I had an amazing experience here! I have not been to the dentist in over 5 years so I was pretty terrified going in not only because I don’t handle pain well but because I was afraid of what they were going to tell me I needed done. I walked into an extreme cozy waiting room where there was minimal paperwork to fill out and I was greeted by the hygienist very quickly. She was so nice and talked me all the way through the X-​rays and cleaning which was very comforting considering I was so nervous. I was even more happy when the dentist came in and didn’t try to sell me anything I didn’t need and also answered all of my questions honestly and professionally. I’m also lucky that I have very good insurance so I was pleasantly surprised by my extremely low bill and they were able to accommodate my schedule for further check ups and cleanings. I will most definitely recommend this place to anyone! The convenient location was a plus too.

I’ve been coming here for a year now and the service has been superb. The staff is fantastic, accommodating and able to work around my schedule. The location is great (although I just moved away from the neighborhood, its still nice to be able to run some errands beforehand or after).
I lost my employer insurance a year ago when switching to a new firm, and Lauren assisted me in finding a new plan that would allow me to continue service with Halsted Street Dental.
Regarding my treatment at HSD:
I hadn’t seen a dentist in a couple of years, and had some bad gum issues. With a set one year plan my teeth (mostly gums) are better then ever, and I now look forward to going to the dentist, even if it is only every 6 months.
Can’t recommend them enough!

I have to agree with all the others… this place is heaven on earth when it comes to dentist offices. The staff are all extremely outgoing and super sweet, putting you at ease from the second you walk in. The young lady at the desk helped explain my dental coverage to me (not her job– I’m an adult and should be able to figure things out on my own– but it was SO appreciated!) so I knew exactly what was covered and how much would be my responsibility.
My wait time was nonexistent as this office moves like a well-​oiled machine. If I have an appointment at 4:00, I’m in the chair by 4:01. The dental hygenist (Amanda?) is a hoot to talk to while you lay gurgling and laughing at her jokes. Dr. Jercinovic is SO laid back and easy to talk to. Explains everything to you clearly and makes sure you have no questions before you leave. Also, had a tooth drilled and a filling put in last night and let me just say that it was ACTUALLY an enjoyable experience. Took maybe 10 minutes. Best. Dentist. Ever.

I honestly cannot say enough great things about HSD! I love this place! They go above and beyond to make sure that your experience is a positive one! The customer service they provide does not compare to any other doctor’s office I have come in contact with! I am originally from FL and right before I moved I had one of the worst experiences at a dentists office that I was nervous to try a new one. After being in Chicago for a month I knew I needed to suck it up and get into a new dentist and I am so happy that they are covered by my insurance company because they are amazing! I have recommended them to everyone I know who is in need of a dentist and I know I will continue to do so!

I just called them up after having not been to HSD in well over a year and they still had all of my information on file, got me in a relatively quick period of time and the receptionist could not have been nicer. I’m not one to get excited about going to the dentist but because everyone is so nice here and my teeth are great shape I actually don’t mind these visits.

I’m a little shocked by some of the reviews on here. I just recently started going here. The staff members are so friendly (even remembering little details about conversations we had had on a previous visit) and the dental hygienist was extremely thorough. Dr. Jercinovic pointed out to me that a sealant had worn away and that there was decay underneath. He removed the sealant and filled the tooth, and if I had waited any longer it would have been a root canal. He definitely was not trying to «sell» me procedures I didn’t need. As long as I live in the city Dr. Jercinovic will be my dentist!

Until today, I didn’t have a dentist in Chicago after living here (sans insurance for most of the time) since 2002. Last night, I broke a tooth and was in some pain. I started calling around to various dentists looking for a last minute appointment to fix the situation.
I work in Lincoln Park and needed something close by. Halsted Street Dental was able to get me in right away. The office manager, Lauren (forgive the spelling if it is incorrect) was super helpful and Dr. Jercinovic was gentle and kind. He was neither put-​off nor patronizing that it had been so long since I had been to a dentist.
He removed the broken tooth, put in a temporary filling/​crown and got me out (from paperwork to rinse) in about an hour. I will have to go back to have the permanent crown put on and I’m sure that experience will be just as pleasant.
Not only was the service great, but both the doctor as well as the office manager were upfront and honest about costs of this procedure as well as the future work. They didn’t do anything until I had approved the price. He was also able to save the tooth and I didn’t even need a root canal! The total cost was only $ 52 out of pocket.
I would highly recommend using Halsted Street Dental!

I’ve been seeing Dr. J for several years but never wrote a review. I used to see him when he worked in Presidential Towers (since it was near my office). At any rate when he moved to LP I followed and am happy as a result.
I really like the attention I get at HSD. The hygienists are great, desk reception friendly, and Dr. J is a thoughtful no nonsense Dr. I don’t get referred or recommended for unnecessary services and there’s no hard sell etc.
Bottom line is this is a great neighborhood dentist office. Feels like family to some degree since everyone is so warm and inviting.
If you’re looking for a dentist in the Lincoln Park area these guys are great and the location is superb too!

I have been using Halsted Street Dental for awhile and have always found the front office and dentistry staff to be great. Never had to wait more than 15 minutes (usually much less) to get in the chair, appointments are efficient, flexible appointment scheduling and no billing problems.
I really like the intimacy of the office –seems like they are able to manage the flow of appointments better rather than sitting in some huge waiting room with 10 other people not knowing what is going on. Great selection of periodicals to pass time if you have to wait — nothing worse than reading a torn up, boring and outdated magazine at most medical provider offices.
Very competitive pricing on Invisalign and they took the time to explain the process including what the final results should look like. Only drawback is that parking can be tough based on their location (in the middle of Lincoln Park).

My wife has been a patient of Dr. J’s for over 5 years and I have been a patient for over 3 years. Both my wife and I are extremely satisfied with our experience with Dr. J. He is not afraid to stick around and answer questions, provide reasoning for his recommendations and/​or discuss potential alternate treatments. I have found his staff to be quite professional and thorough.
While there are other dentists closer to our home in Oak Park, it is the quality of service that we recieve by Dr. J and his staff that make traveling up to Lincoln Park worth it.

Halsted Street Dental is great. I really trust Dr. Jercinovic, and I haven’t felt that he is pushy about any kind of treatment. For some of these negative reviews who got second opinions, I don’t know why you’d trust an opinion *not* to get work done on your teeth more than an opinion to get work done. You could just as easily set yourself up for rotten teeth. I’ve been going to Dr. Jercinovic for over 3 years now (after having switched from my first dentist), and I’ve gotten nothing but good advice.

I’m also a bit confused by prior reviews. I was referred to Dr. Jercinovic when he still worked at the dental offices in Presidential Towers.
I’ve seen other dentists who suggested $ 500+ of dental work (Bahu Ramy in Water Tower on N Michigan Ave comes to mind, he definitely needs to make rent money huh), and other dentists who seemed sus in the other direction (everything looks good).
Dr. Jercinovic has moved to a nicer office and hired very friendly and thorough dental assistants but the rates are still good. He suggests certain upgrades in life (electric toothbrush) but not others (waterpik flossing system). I was considering whitening but I think it’s a bit steep so I’ll stick with the basic dental care for now.

I have been going to Halsted Street Dental for a while, and while they also told me I needed to replace 5 old fillings I am glad I did. We only scheduled three at first, and after removing them they found two small starts of cavities where food had been trapped in the very small crevices from the shrinking filling. They worked with me to schedule them in line with what my insurance would cover and replaced them with the new white ceramic fillings that don’t give that ugly metal look. I have always had FANTASTIC service here.

Having recently moved to Chicago, I decided to see Dr. Jercinovic at Halsted Street simply because his office was close to my apartment. The hygienist was fine, but she did notice some potential spots that she pointed out to Dr. Jercinovic when he came in to examine my teeth. Having had fillings for over 10+ years and never having had an issue with them with my previous dentist, I was shocked when Dr. Jercinovic told me that not only did I need a filling to cover up a cavity that was in its «early stages,» but also get a crown to replace my silver filling which supposedly was decaying my teeth. I was a little suspicious and told him that I before I spend a grand on a crown, I wanted to get a second opinion. Any honest dentist would not have taken it personally, but Dr. Jercinovic actually seemed to get defensive and acted somewhat aggressively in pushing the treatment. It is very relieving to me that other people felt similarly.
(Edited) Oh and for the record, I switched to Old Town Dental, and instead of suggesting a crown (he actually showed shock when I mentioned that another dentist had insisted upon it), he simply replaced my fillings during a short 1.5 hour procedure that ended up costing me like $ 75 out of pocket. My teeth have never felt better! Halsted Street Dental is a sham!

My experience during my visit was great. No wait, and the woman who cleaned my teeth was very good. She said she noticed some grey area underneath one of my old fillings so guessed that it might need to be replaced.
Then the dentist, Dr. Jercinovic came in to take a look. After examining my teeth he said I would need to replace all 3 silver fillings I have in the back and remove the sealants my old dentist had painstakingly applied. Basically the outcome was to have 3 fillings replaced and another 3 done where the sealants are. Not fun.
I thought this was an excessive amount of work after just one (my first) appointment. I decided to get a second opinion.
The went to see Dr. Jerald Schwab and did not tell him what work Dr. Jercinovic planned on doing. He took a look at my mouth and said that he would «recommend nothing at this point.» He said one silver filling was eroding, but absolutely did not need to be replaced at this time. He said I could wait another year and a half to 2 yrs. and that every time a filling is replaced it weakens the tooth and so you should wait until it is really necessary.
He also said my sealants looked fine and it would be silly to remove them bc you suspect there might be erosion below (similar to taking out one’s appendix on a hunch that something might be wrong with it).
Anyways, long story short, I canceled my appointment to have the filings done and have transfered my records to the new dentist.
