this particular day I saw Lilly. I have to say she is a very nice girl yet inexperienced! It’s hard to trust anyone with your face and I think today I trusted the wrong person, my face feels way too irritated and I’ve had it wax before.
If you get waxed often by now you’ve probably realized that wax is applied in the direction the hair is growing and it’s pulled in the opposite direction the hair grows, this wasn’t obvious to Lilly.
I will definitely be going back but I’ll always be seeing Kate from now on.

Over the past few months it seems as if European Wax Centers have cropped up all over Chicago. They’re like the waxing version of Massage Envy. Prices are much more affordable ($ 47 for brazilian compared to the $ 60 that I normally pay), easy online booking, great promotions for first time visitors.
The first time promotion is what got me in the door — basically a free brow, underarm or bikini wax. I normally get brazilians and assumed that wasn’t part of the deal and that I’d be SOL, but that was still half off so only $ 23 — pretty hard to resist.
Service was very friendly, but a couple oddities. First, I’ve never had the waxing technician stay in the room as you get undressed for a bikini wax. Normally they step out of the room to give you a courtesy minute or so to undress, hop on the table and pretend like the tiny cloth you drape over yourself is totally normal. My technician stayed in the room so it made the already awkward experience a little more so.
The wax they use really was less painful than the normal hard or soft wax used at other places, as I guess that’s proprietary to all European Waxing Centers. They do try to sell you products at the end, but I didn’t find it to be too much pressure.
While the experience wasn’t perfect, it was solid enough that coupled with the pretty significant cost savings means that I’ll be back. They also had 1^st time visitor package deals (pre purchase) that had even larger savings and never expire which I couldn’t turn down.
