Established in 2013.

Tom Tresser (www dot tresser dot com) and Benjamin Sugar (betweenthebars dot org) met last year and have been working together to establish this co-​working space for civic education and innovation.

Business Owner

Tom is an educator and organizer who has been working in Chicago since 1980. The CivicLab is the 13^th nonprofit enterprise he has started or led. He teaches civic engagement, public policy and nonprofit management at three local universities. He was the co-​leader of the No Games Chicago Campaign in 2009 (www​.nogameschicago​.com) and the lead organizer of the current TIF Illumination Project (www​.tifre​ports​.com) that is investigating and exposing what Chicago’s half billion dollar TIF program is doing to us on a ward-​by-​ward basis.
