History

Established in 1998.

The company of Coldwell Banker was founded in 1906 when Colbert Coldwell, a young real estate Sales Associate, observed families trying to piece their lives together following the disastrous San Francisco earthquake.

Disapproving of Sales Associates who acquired property from vulnerable sellers and then resold it at huge profits, and seeing a need for honest, knowledgeable real estate professionals, he formed his own company.

The new company was based on a revolutionary philosophy: the client’s best interest above all. In 1914, Benjamin Arthur Banker, another real estate professional, joined Colbert Coldwell as a full partner. Together, Coldwell and Banker forged a tradition of integrity, exceptional service and customer satisfaction that became the company’s hallmark. The company was far ahead of its time in its focus on customer service.

This Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage location opened with a running start in 1995.

Meet the Manager

Kathy K.

Manager

Kathy Kalnes is the Regional Vice President of the City Region for Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Chicago. Kathy has been the Regional Vice President of the six offices in Chicago since 2007. Kathy Kalnes is a Certified Negotiation Specialist, Certified Coach, GRI designation, Broker since 1992, and a Realtor/​Sales Consultant since 1988. Before becoming the Chicago City Region Regional Vice President, Kathy was the Managing Broker of the Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage office in Hinsdale, IL and Oak Lawn, IL.

Kathy currently is CAR-​Vice Chair of Business Development Committee and on the Professional Standards Commitee 2009 – 2010. On the state level, Illinois Association of Realtors, Kathy served as an IAR Professional Standards Mediator, on REEF, Professional Standards committee, Education Working Group, and Association Operations MIG. On the national level, National Association of Realtors, Kathy served as a Director.
