Incorporated in 2001, the College Nannies + Tutors organization has expanded to become the nation’s largest nanny and tutor resource. The Chicago office was opened in 2010. We’ve used CN&T several times over the past few months. The company itself is professional, courteous and understanding. They worked hard to find emergency care that would be a good fit for my child and shared a picture and information on the nanny selected before her arrival.
The nannies themselves (we’ve had 3 different ones over the year) have all been wonderful. Aside from past child experience they had training with CN&T to be able to work with my infant daughter. One nanny event said «Oh she sounds like a little goat, in our training they said that is a hungry cry». And YES it is! I was so surprised and thrilled that the company did such an excellent job preparing their nannies. (I kind of wondered if I should have taken their course before I had my first baby!).
If you’re in a jam looking for backup care I highly recommend making a call to this outstanding company!

I feel like they should re-​brand themselves. With a name that contains the word ‘college’ in it, you sort of think it would be more affordable to hire that nanny or tutor, but alas, no. I’m well aware that there are high-​priced childcare search firms that do all the leg work for you… and it’s clearly for the rich. I just didn’t think this place would be like that. I don’t know anyone who can afford to pay a nanny/​service $ 20/​hr for full-​time care. But clearly that’s me and the people I know. So obviously not the outfit for me, but still, I feel their marketing is a bit misleading. Not to mention the $ 1K placement fee you have to fork over to make it all happen. The Glenview contact was very nice however! If I had the money, I’d probably use them.

Joaquin Mercado, the Educational Services Manager, was so accommodating to us with all of my daughter’s special needs. He bent over backwards to find the right solutions for us on several occasions. He is very understanding and didn’t rest until we felt comfortable. I have never be treated better for any service!

I’ve used this great service for three years. They found me a sitter when I was in a jam and continue to be very customer-​service oriented. As a working mom, it’s a huge weight off my shoulders to know I always have a sitter.

1. They found applicants for us over the Internet — I even saw job postings on Craigslist! Ugh. I don’t want a nanny from Craigslist.
2. Our applicants only had high school diplomas. Some were enrolled part time in community college. They were not college grads with degrees in early childhood.
3. Some of the «experience» their applicants had was watching younger siblings. We had references from «dad». Really? I don’t count that as professional experience.
4. CNT will charge you about $ 5 an hour over the nanny’s hourly rate and applicable taxes and insurance. They have provided us with ZERO service for that additional $ 5/​hour.
They charged us hundreds of $$ for finding a nanny that we could have found ourselves through the Internet. If you need a nanny try
first!!!

College Nannies really helped us out of a jam when our regular nanny suddenly became ill. They came through in a really busy time when we didn’t expect they would find someone on short notice. I was expecting someone that I would have to train but was awestruck when the person assigned was so competent, I felt absolutely comfortable leaving her in the care of my child. She even cleaned up… totally appreciated but not expected. I hope to be able to have the same person back again but my hunch is that they are all of excellent caliber due to likely good hiring practices. Thank you so much for your help and peace of mind.

College Nannies and Tutors SAVED ME! My 17 month old daughter was sick enough to not be able to make day care, but not sick enough to really need me there. I tried all my usual resources and I could not find anyone to babysit during the day for her. I had already missed 2 days of work and could not miss a third. What a bind! My husband and I were trying to figure out what to do. Then I called Mary on a whim and enlisted the services of College Nannies and Tutors. No way would they be able to find someone for me for the next day. Well, yes way! They sent a wonderful, super-​qualified young woman (Heather) to babysit. She had her masters in education and was very enthusiastic. She called the night before to ask about what my daughter was like and the kinds of activities she likes. I thought that was nice and gave me a lot of reassurance. I could tell that Heather was engaged with my daughter because of all the art and other projects they did together. During my daughter’s naptime, Heather went to work and pretty much cleaned the kitchen top to bottom– she ran the dishwasher and unloaded it. WAY above and beyond. For my future last minute care needs, I won’t hesitate to trust them with my daughter.
