their steak and chicken combo is amasing it feeds two people very easy. the decour is cool and different

food is amazing, especially chicken and my friends liked the rabbit too. i always order my fave foe 5.50 $$$ rice, beans, salad, green sauce n charbroiled chicken!!! listen oh em gee amazing!!! wait staff is ok one lady especially is awesome

This restaurant is one of my favorite spots in the city. The food is insanely good and AFFORDABLE. $ 6.50 for steak, rice, beans, and salad is amazing. Especially since almost no other steakhouse restaurants have any deals like that. Also it is not just a lunch special, you can get the steak special any time of the day. My number one favorite dish there is the red snapper fish, I’ve been having that for years and it is delicious.
The waitress I had there was a really sweet young girl who was always on the move, very alert, which is nice because some staff can be really lazy when the boss isn’t around, but not here.
Great customer service. Great food for very low prices.

Very tasty food with good service. Try the fresh fruit drinks that are made to order. NO SUGAR real fruit. The grilled meats, fish, beans and rice, plantains, empenadas are all good choices.

El Llano can definitely be a good place to go in and get something delicious to eat. However after my most recent experience I have to think about going back. My family and I go or used to go here every Sunday after church and even when we have visitors coming we always try to take them to El Llano as it is our favorite restaurant.
On a typical Sunday after church we all decided to go to El Llano and this includes me, my wife, son, parents, sister and grandmother so we definitely needed a bigger table than the standard and we grabbed a couple of tables and put them together. We always decide to separate our checks and we are always very specific about it when ordering. So we ordered, ate and as always tried to have fun.
Upon receiving our checks we noticed 18% tip already included in our totals and on top of that an additional line to leave a tip at the bottom? What kind of regulation is this that we are forced to leave tip? We tried to have this explained and the waitresses at that moment only explained that it was because we were a bigger table and they had to include those charges. Really? Even when we decided to separate our orders and checks?
1. Is there anything more stupid that you could have invented to excuse you are basically STEALING?
2.Why cant I grab a couple of tables and put them together to share my lunch with my family? is there a fee for this?
As I stated, going back to El Llano is something I will think about twice and may be more. My wife definitely does not EVER want to go back, she felt scammed and my Dad told them straight up they were losing customersssssssss. I also want to mention that this is not the first time this has happened! at their location on Montrose the fat greasy waitress decided to tip her self $ 5 on a $ 12 order, my mistake for leaving the tip line blank and trusting them but that was not appropriate and more than 18%. Called the owner several times and NEVER heard anything back!
Well then again THIEVES!!! food is good and some servers are also very nice and serviceful but the administration needs some serious help in business management and keeping hands off whats not yours.

I usually come to this restaurant with my wife’s family. It’s pretty good food for the price. I love the empanadas they serve with the green salsa they provide. They also have a tasty plate of fried chichurron. The fried red snapper with garlic is usually really good. It’s a lot of food so the plate can be shared if liked. The costillas were better before and had a better quality but now it seems like they went to a cheaper cut. The steaks are usually cooked very well but the chimichurri sauce is bland. The fried yuca pieces are nice and crisp. The soups are filling and flavorful as well. But as I said they are a nice size portion so you are able to share a plate.

Feeling pretty conflicted on this review. My partner and I went here for dinner on a Saturday night. Saw rabbit on the menu and knew that I had to order it. Biggest mistake ever! So, maybe you’re thinking that I should not order rabbit from a hole-​in-​a-​wall restaurant and maybe you’re right. The dish comes out, and it is rabbit jerky. It is clear that it was cooked in the distant past, frozen, and then microwaved and served to me. On the one hand my nostalgia for rabbit overtook my common sense, but at the same time, food needs to be edible. I know rabbit is not a common order, but take it off the menu if no one orders it. If you come here stick to the basics.
The waitress didn’t give two sh*ts and made no attempt to rectify the situation. Her English was limited, and I finally was able to explain to her that the meat was dry by saying it had no aqua. My partners food and everyone else’s food look delicious and plentiful. So, if you’re into large portions of good tasting medium quality meat at a cheap price, then this could be a good spot. I want to come back and try the carne asada, but my first experience here keeps me from coming back: thus my discord. So, they get two stars instead of one because of potential.

Seriously wtf happened to this place.
Sitting here in such horrible disgust after chopping and chewing on the driest steak I’ve ever had in my life.
Waitress can’t speak a lick of English to even complain. I’m pi**ed tf off right now. I thought this was one of my favorite places and now I seriously don’t think I’m ever coming back

For months I’ve wanted to stop in and try their food. I’m so glad i did! I walked into a beautifully decorated restaurant. It’s unique and spacious. great for groups, dinner for two or carry out. Unfortunately the staff doesn’t speak english so when ordering you must be patient. I ordered carne asada which came with white rice, beans and a salad. i also order a side of tostones. In total i spent $ 7.50 which is much less than most restaurants. Good portions and amazing flavors.

El Llano is a very hole in the wall type joint… until you walk in. Pretty big restaurant and they have delicious food. I’ve only tried the conejo medio which is the half rotisserie rabbit. Comes with rice, yuca, platanos, potatoes and some veggies. The dish only costs 7.95 bucks and they take credit cards. Ive only gotten takeout but I’m sure dining in would be nice as well. Delicious colombian style food (well it was delicious, never had colombian before so I’m just assuming), service was great and price cannot be beat. Check them out you will not regret.

I’ve been to the old location on Lincoln and enjoyed it, but our recent visit here didn’t really make a great impression. There was no rotisserie chicken on the menu, it was crossed out with electrical tape. The enclosed front room which once had roasting chickens in the window looks like it was converted to storage. I’m not sure if this is a permanent change or not.
So we tried some other things. The lamb that I had was tough and fatty, the corn cakes were hard, bland, and chewy. The fried chicken was good and the garlic chicken was ok. There was a language barrier and a mixup with the dishes, but it eventually was sorted out. Service was a bit slow and we waited 20 minutes for the check after boxing up the leftovers to go.
Unrelated to the establishment, there was a crew of shady guys eyeing everyone on their way out. The last guy stumbled out with a nearly empty bottle of Hennessy in hand. Otherwise the crowd was largely families and locals of all ages.
Overall i’m not sure i’d return here with so many other good options in the neighborhood. D’Candela, Brasa Roja, Pollo Volador, etc.

A few friends of mine recommended this restaurant to me raging about their amazing empanadas. Once we walked in we were greeted by a friendly staff, had nice conversation, I ordered the churrasco and WOW it was delicious and VERY filling and the empanadas sauce was great too! The inside of the restaurant was lovely and the clean bathrooms were a plus! Definitely having a girls night out here! Pictures coming soon!

I was introduced to El Llano via my sis-​in-​law who is Colombian-​so you know you get the real deal here. We have only gotten take out but the chicken is always moist and flavorful with huge portions. We’ve had the garlic chicken and the chicken Creole. The garlic chicken can feed four people –or at least get four meals out of it. Their empanadas are also amazing. Colombian food is not spicy so I’m not sure if those commenting about the food being bland were expecting something else. The chicken is a healthier alternative to other take out places any night of the week. One of our new go-​to spots for a quick healthy dinner option.

My bien, generous portions, chicken and steaks grilled and served on hot sizzle platter, fresh yuccas and plantanos. Flavors are fresh and authentic, start with a chilled gazpacho-​like shrimp seviche, and a char broiled rib eye, for a south american surf and turf. Fun place, great service, soup to nuts delicious.

This is really a place to go on a budget, me and my com-​padre were able to eat more than any where else in Chicago during lunch for under $ 18.00 This lunch special we had one chicken one beef was served with rice beans, cabbage and we ordered the plantain, empanada, avocado, and soup additionally. Every thing came out reasonably fast however for what you are paying do not expect super fancy top notch food! This is true decent tasting, and quality fast food. I do not understand some of the reviews to this place, however I will give it one less star than perfect for that you probably will need to speak some little bits of Spanish sometimes here. Some of the servers do speak English some do not. Overall a solid fast food place that is consistently pretty decent.

Omg delicious Colombian cuisine. Had the rice beans, grilled steak, grilled chicken special + platanos w/​ajo (garlic) & empanadas in corn bread fritter yum yum. Total meal for 2 with drinks & dessert $ 20… Wow Great anytime

This is cheap, cheap, hearty, good food. We had two beef empanadas (great), a whole chicken (good, not great, but really good), a whole plantain (yup), the corn cake (lame), potatoes (potatoes), and then the fried corncake with cheese on the side (amazing stoner food). The bill was $ 17. It was enough food for four, and very satisfying. The interior is cute-​ish, with loud Columbian music, a strange little man waiter who was fighting with his wife or mother, several tables of amigos inhaling chicken or steak — in other words, pretty decent atmosphere.

My once favorite location on Lincoln that closed, but now on Elston. Our waiter took forever to bring us our menus and to our surprise were in Spanish. I don’t read well in Spanish. Another 5 min wait to get the waiters attention to get English menus with a loud sigh he let out. We ordered the empanadas and an area which were pretty tasty. Their yellow empanada was filled with beef and was pretty small yet very crunchy and tasty. We ordered grilled chicken and ribeye which were really huge servings on cutting boards. I wish I would’ve ordered the matrimonio and split it as I asked my bf to. The chicken was extremely moist but only could eat ¼ of it. I ended up taking the rest to go and it left a bad smell in our car… Cheap for huge portions of good tasting food.

What a disappointment. My experience did not start out well because the guy sitting at the table across from me was shoveling food into his face as if it was meal time at the orphanage. I ordered the rotisserie chicken, their signature dish. Don’t know where the chicken had been before it hit the plate but it certainly wasn’t a rotisserie because when I got it it was barely warm. The dish was served with a fried plantain boiled potato and corn cake. I don’t know much about corn cakes but I’m guessing they should not have the consistency of hockey pucks.
So to the owners if you’re reading this, all I can say is that there’s a reason that your very large restaurant had only two tables occupied at primetime on a Saturday night. Folks recognize when they are being served warmed over crap and they don’t come back.
