Great choice of items, I really like the design. They seem to have a kind of small production/​repair place over there too.

Fun store with american made stuff. The employees are really nice.
My husband and I bought backpacks here three years ago, and they still look virtually the same as the day we bought them. Though I usually don’t ride in snow, I’ve commuted on my bike with this bag in many thunderstorms. I don’t even worry about my electronics in the rain, because they stay totally dry.
Their selection of messenger bags is WAY cuter than their backpacks, but messenger bags hurt my back. I would like if they had more cute backpacks, but you can customize orders if you really want.

I had a problem after I bought my Chrome Berlin messenger bag online. The zipper was shipped shut! The zipper pull wasn’t there! I was so worried I might not be able to get it fixed and the color was very rare to find and limited. Fortunately, a very nice and helpful woman who opened the shop was able to assist me. She offered for it to be replaced but out of stock. Then she said she could try to fix it in 15 minutes. She worked magic! It’s fixed! I was so happy. I don’t know her name, but she rode a orange/​yellow road bike with a Chrome messenger bag full of patches. Her bag looks awesome too! She deserves lots of kudos for great customer service. I will remain a loyal customer for life.

Would recommend and more, great products, good staff, what other then 5STARS, very friendly atmosphere with the employees and helpful

The bags and service are second to none!!!
I have had a messenger bag for 2 years now. One of the seams was coming loose. I stopped by today and they resewed the seam and put a patch on as well. was in and out in less than 10 minutes! So awesome!

When you come in ask for Hanna, she knows her stuff. Aha a great spot for bags, bike lifestyle and more.

The shoes are low quality and the warranty is a joke.
Sales clerks are arrogant, hipster douchebags.

I used to like this store. But I bought several items a few months ago, including 2 pr. shoes. One thing that convinced me to buy them was the stated warranty. I see why they need that. One pair was defective (and replaced, thanks). The other pair showed unusual wear after only a few days use. I took them back. They said, «well yeah, the canvas does rip like that but it isn’t a workmanship issue. We won’t warranty them unless they completely fall apart at the seams.»
So I have to wear them until then? Despite the obvious design flaw, so soon after getting them? Believe me, I have worn shoes before – I know what is normal wear and what is unusual wear from a bad-​design.
Message to Chrome: STAND BEHIND YOUR DAMNED PRODUCTS (LIKE YOU SAID YOU WOULD) ! ! ! !
In the meantime – Timbuk2, patagonia, rei, ll bean, Nordstrom – you guys stand behind your products and you will continue to get my hard-​earned dollars, not these guys.

Best group of retail workers in the whole world. From being in the store– they are so personable to their custom bag skills and communication it does not get better than here. A huge thanks to everyone there for being totally kick ass.

Pricey? Yes, but you get your money’s worth and you will become a fan for life! I purchased the canvas shoe and the signature Chicago messenger bag and am so impressed at how well their products hold up. Not to mention, the patient staff that is very nice to deal and who do not pressure you to buy anything. This place is the heaven of accessories!

I have a crush on EVERYONE that works here. They’re so helpful and nice and they like bikes, which I also like so it’s clearly a match made in heaven. I’m not, you know, a cartoon wolf about it (jaw on floor, tongue out of mouth) when I go to the store or anything. More like you can see my heart pitter-​pat and I blush a lot.
Chrome stuff is great, pretty much everyone knows that, but these guys are what makes the experience.

So,
I don’t write reviews very often but I had to in this case. I went to the chrome hub here in Chicago as I have been trying to purchase a new more useful bag. I came from a small bag to this new AMAZING bag. Now I have only had the bag (buran) on for about 30 minutes but I can already tell that I will never get another type of bag!
On another note I really wanted to point out the fact that the two young ladies that helped me (Hannah and another lady (sorry I forgot her name)) were the two most helpful people that I have ever encountered in a retail setting! They knew their stuff, helped me find the exact bag that I needed, and really just made me feel that I was making the right decision!
All in all it was an amazing experience and I can’t wait to buy another bag from them (although they assured me I may not need another one for a very long time)! Thanks a lot you guys and everyone should visit these two at the chrome store on wicker park!!!

I am completely and utterly impressed with this place.
I got Chrome/​Gilt City gift certificate for my birthday this year. I own a few messenger bags, but not a Chrome bag (the huge buckle isn’t my thing). I was in the market for a backpack. I’d originally thought I wanted some type of tactical/​military bag, for toughness and overall badassery. This gift cert changed things.
I walked in and was greeted immediately by the manager (whose name I forget, sadly), who was very helpful and friendly. I had just come from a business meeting and was wearing a full suit. I normally bike commute to work, but you’d never know it by looking at me that day. I half expected these guys to gimme somewhat of the brush off. I apologize here publicly for implying these guys would be anything other than nice, it’s just a stereotype. And it’s important to note, b/​c of what actually happened.
So this guy was stereotypical? Not at all. He were incredible. He talked me through backpacks they had, why one was better than another in his opinion, and based on my needs which one would be best for me. I happily walked out w a brand spanking new backpack. I was in heaven.
TWO WEEKS…
The backpack just didn’t ride on my back the way I wanted it to. It bulged in strange places, and overall just didn’t fit the way I wanted it to. I felt bad, but i really wanted to return it. I wasn’t sure what was going to happen.
Again, same guy, nice as all hell. Listened to my issues, agreed to take the bag back (it had been out of the house once, had all its tags, etc… don’t try n use yours for a month n bring it back full of roadfelch).
I am the proud owner of a Cardiel Fortnight, and I must say, it is the best backpack I have ever owned in my life. It is built like a fortress, and can carry anything I can throw in it.
I am overjoyed with my purchase, and impressed to the nines with the customer service and great attitude of the employees.

I came in to just look at what they had and ended up getting some of the best customer service I’ve gotten in quite sometime. They do a great job of making you feel welcome and helping you out, without being pushy or feel like you’re being pushed to buy things. Overall, I would go out of my way to come back.

Not a planned visit but traipsing around the Wicker Park/​Bucktown area last night and stopped in because my boyfriend wanted to get a phone holder to go with his Chrome bag… and I ended up getting a bag of my own.
Totally in love with my new bag that I got at a HUGE discount, boyfriend got his phone holder (for only $ 10 as that’s all they cost with a bag purchase), and the staff was super friendly and knowledgable.
Would definitely go back!

I stumbled across this shop during the Wickerpark fest with zero intentions of purchasing anything. I was greeted by a sales associate by the name of Quinn who ultimately sold me the idea of why I need a Chrome bag. It took me 2 extra visits to finally commit but every time I came in, they recognized me– working in an environment that strives in customer service, needless to say, I was very impressed. Her expertise and knowledge of the everyday needs of a cyclist along with a strong, informative sales process lead me forking out the $ 180 and I firmly believe it’s worth every dollar. If you ride leisurely, professionally or just in need of a good backpack, you need one of these and ask for Quinn! This is by no means a plug btw…
I love my bag and I’ll definitely be back to customize my next bag. The Chicago Chrome Industries shop and team rocks!

As a biking commuter in Los Angeles, I an a real big fan of chrome products. I have a pair of clipless sneakers and a messenger back from the on-​line store. Needless to say when I was vacationing in Chicago, I went out of my way to go check their store out. The staff was super chill and really friendly. I had a great time chatting with them, checking out their products and trying on some tee shirts. My experience here definitely reinforced why I love this brand!

OMG! This place took my breath away. I love messenger bags, backpacks, duffel bags and quality bags in general. If I ever become homeless and have to live out of bags, I will truly be styling. I have a closet already well stocked and I think I may be adding to my collection after discovering Chrome. I loved the fact that you can custom design your own bag, but the variety of selection here is overwhelming.
The staff was extremely friendly and outgoing, making the shopping experience fun.
If I don’t order from their website, I will be visiting this location again on my next trip to Chicago.

I actually found parking on Milwaukee which almost never happens!
Love the bags and the amount that the store carries is awesome, so many options. The quality of the bags are always top notch. I had already online shopped before I came in but I walked around a bit. The staff was friendly and helpful with all of my questions.
Bought a bag and got a laptop case half off.

I agree with pretty much everyone who has reviewed the Chrome store, let’s not discuss the quality of their product, shirts, bags, shoes, socks, everything! I took the fiancé to get a bag over the weekend, my better half is usually good about knowing what he wants, but the Chrome store has so many options he didn’t know what to do with himself, he was a kid in a candy store.
I love the staff, Liz is an absolute sweetheart. She was so patient and we’ll definitely be going back for another bag soon.
