Incredibly bad experience. Initial service call was to install two water shut offs in my condo. I had been told that they charged $ 150\hour for labour. Although thus is above average they where available the soonest. The plumber, who ended up being the owner, Steven McGuire was on time and worked for about 30 minutes. The service was supposed to include turning the buildings water off and on. Instead of him doing this I had to turn it off myself once he arrived and on after he left. The parts used where 4 90 degree cast iron joints, approximately $ 2 each.
More than a week later I received a bill for $ 221. The bill was in no way itemized and included the service of turning the buildings water on and off. The bill seemed excessive, especially since I had done half the work. I left several messages for someone to call me. More than a week later I got a call back from Steven. I asked if he could explain the charges for me. Instead of explaining what I was paying for, he asked me «are you kidding?» Told me «if you don’t want to pay then don’t» and hung up on me.
But this wasn’t the end. A week later I received a NOTICE OF INTENTION TO FILE A MECHANICS LIEN. The worst part is that I never once said or even implied that I was unwilling to pay. I was just looking for an explanation of what I was paying for.
STAY AWAY FROM DEVON PLUMBING. I know it’s tough to find a plumber in the city and they definitely make it harder. I’ll be checking the suburbs the next time I need a plumber, whatever the extra cost.

I can’t say enough great things about Devon Plumbing. They were on time (same day service!), clean, quick and super helpful. We needed a bunch of odds and ends done in connection with the sale our condo (from leaks to caulking to sealing a gas line in our fireplace) and they were jack of all trades. Their rates are VERY reasonable compared to other companies ($ 145/​hour for 2 plumbers!) and the owner, Steve, is fantastic. Look no further for your plumbing needs!

I called Devon Plumbing to unclog my bath tub and stop the water from the bathroom sink from causing the tub to bubble up with more water. I had an 8:30 a.m. appt. They arrived at 8:25 and quickly got to work. I live in a condo building, and I appreciated their asking me if it was okay to prop the building door open when they needed to get supplies from their truck or if they should buzz my unit each time. Most service people don’t ask and prop the door open, which understandably alarms other condo residents.
The two men were efficient, calm, and talked quietly between themselves. They were here for an hour and not only unclogged the tub, but also replaced piping for the sink that was old and on the verge of breaking. They cleaned up the work area very well before leaving, another big plus. Their price was reasonable. Now it’s a few days later, and the tub and sinking are draining just fine. I would definitely hire them again.

I’ve tried to use Devon Plumbing & Heating twice in the last year. Both times they were no-​show, no-​calls.

I called Devon Plumbing after doing a quick search for «Lincoln Square Plumbers» in Google. Based on their reviews, I gave them a call.
Our tub was clogged, so I decided to try to take it on on my own. I was able to get part of the clog out, but in the process, pushed most of the clog further into the pipes. So now, my tub went from a slow drain to a no drain. It was frustrating. I called Devon, and explained my problem. Mike, the guy who answered my call, suspected that I probably wanted to take a shower today. He was right. Within 20 minutes (no exaggeration) he sent over 2 fiendly guys that were in my bathroom for 15 minutes tops, and now water drains like it’s brand new.
Devon was fast, inexpensive (only $ 135/​hr which I find reasonable), and most importantly, FRIENDLY! Great customer service with a great job done. If you’re in the Lincoln Square area, make Devon Plumbing your first call.

Devon Plumbing recently installed a hot water heater in a condominium association in Chicago. After the initial installation there were problems with owners receiving hot water consistantly. Devon Plumbing was tenacious in determing the problem and solving it completely. They were easy to reach, available immediately and professional in their approach.

Marco and Devon Plumbing came out to my house twice to fix a bum water heater. Both times he left thinking the problem was fixed and it wasn’t. When I finally called back yesterday morning, 4 days after first contacting them, they finally sent out an expert from a different company to fix my water heater.
So, I wouldn’t recommend Devon Plumbing for any kind of water heater issues. But I am glad they finally realized it was out of their knowledge zone and sent someone out to fix it the right way.

Once again, Marco and Devon Plumbing came through for us yesterday. I’m in a small condominium building in Rogers Park (7 units) and found that there was no hot water yesterday morning because our water heater had finally sprung a leak (it was 16 years old). Marco was here in no time, gave us a quote instantly on the cost of a new water heater, and got it installed and running by the end of the day. At the end of the day, the total bill was a teensy bit LESS than the quote from the morning, and a huge amount less than previous quotes from other plumbing companies
That’s the third time that Marco was here within an hour of being called. The first time, he managed to find the small problem that other plumbing companies couldn’t find. While they were busy putting together estimates for $ 10k to $ 20k to re-​pipe the building, Marco replaced the little $ 400 pump in an hour or two, and we were good as new.

Wednesday: 6″ of water seeping in through the new foundation and making its way up the step and into the basement.
Thursday: 9AM — 4 guys are splashing around with buckets, saws & hammers and I have a new sump pump, drain and yard drain.
Friday: I can stop freaking out.

I decided to call Devon Plumbing to fix a leaky faucet in my bathtub based on a recommendation from my neighbor. Two guys showed up a few minutes late for the appointment.
Once they were there, they did a great job diagnosing the problem, going out to buy the necessary fixtures, and installing everything in a timely fashion. I also had a problem with the toilet seal which they diagnosed on the spot and fixed, thereby saving me another service call.
I paid with a check and received a receipt two days later. I had requested the brand and style number of the fixtures that they purchased be printed on the comments section of the invoice, which they were. Overally I was very satisfied with the results, service, and price, and would recommend to others

i have been having problems with my basement flooding for years. i called devon plumbing after finding them on the BBB. Bob came out and took a look in the basement, said he couldn’t give me an exact price until they determined exactly what the problem was (could be 1 of 2 things) so i was expecting a very high price. His workers came out the following week, fixed the problem and charged me a very reasonable rate. I would recommend them to anyone.
