Division Dental Clinic

Let me just start by saying that I knew going in that my Medicaid would not cover anything fancy. That being said, I found the front desk ladies to be extremely helpful and courteous. Much of the issue here is not them, it’s the fact that they are dealing with ever changing insurance policies. I had my wisdom teeth out in August and the doctor and the assistant were great. I had zero issues post op, and the whole process was pretty easy. The only thing that I would have liked was more information on the whole surgical process beforehand (I had to call and ask how long I was supposed to fast because no one had told me ahead of time).

I had oral surgery performed here, and while the dentists and nurses took excellent care of me and were both friendly and helpful, the front staff leaves a great amount to be desired. Not only is this place constantly overbooked, leading to long waiting times, but there are a couple of women who work in reception who have the most horrible attitudes I have ever encountered. This past Friday, I had a 12:30 appointment and did not get seen until 3:00! When I asked about how much longer I had to wait to be seen, one particularly rude staff member told me I had one person ahead of me; I saw at least 4 people go in before I did. After my work is complete here, I will never be returning, which is unfortunate. The dentist is great, the nurses are great, but the long wait times and rudeness I have encountered make this not worth the headache.

Hello I went there 8−7−15 to get two wisdom teeth taken out and my appointment was @9:00 and they saw me at 9:30 or 9:44 and today 8−10−15 I went back around 1:00 pm because I had a lot of pain and then when. The doctor saw me he said oh every thing is ok with u. I Said no please do any x-​Ray because last month my twin sister was there and you guys give her medical and then another week she came back and you guys left the root in her mouth. That’s why I want an x-​Ray done to make sure everything is ok. So they did. And he give me medical I didn’t like the way he spoke me too. I only went due too my insurance covered it but I’ll send other people to another place. I wouldn’t go back at all

Dr. Horowitz if you are reading this YOU ARE THE BEST! I agree with the people below the clinic isnt the most upscale or modern looking office but if that is what worries you buy a top notch insurance and see a fancy office who’s Dentist will probably try to milk you and fill a couple teeth that are perfectly fine. Having wisdom tooth pain I could honestly care less what it looked like. If you have had wisdom tooth pain you will agree all you want is that tooth OUT.
I went in for my first appt and got Xrays and insurance stuff. They have a neat Xray Machine that goes around your face so say goodbye to open and bite Xrays comes in handy when u can barely open your mouth. The ladies were are all nice to me and explained from insurance to procedure (props to Receptionist Jasmin for all the patience). Their is a long wait for oral surgery but I called and explained I had excrutiating pain and got me in the next day! Got called in for Surgery at 11 everything started at 1130 came out and it was 12 (opt for IV sedation it does wonders). Dr. Horowitz has the most gentle hand and extensive experience because I hardly had minimum bleeding and I had NO need for narcotic pain killers, Motrin was all I needed and I had 4 wisdom teeth extracted! When anyone asks If i know a good oral surgeon I will reccomend Dr. Horowitz and Division dental.

I had an infected broken tooth and went to Division Dental Clinic because they accept my insurance. The wait was long even with an appointment. The place is not the most updated. They cater to low income and state aid patients so what more can I say. The doctor did a great job removing the tooth and I didn’t feel a thing. I would go back again. If you’re looking for an upscale dental salon, this is not it.

I was here only because this place accept my insurance. When I called to do appointment the receptionist girl told me they take first 10 walking customer without appointment. So I went in the morning at 7AM with my little one week old baby (just because my teeth hurt all night) even they open at 9AM. Guess when they called me!!! At 3.30 pm!!! It takes about 15 min to remove my teeth, but I had waiting for 8,5 hours!!! Never come back again and don’t recommend. And the place also looked unsanitary and dirty!

This place is absolutely horrible. Do NOT take your child to this facility for any dental work. They schedule you for a specific appointment time for you to get there and it’s a «whoever is here the earliest, gets scene 1^st» establishment. Had an appointment for 9am didn’t see the dentist to 1pm. Quick service for children but the staff doesn’t allow for time for kids to recuperate from services. They administer laughing gas to kids to know them out; perform the service then let them leave. No time for them to recuperate, they do not have masks for the patients to wear to prevent air from hitting their gums and sore mouth; very unfair and cruel service. And not to mention the wait room is warm, no air, no ventilation. So imagine a small wait room with many kids that are irritable and in pain. Very unfortunate for children and family. Thankfully my relative got thru the procedure but I would never recommend this place to anyone. It’s almost as if they treat you unfair due to limited medical insurance. It’s very disheartening.

HORRIBLE, paid $ 50.00 out of my own pocket for nitrous oxide which DID NOT WORK. The «Dr.» Kept torqueing on my tooth even I was screaming in agony. No one asked what was wrong. I am glad iit’s finally over.

OK, so I’m not going to say that this was truly a flawless experience, nor that this is «as good as it gets.» But I think the negative reviews here are a little unfair.
I had tooth pain like I’d never had in my life on a Sunday night. I put cloves on it, got up early, and went to Division Dental. I was the third person to sign in. Now — it took four hours of waiting, and being told repeatedly that it’d be 45 more minutes, 45 more minutes, 45 more minutes before I finally broke down crying and pleaded them to get me into the back. They finally ushered me in and I was promptly taken care of.
So this is what you need to know: They’re only open Monday through Friday, and if you want to be seen quickly, MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. That’s why I kept getting pushed back — I was a walk-​in.
That being said, contrary to other reviews, the waiting room is fine, if a little noisy. On one side of it you can watch a TV. It’s not fancy, and it gets very crowded, but it is clean.
The dentists are professional — they had a nervous, crying woman on their hands and they were patient and kind, they explained everything thoroughly, gave me several options, and answered all of my numerous questions. They referred me to endodontists in the area who were on the less expensive side and gave me prescriptions to help with the pain and kill off the infection in my tooth. (Fun fact: little did I know that I have severe reactions to Vicodin! I hallucinated that I was being patted on the back by a dragon. That’s got nothing to do with Division Dental, but I think it’s a fun story.)
If you want my advice: you’re going to spend at least $ 100 going to Division Dental if you want an extraction. I wound up weighing the costs of a root canal and crown plus fillings and extractions that I know I need done versus the cost of buying dental insurance and getting those services with dental insurance. Get the dental insurance. If you’re having an emergency and you need services NOW, Division Dental is a fine place to go, but I can’t stress this enough: MAKE AN APPOINTMENT — and expect to wait anyway, but you’ll at least be guaranteed to be seen.

Just because the people below you have standards and expectations to go to a clean professional practice don’t mean they have issues. I just left an hour ago with one of the worst Dental/​doctor experience to last me a lifetime. My really good dentist referred me here since I needed oral surgery and when I called the first time I ended up hanging up on the rudest receptionist I ever spoken to just because I didn’t want to hurt her feelings because of the way she was talking to me. So I called back to see if I would get someone else (so much for that plan) but we did get to finish booking my appointment. So I took the day off and my husband took the morning off because by reading the reviews I anticipated there would be issues. He came in uniform spoke to the receptionist we filled out my paperwork and asked how long it would be the rudest one said we take appointments first which she should have said we are running behind you will be waiting 45 min well with him having to return to work he returned to the counter and said what’s going on she had a 12pm appointment, so she says there are still two people ahead of her. I’m already frustrated. Oh and another issue was they have sings posted all over the office no eating 6 hours prior to your appointment –do you think the receptionist told me that on the phone? So finally I get called back and the review about this place being absolutely disgustingly dirty is soooo true the lady doing my ex rays pulls me in a filthy room I almost didn’t want to put the thing in my mouth for the pictures. Then she says meet me in another room so I’m waiting for about 5 min then the dental surgeon walked in he flips through my paperwork then he tells me a $ 250 balance would be owed after my procedure cause yup I walk around with that in my purse and seriously nobody could have discussed that with me before I took a day off booked this appointment or the 45 min that I was waiting? I said well I guess I won’t be getting anything done today because nobody told me that and walked out. I wouldn’t recommend d this place to a dog if it needed dental work and my dentist said he will not recommend ANY more of his patients. I WOULD GIVE THIS DUMP negative a million stars if I could.

Okay the people below me have issues. This place isn’t the best in the whole world. You could def get a lot better, but they are cheap and offer services on a walk in basis. When your tooth is in pain, you can’t get much better than that. They opened at 8:45 this morning and by 10 I was filling my script for pain meds after getting my tooth pulled. The staff was friendly and professional. The dentist was clean and efficient, and explained everything every step of the way. I have clearly been putting off dental services (hence the pulled tooth) because I have extreme dental anxiety and I did just fine. If you need a quick and cheap fix for your tooth I would recommend this place to anyone. I would suggest a different place for routine dental work, but when your in a tight spot and time isn’t something you can afford to waste this place works.

It’s ok the receptionists in the front don’t know anything, for example I ask them if they would charge me the X-​ray with the medical card one said yes and the other one said maybe when I went in the back the lady told me they were crazy. The dentist was good and fast! There is A LONG wait I had my appointment at 12:30 they didn’t see me until 2!

Over the Christmas holiday one of my father’s molars became infected, and the only place that was open was Division Dental. He also didn’t have any dental insurance at the time, which is why we had to go here. First of all they told us they didn’t have any openings, but when my mother called they said they could see him in an hour. When we arrived, I was completely disgusted by the appearance of this place. It smelled horrible, and there was about 2 or 3 other patients in the room. I waited at the desk for about 15 minutes and no one acknowledged me until I finally said HELLO we have an appointment? The people behind the desk were so disrespectful and unprofessional, they were talking loudly, swearing, and listening to offensive music.
If my father was not is such excruciating pain I would have left immediately, but we had no other choice. After over 3 hours waiting, they finally took him into one of the most sketchy rooms I have ever seen. When the extraction was over they told us we could take him to the car. They left him in this dirty, dark, unsanitary closet type hallway, where he was still knocked out from the procedure, drooling blood on himself. They did not give him any gauze or anything. That is when I lost it, I was so infuriated at the disrespect that these so called «professionals» were using. My father ‘s experience happens numerous times each day. this place needs to be shut down and the dentists need to have their license taken away. Never will I ever go back.

It’s widely known that people have more motivation to leave negative reviews then people do for good service. And common sense tells you no matter where you go, there are going to be mess ups & upset people. It happens at the best of hospitals and offices. Despite my knowledge of that, I admit I was a nervous wreck going here. I had to travel from the far northwest suburbs, away from my nice dentist offices I am used to because the government cut funding and I needed to get my tooth extracted and no one closer would do it for me. So already upset about that, the reviews on every website didn’t help.
When I first called them, they got me in two days later.
Upon going in, I really didn’t see how it was so dirty as other people have said. It’s an older Chicago building. A good paint job could be had, but honestly this was nice compared to a dentist I even had out here. Inside the rooms, everything was bright and in their sterile packaging.
There were many people waiting, and it was a bit tough to get the staff to hand me a pencil to sign in, but that was it. They got me back pretty quick for an x-​ray (First time I ever had one that circled around my head and take it, as opposed to taking a bunch of pictures)
Went back to the waiting room, and then was called in about 5 minutes later. What I realized is if you had an appointment, you did step in front of all the walk-​ins.
Dr. W. and her two assistants that helped were beyond kind, and trying to put me at ease. The extraction was super fast and painless after the Novocaine shots. It took longer for her to ask me if there was a way I can find money for a root canal, because she didn’t want me to just lose a tooth if I didn’t have to. But until I get a job I couldn’t, but I thought it was nice of her to try to explore that option with me first. Within an hour I was in and out with a package of gauze, instructions and pain medications. My train ride there was longer then that.
My experience was really good, and I wish more people would leave good comment so not everyone is scared away.

Dr. Horowitz should be charged as a criminal. I have NEVER been so sadistically tortured in my life. I had a broken tooth which infected a nerve. I was on antibiotics for the infection and called Division Dental to have the tooth removed. I was told to come in before noon so I arrived at 11:30. Me and my swollen face sat until 3:00 pm until nearly everyone else had been seen. People who came in well after me had already been treated and left before I was called. When I finally got in to see the «DR.» I told him I was in a great deal of pain. He administered a single syringe of Novacaine (put it in two places). I was told to wait a few minutes to have it take effect. When he came back, I told him when I bit down I could still feel pain in the tooth. He said «let’s give it a try». Well, folks, this man let me scream and draw breath FOUR TIMES while he continued to yank and pull and shake my head side to side. When I say I was screaming — I’m not kidding. This was the worst experience I have ever had in my life. Have you no compassion? A woman is SCREAMING at the top of her lungs and trying to bat your hand away and you just keep pulling? The cream filling was that once finished, he put his hand on my shoulder (I’m still crying and shaking) and says to me «next time you should get the gas» and walks out of the room. His assistant takes off my apron and says «ok, you’re all done» and then SHE walks out of the room. Seriously, I was left to find my way out without so much as a second look. I’m so disgusted by this experience, I would urge anyone who has had a similar experience to call the Chicago Dental Council and file a complaint. For those of you who think the fact that he’s running a low cost clinic is a good thing, ask yourself if this is the best we can give those people who can’t afford a private practice. Quite frankly, Dr. Horowitz should be ashamed of himself.

I was referred to take my 6 year old autistic son to this dental office and i was totally displeased with their service and employees. I will never return there again. The place was overcrowded, small, not very clean, and a bad atmosphere completely. My son had a terrible time there and so did i… they were very impatient and rushing us… they didn’t appear to be qualified to work with a child with special needs at all. I actually broke down and cried after we left that office because our service was so bad… i’m trying to find out how i can further complain about this clinic because it is terrible and people should know about this! I only gave them one star because it was required on the site but this clinic deserves 0 stars!

I gave this place one star only because it is required for a post. I would have given it zero if possible. I walked into this clinic for the first time this morning and was horrified. There were over 20 people in the dirty, messy waiting room and the staff behind the counter (all four of them) were disorganized, frantic and one even had headphones on. Completely unprofessional. After waiting 40 minutes past my appointment time, I asked what the hold up was and they said that the doctor I was supposed to see was not in yet and they could not contact her. They could have told me that about 30 minutes earlier so I wouldn’t have wasted my morning. I canceled my appointment and will never go back.
I’m appalled that my insurance would recommend such a place and I will be contacting them about the horrendous conditions. Do yourself and favor and stay away!

Gross! Gross! Gross! I am very surprised this place still exists. Save your money and pay for a «real» dental office.

We need more parents to stop allowing these «professionals» to do anything they want to us or our children. I went there and the place was so run-​down and dirty that I haven’t been back. I received medicaid and they are one of the few that you can take your children to and who accepts the card. Medicaid needs to do a better job at screening these places. I will continue to contact the government regarding these places that we are sent to.
One of the employees, a male, was nasty and rude. I had to tell him about himself. This place was very crowded to be a small clinic. The employees were also buying bootleg CD’s. What a place.
