Divorce without Warfare.

From Disputes to Decisions.

I work with people who are having difficulties with people whom they can’t just ‘walk away from’. But they do not want to turn to expensive litigation and leave it to a judge to decide things. I no longer do any litigation of any kind.

Since 2000, I’ve focused my work on couples whose marriage is coming to an end and wish that process to be as healthy and constructive as possible.

In 2014, I’ve decided to also offer my services to people who are involved in other types of relationships and conflicts and who need support to reach joint decisions and workable agreements… rather than litigate.

Couples who are considering divorce,

Unmarried parents,

Neighbors,

Tenants,

Small businesses…

All of these and others can benefit from attempting to work together to reach workable agreements.

Whether we use the Collaborative Practice process or Mediation approach, or a counseling/coaching work with either or both of you, one of my goals is to make sure you spend as little time and money with me as is necessary.

If you’d like to explore the options that are available other than running to court to spend a lot of money fighting, I’d be honored to speak with you.

History

Established in 2000.

After years of doing litigation and trials in New York, I returned to my childhood home here in Chicago. As I began to establish myself as an attorney here [I also am a licensed counselor], I happened upon something called Collaborative Law.

Being divorced myself, I valued the opportunity it provides to support a couple in working together as they make the very difficult and sometimes disruptive decisions necessary for closing the book on their marriage.

Since my first awareness of Collaborative Law [also called Collaborative Practice], I have been deeply involved locally and internationally with its growth having served on both an Illinois Board of Directors and that of the Internationals Academy of Collaborative Professionals. I also recently founded the Collaborative Practice Professional of Illinois.

Business Owner

Beyond what I’ve described as the ‘business history’…that is after all my history… engaging in and working to grow Collaborative Practice is a good part of my life at this point.

I have no children of my own, but try to be a proper uncle to my only sister’s only daughter. I’m between pets. And am not remarried yet after my own divorce, though I’ve had several valuable relationships since.

My favorite outdoor activity is inline skating and I don’t get to do that nearly often enough. Movies, Music, Theater and Baseball kind of round out the rest of my activities.
