Chromy’s Towing

Full of pure s****. Carmelo from Chromy’s is a liar. He told me I wouldn’t have to pay anything for towing. I have no insurance – This was a hit and run. Zero turned into $ 375. I called him and he yelled and called me a liar and hung up in my face. Still haven’t gotten in touch with his manager Lidia. She won’t answer her phone. Keeps going back and forth with «He say she say». Some body is gona f*** Carmelo up one day. This is something you cannot screw everyone over with.

I think it’s really funny that the rest of the reviews for this towing company are as negative as the one I am about the write.
I was sitting at a red light, headed home after work when I noticed this tow truck speeding through the alley toward the street I was driving Northbound on… the truck pullout out into traffic, blocking the Southbound lane, and tried to force itself in front of me. I sat patiently at the light while the very unattractive female passenger started yelling at me to back up.
What? I never waved you in, I had no idea if they were trying to tun left, cut in front of me, or just cut across to the gas station… plus, there just wasn’t room and the light was about to turn green. I turned down the radio and caught the tail end of the profanities spewing out this «woman’s» mouth. As soon as the light changed and the car in front of me moved, the tow truck barreled horizontally in front of my car and the driver leaned over a child that was wedged between him and the passenger (who clearly was not buckled up or in an appropriate safety seat) and yelled that now he wasn’t going to let me pass.
I just laughed at this ridiculous display of macho aggression and waited until the chorus of horns honking behind me finally persuaded him to pull away, into the gas station. I caught the name of the company as I was driving away. People like this shouldn’t be on the road. I’m sure someone will or already has gotten hurt as a result of these people’s bad behavior.
Obviously, I would NEVER use this company, but I feel like I should warn anyone considering hiring these people that they are very ugly people, on the inside and out. This isn’t Thunder-​dome and you are not Mad Max.

Did have a tow from them, but nearly got run over by their truck. Driver disatisfied with my driving came up behind me and let loose on the horn. Next stop sign I stopped and he went around me through the sign. Went to the next light and the driver gave me the finger.
A call to the service yielded the «I don’t give a F**» attitude.
And for the record this happened along Lincoln at 8:15 tonight. Driver went up Lincoln almost ran over people in an intersection. Turned on Western going north. Caught up to him at Peterson and he again gave me the finger.
EXTREMELY RECKLESS.

I was crossing an intersection with my three dogs and a Chromy’s Tow Truck pulled up so fast to the red light, I didn’t think they were going to stop. If they hadn’t seen me, I think we would have been run over. Very reckless driving!

Their truck just ripped down my residential street blowing every stop sign. Idiots.

Do not trust these guys. If I could give them zero stars I would. They are the equivalent of ambulance chasers and try to take advantage of people.
After getting in an accident their driver continously pressured me to tow my car to their shop. I refused to let them touch my car until after speaking to my insurance company. After my insurance approved the tow to a recommended body shop they claimed to be towing my car to Erie-​LaSalle. When I called the next day to check in on my estimate I was informed by Erie-​LaSalle that Chromy’s never delivered my car and that they had to send their own tow truck to retrieve it from Chromy’s affiliated auto shop. Apparently these guys are known car hijackers.
Not to be trusted. Do not use Chromy’s Towing!!!

They ripped me off big time. The driver changed the price of the tow AFTER I already signed the form. A $ 75 tow turned into $ 375.
Most towing companies are crooks so I guess I should have expected this.
