Founded in 1984 as a partnership, DMA Architects NorthStar Studio Inc.(«DMA») is a full service architectural, planning and interior design firm that practices in residential, commercial, institutional, sustainable, historic renovation, and design build services.

Douglas M.

Business Owner

Douglas Madel’s experience includes over 30 years of active participation in the architectural profession, spanning a variety of responsible positions and projects. He has been an associate architect in such firms as Skidmore, Owings and Merrill and Harry Weese and Associates. Experience has included design, management and administration of new buildings, renovations, feasibility studies, zoning analysis, site planning, program development, life safety and ADA work. He has provided design consultation to American firms working in Russia.

Mr. Madel has served on the Society of American Registered Architects national review board for design awards, the Chicago Chapter Real Estate Subcommittee and the Village of Oak Park Design Review Commission. He has lectured on the requirements for architectural compliance with the American’s With Disabilities Act. He has traveled extensively and is the recipient of several design awards.
