I’m not a weirdo… honestly!
I know you should not enjoy going to the dentist, but Dr Hohman and his staff make each visit a walk in the park. And we’ll, actually they are now located across from Millenium Park, so if you need a walk in the park, there you have it
Dr Hohman is a Michigan Avenue dentist, with 30 years experience along with the latest equipment. Yet, he has the humility and bedside manner of a country Doctor. His experience allows him to be the best on pain management, knowing when to give you the gas and when to just deal with it.
His professional staff, especially Sara, provide wonderful routine care and when they need to wave in Dr Hohman to fix something, all goes as planned.
Faye in the front office keeps everyone on time and fully paid. She is tough, but you can warm up to her after a few visits, providing that you are on time and fully paid up.
It may be hard to get in. I’m not sure he is taking new patients, unless referred.
As a 15 year patient, I appreciate the doctor and his staff for keeping me orally healthy.

Dr Hohman and his staff are a breath of fresh air in the dental industry. I always feel welcome when I show up for an appointment. Fay provides a pragmatic helm in reception, and can perform scheduling miracles if you need them. The hygienists are all capable and friendly.
As others have mentioned, Dr Hohman gives you a prognosis in plain English, and doesn’t try to force you into the most expensive option. Plus he’s friendly (even funny, once you get to know him), precise in his work and ensures that you get in and out of there as quickly as reputable dental practice allows.
When i lost yet another crown recently, Dr Hohman was able to save my existing crown and somehow wedge it back in — even better working condition than it had been. He saved me about $ 900 by being able to re-​use that crown. My insurance doesn’t cover squat, so this was doubly appreciated!
Also recently, my husband lost a slice of his crown. Dr Hohman was able to whittle it into working order without replacing the crown. That would have been another huge expense for us, given the paltry insurance coverage. Yay Dr Hohman!
I recommend Dr Hohman highly. Just tell Fay you do NOT want to infringe on my next appointment time. ;-)

LOVE LOVE LOVE Dr. Hohman. I’ve been going to him since I was a child and I’m 31 now. My Mom and God Father go to him as well. He is very friendly and he knows what he’s doing. The staff is very friendly. I like him so much, I’ve gone to him when I didn’t have insurance.

Great dentist and nice office staff. Straight forward and tells it like it is.

Dr. Hohman is the best dentist on the planet. He is kind, gentle, and doesn’t yell at you for not flossing. He would never try to sell you on unnecessary dental procedures.
His entire staff (hygenist, receptionist) is welcoming and makes the whole experience as low-​stress as possible. Convenient location and reasonable prices. I almost don’t want to Unilocal about it because I think he’s the best kept secret in Chicago!

He’s a great dentist! Loved him and introduced him to my husband who had not gone to the dentist for 7 years (childhood phobia). He loved Dr. Hohman too and now he seems to go all the time!

Are you located in the Loop? Teeth falling out? Breath kickin’? Teeth stained from too much coffee, tea, or other beverage? Really can’t stand trying to find time on the weekend, early in the morning, or at night to get to the dentist?
Well if you answered yes to any of those or have friends who fit nos. 2, 3, or 4, then I highly recommend Dr. Donald Hohman.
This isn’t one of those ostentatious shops where the style way overdoes the substance. This is a dentist who interacts well with people, keeps things simple, and doesn’t gouge you on the bill.
I’ve been seeing him for a little over two years now and have been there for cleaning, whitening, and some general cap work. He lays things out straight for you.
For example, I cracked off a portion of one of my teeth trying to prove I was Tony Hawk at age 7, the cap had stained in a pretty bad way and he explained the benefits and detriments of recapping it versus a veneer. He basically explained that the veneer would be a brighter white, but honestly it cost an arm and a leg and wasn’t worth the cost. Most businessmen aren’t going to turn down extra money. He may have lost close to a thousand in profit, but he gained a customer for life.
Overall, this guy and his office treat you like you are in the suburbs when it comes to being very family friendly and service oriented. Not a ton of extra bells and whistles, but the convenience alone makes him a good choice for a dentist.
