Dynamic Dogs Training & Behavior

I’m not sure how to actually select zero stars on here but I would it if were possible. I am specifically going to review the three week board and train experience I just had at Dynamic Dogs. I just picked up my dog and am totally devastated by the experience. First and foremost, I think it highly negligent of a facility to take in your dog and to not provide you with any updates during a three week stay. What is worse, is that after there was an incident with my dog biting one of the trainers during the second week, that they only attempted to call me one time and leave a generic voice mail for me to return their phone call instead of stating there was a more serious issue to address. The only reason that I found out about the event is because I called the facility this morning and a person working there (not even a trainer) at noon, told me the following «oh they must have been calling you because your dog bit someone and punctured their skin 8 times to the bone. But I can’t talk to you about it further and you should wait for the trainers to come in».
Are you freaking kidding me?! So of course, I drive down there myself, because I feel awful for the poor person who got bit but am more irrate that this has not been brought to my immediate attention. Mind you I am also being told that my dog hasn’t been trained in the past 3 days due to this incident. I was only about to pay $ 2300 for this nonsense.
So I get there, wait about 20 mins for the owner to arrive. She’s actually semi-​pleasant but incapable of providing adequate feedback other than your dog progressed slower than one should. Then enters the girl who is bitten, whose feedback is basically a suggestion that i EUTHANIZE my dog!!! I say that wasn’t an option and that that is an insensitive remark to make, because my dog is not vicious but has had resource guarding issues that they were made fully aware of. She then tells me I’m a selfish owner and am endagering other people. She storms off and the owner, rather than apologize on her employees behalf states that she is having a hard week and has to see a hand specialist! You are specialized in dealing with behavioral issues with dogs, and you want me to feel like the bad guy?
After all this is said and done. They only charged me $ 840 for boarding three weeks (because yes I would’ve opted my dog stay in a crate for three weeks instead of his home). She also gave me advice on where to take my dog… I suppose when they advertise that they deal with behavioral issues, they really don’t know what they are talking about. I also had to inquire about what he learned while he was there. I think it’s mostly because they didn’t get my money for training but the owner who I don’t believe is a trainer chooses not to demonstrate ONE thing that he learns. Just verbalizes randomly some of the things…
I am incredibly disappointed to say the least and just advised all of my close friends who were considering going to Dynamic Dogs not to do so. This was truly a disgusting experience. My dog is traumatized and so am I. Simply disgusting…

We board our 12 year old anxiety ridden Wrecks. He is awful with people but does better each time we take him back. They are such a nice staff. It’s reassuring to know they have a huge yard for the to run wild.

This post is long overdue!
We were regulars (2x per week) at another place in town and had an incident with some «digestive indiscretions» and needed to find a place that didn’t put rocks down in the play area. Enter Dynamic Dogs. When we first spoke with Jennifer, she mentioned all of the research they did about the various options to put down in the play area and why they selected what they did (pretty sure it’s some type of woodchip). Their concern for this helped ease my anxiety about leaving our dogs (husky mix, and australian mix) there.
After a couple of weeks of dropping our boys off there, we were having some behavioral issues with our smaller dog (aussie mix), and signed him up for the 11 day class as we were leaving town and thought this would be a great time to leave him there and get trained.
A word on training. My wife and I are major animal (read: dog) people, and were more than a bit concerned when we talked with jennifer about the type of training they do there; specifically the use of prong collars. For 6 years I admit that we’ve judged others (i know, not cool) who use these. Today, we swear by them. Jennifer helped us understand that when used correctly, they’re an effective way to assist in training. She walked us through how they use them and and even had a small one to put on my wrist to show they don’t hurt them. In short, if you have concerns about using them, speak with Jennifer and she’ll help you understand.
When we picked up Bentley, she did a demonstration and even with as excited as he was to see us, he did some truly impressive stuff (loose leash walking!!!). I’m not going to say this solved every problem we had as anyone who tells you they can do this in 11 days is lying, but the most important thing is that it set the framework for our training (our dog was 2 years old when we did this, fyi). Note: you need to keep up with this or it will go away, just as with any training.
Now when we leave town, we ALWAYS leave our dogs with Jennifer and crew. They’re reasonably priced, and most importantly, we just don’t worry when we drop our dogs off there. Our bigger dog has really bad storm anxiety and if she knows it’s going to be bad, Jennifer will keep him with her upstairs.
This has become a fairly lengthy review, so my apologies (and it probably looks like i work there (which i do not but i really like this place) but i wanted to mention that when you leave town you can ask them to groom them before you pick them up. I don’t do this every time due to cost, but when i do, they do a great job!

Dynamic Dog is the best thing that ever happened to Scout!
My girlfriend and I got Scout as a rescue dog, and from what we learned, it seemed as though she was a stray and had something of a rough start. We had next to no problems with her for the first three or four months, but when she turned one year old, she began to become aggressive when on leash. It started with barking and lunging at other dogs while we were out on walks and developed into aggression toward us when we would try to stop her. We eventually had to stop taking her to the dog park because she would growl and snarl at other dogs. We wanted nothing more than to keep her, but she had so many behavioral issues and a stubborn streak a mile long. We had tried taking her to a number of other dog classes, and while we saw small improvements, they were not helping us tackle her major issues.
We found Dynamic Dog in an internet search. Our only initial hesitation was the idea of using a prong collar because it was something that we did not know a lot about. However, Jennifer explained how they worked and demonstrated the proper way to use it. It took some getting used to on our parts, but Scout doesn’t even seem to notice that she’s wearing it. In fact, if the collar is ever off, Scout will actually grab it off the table when she wants to go outside.
We were impressed by the initial consultation. No one seemed afraid or put off by Scout’s behavior. We dropped her off for her two week stay. After the first week, she was sitting, downing, and staying on command — even with distractions. She was playing with other dogs, and was getting used to being around them on leash.
We picked her up the following week. Before we left, we spent an hour learning about all of the training so we could keep it up at home. She’s like a different dog. We still have to work hard with her every day, but the improvement is unbelievable. She can see dogs on the street, or walk into a room full of dogs and not have an outburst. She listens on command. We don’t have to walk around with pockets full of treats anymore.
We cannot say enough good things about dynamic dog. In just two weeks, they gave us hope that Scout could become a well-​trained, well-​behaved dog. The training and their hard work didn’t end after those two weeks. We still regularly take Scout their open classes on Saturday — the value of these classes cannot be understated. They’re free, they let us keep up with her training, and they tire her out! For us, Dynamic Dog is more than just a two-​week board-​and-​train. We have met other owners with dogs that have similar problems to Scout. There is something comforting about knowing that there are others going through similar issues with their dogs. These are owners and trainers who are truly committed to the dogs. If all Dynamic Dog offered was two weeks of training, it would have been the best money we could have possibly spent. But having the opportunity to continue to learn and train each Saturday — with other owners like us — is priceless.

Top spot for boarding, grooming as well as training. Clean and bright place. I like that you know who is taking care of your dog, training your dog, and you deal with the same people every time. I prefer smaller places and supporting local businesses. Other dog places I’ve been to don’t have that same personal attention and have an ever-​changing staff. Jennifer, the owner, is a super knowledgeable person, naturally talented with dogs. You can tell she like really loves them and she is pretty much my adviser on anything dog related. She treats them all as her own.
Other plus: The yard is great and my dog loves running and he also loves being chased, lol. The location is convenient, right off the highway and there’s parking. Denny can’t wait to come back for grooming and playtime with all the dogs.

I love how easy it is to communicate with Jennifer via e-​mail for questions and scheduling future visits to Dynamic Dogs. A lot of businesses have websites and email addresses — these guys actually keep their website up to date and respond to email. How refreshing!

I took my 3yr old Husky mix, Bomber for the 2 week board and train with Jen and Ben. He is a rescue I’ve had for almost 2 years and he has been unpredictably nervous and aggressive. No matter what training I did with him it was never fully effective. I was always afraid to let others handle or even pet him because I never knew how he would react to new people, but just 5 minutes into the free evaluation, I felt completely at ease when Jen took his lead.
After the two weeks training with the Dynamic Dogs team he was like a new well behaved, socially comfortable version of his former self. EVERYONE has noticed the difference in him. My family was joking that they switched dogs on me. He is focused, he listens, he doesn’t lunge at others and seems so much more relaxed overall. Even people at the veterinary hospital I work at who were once afraid of him now love to hug and pet him and take him for walks in our down time. It’s only been two months but Bomber’s life is completely changed… he doesn’t have to be excluded from fun social outings with friends and family and we don’t have to be nervous if other dogs or new people are going to be around. I do training exercises with him in the park every day and he loves it!

Dynamic Dogs is Awesome! Ok Otis has been acting like a spoiled brat as of lately and that is every fault of my own because that is exactly how I treat him. What can I say I love my dog like he’s my child.
Otis and I needed a little updating in our training and of course I wanted to see the new store that Ben and Jennifer have opened. So I called them up they fit me right in and off we went.
1^st off the new place is awesome! In the middle of the city they have a HUGE out door play area. Otis and I have been to other dog kennels and day cares and they can’t hold a candle to the outdoor space they have.
2^nd even though I was so nervous about how Otis is going to behave since I’ve let him fall back into old bad habits, when Ben touched his leash Otis was back to his well trained self almost immediately and I was completely at ease.
I am so glad they have open their new shop and cannot wait to recommend more people their way. With the new place and their experience I am so assured my baby will always be treated as one of their own.
