These guys are SNAKES! Don’t waste your money! We had them move us from the city to the suburbs. They stored our belongings for 1 month. When they came to deliver I noticed a hole in my brand new Crate and Barrel couch. Plus the bottom was torn. I told them on the spot that this couch was brand new and we needed to report this. They didn’t hesitate which I thought was a good sign. I received a call from Steve a couple of days later to discuss the situation and was shocked by his response. He said, yeah my guys told me there was a tiny hole in your couch but you could barely see it. I was infuriated! Yes it’s a small hole in a brand new barely used expensive couch! So here we are 10 months later. My husband and I had to pay someone $ 500 to have that arm of the couch reupholstered and where is Daly? No where to be found! Avoiding us like the plague. What cowards! I’m expecting our 2^nd child and have bills to pay and they have the nerve to run off with our $! I am preparing to sue because this is so wrong and so disappointed in the way they’ve handled this situation. Go somewhere else where they actually stand by their word. These guys suck and Karma’s a Bi@ch!!!

I used Daly moving last year, finally got around to write them a review. I was very happy when I found them. The owner was a no nonsense kind of a guy. They don;t charge separately for tape and boxes that kind of stuff. Their hourly might not be cheapest, but in the end, I think this is the cheapest and most professional option we could have gotten. They guys that moved us were nice and professional. They were real fast. I say we made a good choice.

So surprised by the 4 star reviews. It must be hit or miss with these guys. For my wife and I, the experience was awful.
We have worked with another company a few times, but they were booked for our moving weekend, so I tried Daly. Thinking that it would be nice to use neighborhood movers.
First, we scheduled with them for second run on a Saturday. I was awoken to loud knocking on my door at 7AM (first run) the Saturday before we were scheduled. They said they must have «gotten the wrong ticket» and left. I wondered if they would even be back on the right day.
Fortunately, they did come back, but with the smaller size truck, instead of the full-​size we had booked. Long story short: it took two trips instead of one.
We had three movers. One who was excellent. One who was OK, but who catcalled just about every girl who walked past our new place while he was at the truck. Great first impressions with our new neighbors. The third mover was «past his prime» with bad knees and constantly took breaks. I worked harder myself than during any of our other moves to try and speed things up.
Some of our stuff was dirty and sweaty from their handling. It took more time than they quoted, which meant that it cost more (even though they did credit us half an hour for the second trip we weren’t supposed to take).
I would not use these guys again and would recommend strongly looking elsewhere for your movers.

Daly movers were very helpful and I was very grateful. They showed up on time and they were very professional.
They packed all my stuff which took them a couple hours and woulda took me days, they were very careful with my expensive items.
They went above and beyond the things they had to do. I moved from a third floor to another third floor with no elevator they did the moves with no problem. The price for the packing and the two third floor moves was very reasonable. I would recommend them highly .So if you want to use real movers I would call daly movers. They are fast efficient and very professional. Thanks again for making my move stress less.

Don’t pay them upfront! That’s because they can’t then overcharge you for extra packing supplies and labor hours. They’ll ignore your phone calls and half ass the job. This is the horror story of moving companies.
Their «office» is in a crammed storage locker at Public Storage in 900 w Irving park rd in Schiller park. They were paid to pack a two bedroom home and they felt it necessary to take what they wanted. Only 90% of my belongings made it from point A to B. «I don’t know where your stuff is.» «We didn’t move the balcony» «You received 99% of your belongings»
To this day I’m still missing two grills, a 50qt cooler, a very nice sony rx100 digital camera, a stockpile of laundry detergent, a swinging glider bench, an expensive dolly, gorilla racks, and various other electronics. They «found» my cooler and a couple of the electronics. After being stood up on 5+occasions, over two months, I have no hopes of getting anything back.
According to the guy working the counter at Public Storage, ppl come in all the time with this problem with this moving company. You’ve been warned.

Hard working, professional movers. Their prices are very competitive. They were friendly, didn’t waste time and careful during the move. Would highly recommend.

Moved a small 2BR on 1^st floor to a bigger 2BR on a 2^nd floor .5 mi away.
These guys were ultimately really great. On a hot day, they moved very quickly and their experience was easy to identify. Organized, ready to adjust, and kept each other in a good mood and safe. They were gracious about the tips & cold drinks, communicated with us the whole time, made sure their choices about placement were OK, and all the other good things you hope for in a move. There’s not much to criticize here, but I’ll be clear about why it’s not five stars:
Half a star off for no confirmation email ahead of time, when Steve Daly promised it on several phone calls. I understand it’s the busiest time of year, but when a business owner promises something to a client, they should deliver it. With all the horror stories all over the web about independent movers, a short confirmation email with the details would have gone a long way towards calming my anxiety. Steve was really great on the phone, even when he was clearly worn out from working, but I’m a big written record kind of guy.
Half a star off for weird credit card behavior. On the morning of the move, when he called me to confirm (thank you!), Steve said credit cards would «absolutely» be accepted for payment. On arrival, leader of moving team tried to tell me he could only accept cash or check because «the machine [was] down». After I told him I needed to pay by card and that Steve had said it would be fine, it sorta suddenly became OK to pay by card. Sorry guys, but the fact that you take credit cards was one of the reasons I chose Daly Moving. Bait & Switch on payment method is not OK. Card was imprinted at end of move and charged same day.
But honestly — I can’t ding any more stars than that. These guys really had hustle, didn’t seem interested in stretching out the hourly charge, and were really polite when things didn’t fit where I originally wanted them. They really were a rockstar team, and are probably your best bet for a relatively inexpensive in-​Chicago move. I don’t hesitate to recommend them. Do it, hire Daly.

I was referred Daly Moving & Storage through Pack & Load Services when moving. This was a rough experience for my packing and loading services. They rushed and loaded my items, a 1-​day job stretched out to 3-​days. Steve Daly had informed me that he had other jobs, «high paying high priority,» which is why my job was delayed for 3 days. Over all I was not pleased nor will I recommend Daly Moving & Storage for future business.

My boyfriend and I moved in over Memorial Day weekend ad assumed the whole task would be daunting because we were moving two different places into one. Not only were the movers on time, fast, and efficient, they were friendly and pleasant. We even got a call from the owner, Steve, the next day asking us how our experience was. The next move, I’m totally using them again!

Daly movers was a class act from start to finish. We were able to book them on short notice (three days). We had a short move from Edgewater to Uptown. They were prompt and thorough, and very polite. They even took some furniture that we planned to donate because they said they had local charities that they made regular drop-​offs to. We used them to move 2 rooms of furniture and it was about 3 hours worth of work. We live on a narrow street and the front stairs are better for moving, so they did have some trouble with the jerks in my neighborhood beeping incessantly at them, even though they could get around the truck if they just paid attention. I would definitely use them again as my go to moving company.

I can’t tell you enough how much I enjoyed working with this company! When I first contacted them, they were very professional, warm and friendly. I liked what I heard as well as the quote I was given and decided to try them out. Of course I was nervous that maybe things would change when they actually came and I was definitely worried about my stuff… so much to the point I started re-​thinking things. However, upon meeting the movers in person, I felt very confident in these men! They were absolutely wonderful and really made sure they looked at everything I need to move. They talked with me a bit about what would get wrapped, how it would get wrapped and assured me that everything would be fine. Of course, they were right! My things were moved out of the old house and into the new one so fast and efficiently! I HIGHLY recommend this company and would DEFINITELY use them again!!!

We used Daly moving and I found Steve to be honest, fair and accommodating. I had three stops, the first stop was for a couch, the 2^nd was my apartment and the 3^rd stop was the new place. They do not charge a fee for each building you go to, just for the amount of time it takes, which I think is very fair. They movers were polite, fast and kind.
I initially quoted 5 places and Daly Moving and Storage was the cheapest. I definitely feel that I got more than what I paid for.

We set it up a month before and agreed on a 1 – 3 pm time slot, and they never showed up. Although we confirmed early in the day, they said they were busy and would eventually get us out. Unfortunately, they never came.
When we emailed for an apology, they failed to respond. This business lacked accountability and professionalism for two customers very happy to support a local business. Unfortunately, I have to recommend that you look elsewhere if you’d like a reliable moving company.
Lastly, I would recommend filing with the Better Business Bureau, if this company takes down your Unilocal review. Since they forgot to pick us up, I’ve noticed several bad reviews taken down for «violating terms and conditions».

I called Steve about a month before our move to get some information and pricing. He was super helpful and gave me a solid breakdown. Daly offers portable wardrobes for your closet clothes (no additional cost) and ask you to keep all your drawers packed (excluding any non-​clothing items) which were two things I really liked. In addition, they have custom pads (included) so you don’t have to worry about spending a fortune the day of because the movers say they have to use plastic or padding. The morning of our move Dave, Joe and Marty showed up at my condo in the Daly truck. Dave did a quick walk through with me to assess all the items being moved. The guys then immediately started the process of loading the truck. They were very fast and efficient and made sure to carefully disassemble any items requiring such measures to get through the doorways. All of the guys were friendly and you could tell Dave was very experienced and really knew his stuff! Once we arrived at the new house the unload was fairly easy, I had color coded the boxes for either kitchen, bedroom or family room so that made things pretty straight forward. Any larger or unmarked items the guys would ask for direction on and I would provide. They even helped me out by letting me wipe down a few things before they moved them in the house which I really appreciated. The whole move did take a little longer than I expected, but I take the blame on that. I think I am in denial about how much stuff I have ;) Steve had called me the day before to confirm details and see if I wanted 4 guys instead of 3 and I probably could have taken him up on that. To provide the specs: I moved from a 1 bed 1 bath condo in the city to a house in the suburbs and we started at 8:15 am and were done by 1:30 pm including an hour travel time (not bad at all). Overall, Daly was very professional, the owner and his guys really know their stuff and they work hard (don’t forget to tip, I was sure to have cash on hand). I definitely recommend Daly highly and would use them again.

I recently had a moving disaster when the company I had previously scheduled for my move did not show up to the job. I scrambled on craigslist before getting a referral for Daly Moving and Storage. Steve was extremely professional from my very first phone call with him and I immediately knew that I was dealing with someone who knew the moving business well. His rates are very fair. You can find cheaper movers on craigslist, but you will not be getting the expertise that Steve has to offer. You will also not have the piece of mind that the job is going to be done RIGHT and ON TIME. Thank you to Steve and his crew for helping me (even on such short notice). I will certainly use you in the future and will highly recommend you to friends and family.

Moving is the absolute worst. Since I dread it more than any type of dental work, I decided to hire movers. I found Daly Moving and Storage through Unilocal and based on reviews, called, received a reasonable quote and scheduled my move. The move was seamless, movers were professional and they had me moved in two hours. I will absolutely use them in the future. The only reason for 4 stars is it was difficult to reach someone in person when calling to schedule the appointment, other than that it was a great experience! Highly recommend using these guys!

Finding good movers is like finding the right hair dresser. Your stuff is important and you don’t want just anyone tossing it from one place to the next. These guys were great, helpful, and fast. They were able to move all my stuff without damaging any of it, they were friendly the entire time, and extremely hard working. I’ve recommended them to others who I know are moving soon and will more than likely use them again in the future.

I hate moving. I used to do it myself, but the older I get the less likely I am going to get help from my friends. They have their own lives and as we get older, payments of beer and pizza no longer hold any value. People want cold hard cash or a promise of a favor I will never be able to return. Then there’s the issue of their wives/​husbands and children. Who will take care of them while they’re taking care of me? Not to mention I’m extremely out of shape, and I would probably break myself trying to carry a box of pillows up the stairs. I think I’m at the point where I need to hire professionals.
I went against better judgement and called a mover who wasn’t the #1 recommended moving company among my peers, mostly because their estimate was lower and I happen to be poor. I’m glad I did.
It was a short move, just a few miles down Montrose. It couldn’t have gone better. I had to reschedule my move and they had no problem with that. They called me the day before to ask if I wanted to change my move time earlier since they had a cancellation and I gladly agreed. I asked them to come between 9 and 10am and they came at exactly 9:00 and started on the job immediately. Three of them carried down all my stuff in two hours, and unloaded into my new place in an hour and a half. Mind you, this was a 3^rd floor to 3^rd floor move, so I can imagine how awful it was.
So for anyone out there needing to move, skip the beer and pizza. These guys will make life so much easier.

Daly Moving and Storage made a tough day a lot easier for me. They arrived on time, scooped up everything in one hour flat, met at the destination and repeated the lightening round unpacking.
I would highly recommend Daly Moving and Storage to anyone who needs reliable, careful and solid movers.
