I wish I could give this place negative stars. We ordered some fried rice from this place and it looks great. WRONG!!! Get get half way through the rice and guess what we find?! A freakin band aid!!! Almost threw up when I saw it. How can you not notice when you lose a bloody band aid and not know where it is. Please be careful next time you order from this place.

If I could give this place zero stars I would.
I order from here very often and they have been great until today. I ordered Mongolian beef and received it with only 5 pieces of meat literally, and the rest was all onions. I called to inform them that my order had no beef and the owner which is the lady stated that it’s per ounces. I explained that I understood that but all of the ounces were of onions and she said she understood that but that’s what they sent. I asked if she would fix it and she said no that that was her Mongolian beef even if it didn’t have many pieces of meat. By far the worst service I have ever received and do not recommend anyone to go here. They cheat you out of the food you order (stingy). Very disappointed.

Your traditional neighborhood chinese restaurant with good prices and good sizes. Their szeschuan veggies are delicious

Taste of food: pretty good run of the mill greasy American Chinese food.
I live down the block so it’s super convenient and I’ve pick up a few time before today. I WILL NEVER RETURN.
Seriously do not eat at this establishment.
I just stopped in and ordered a meal, I go to sit down and there is a GIANT cockroach crawling all lover the chair. This cockroach was HEALTHY and about the size of a quarter. It had no feared being seen and it just crawled up and around the chair I was almost about to sit in (thank god) and then climbed the wall to the ceiling.
I can only imagine what is going on the kitchen. If you have any self respect for your body, please I beg you not to eat here.
They are very friendly and the food is great and greasy… But not worth the conditions.
I am unnerved that I even live down the street from this place.

I’m not crazy about the soup, and haven’t tried the smoothies. The orange chicken, egg rolls, crab rangoon, and chicken fried rice hit the spot! Been ordering here over a year and have never had a bad experience.

Ordered here before and was pleased with the food, quantity, taste, and price. I decided to come back for more soon after, but this time around, I was cheated. I was billed for a size large and they packed a small sized order. To add insult to injury — no plastics, nor napkins were included. The food tasted completely different in comparison to the last time. It tasted horrible! — I ordered the exact same thing! Disgusted. I’ll go elsewhere from now… be warned!
Update: I was starving and figured I would try the place again to see if things were better (it was within walking distance of the McKinley park library). Big mistake!!! I ended up contracting viral gastroenteritis from contaminated food!!! I was admitted to RUSH as I was in pretty bad shape — this has never happened to me in my entire life!!! Forget this place!!! I will never step foot in here if its the last thing I do. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!! Do not chance your health by eating at this dump.

Food: Excellent! Always steaming hot with heaping portions.
Prices: You can’t beat it! Lunch specials are a steal and the regular entrees are well priced anyway.
Service: Wonderful. The owners are so nice and I always look forward to seeing them. The lady is such a sweetheart!
Recommendation: Orange chicken lunch special, crab rangoon, and (in the summer) a watermelon/​honey dew smoothie.
China Wok is by far my favorite quick Chinese restaurant, and I’ve been to many all over the city. I have been frequenting this place for over a year now and have never had a bad meal. The owners are nice and the shop is cute with an ever-​changing display of fish in their aquarium. Plus, they have comfortable seating (booth style) if you want to eat-​in.

It’s an ordinary Chinese restaurant for a workday lunch. Their speed is fast. Street parking. Only visa and MasterCard accepted.

Best. Chinese. Ever.
The Good: The food is cheap and the portions are generous. Lunch specials are $ 4.95 before 3pm or $ 5.95 thereafter. Served with shrimp fried rice and a huge egg roll. Nothing is frozen!!! The veggies in my Kung Pao Chicken were soft and tender without feeling like they were defrosted this morning. The chicken was tasty but the shrimp fried rice killed it. Fresh juicy little shrimps and fluffy rice. *insert drooly face here*
The Bad: The counter guy is kinda, well, rough. Haha his English is hard to understand and if you’re ordering delivery I suggest online to make sure everything is right.
The Ugly: Parking. Parking in Chicago is TERRIBLE. But you knew that. Don’t park in the gas station because I watched them tow a car. Just look around for street parking if you aren’t in their delivery area.

This place has awesome orange chicken, fried rice and their crab ragoon is really tasty. It’s a take out joint, not a sit down place. It’s annoying when people give take out places poor reviews expecting high quality food for as if it was a 4 star restaurant. It’s a take out place and you pay dirt cheap.

I suppose that after getting lunch from here on average twice a week for about 5 months, I should write a review of the place.
Frankly, the only reasons why I got lunch from here in the first place are 1) that I’m daring and 2) that most of the other places for lunch in a 3-​block walking radius from the office were closed down for «renovations». So when Jazzy Bean bit the big one a while back, I walked a little farther and found this place. And I’m frankly never going back to Papa Freddie’s if I can help it.
Being a Fat American, this place has all of the staple «this is what ‘Chinese food’ is to Fat American» menu choices, and they offer a lunch special that comes with shrimp fried rice and an eggroll. Done deal.
The first time I got food here, I was dismayed that there was no Governor’s Chicken lunch special here. So I went with my backup, Sesame Chicken. Which was pretty much 60% chicken, 10% watery sauce, and 30% broccoli. Now I’m not at all a fan of vegetables. When I get chicken, I want chicken. I didn’t ask for a salad. That being said, the chicken was satisfactory and the broccoli was not so satisfactory.
Next time, I tried the Mongolian Beef. This was 30% beef, 20% sauce and 50% vegetables. Not at all beneficial. in my mind.
I bounced around the menu, invited co-​workers to adventure with me, and finally I hit upon Lunch Special #21: Orange Chicken. 0% vegetables. The sauce was not at all watery, and had good flavor. The chicken was… well, what you would expect from a hole-​in-​the-​wall Chinese joint. But it got the job DONE. And I’ve never turned my nose down at the heaping pile of fried rice with the little tiny shrimpies. And they make a darn fine eggroll to boot.
So that’s my go-​to now. It’s lunch (and occasionally there’s enough leftovers for a 2^nd lunch the next day) and it’s quick and painless. In fact, my «lunch bunch» and I will stop in, order up our lunch specials, pay the guy (who now recognizes us on sight and remembers that one of us always requests white rice instead of fried), and then head over to Walgreens for some drinks and whatever else we need — then we head right back to pick up our completed lunches and head back to the office to chow down.
Why only 3 stars? Well, they’re inconsistent. I finally hit upon The Lunch for me, and yet randomly the sauce would change in flavor or viscosity, or the chicken would taste like it was far more sub-​par bits o’ meat, or it would be overcooked and stringy. It’s like they have 4 difference chefs back there and you never which one is gonna make your food (or one chef with wild mood swings or multiple personality disorder). And then next week, back to the stuff I like and it tastes fine again.
But it’s not enough to deter me. The food is really not great. But the Orange Chicken Lunch Special has gotten me through some very stressful days, and I admit that it re-​heats well (or rather that re-​heating it doesn’t affect the flavor/​texture very much).
Only other major problem? They’re closed on Mondays.
Too bad — sometimes Mondays are the days I MOST need some Orange Chicken Lunch Special…

We work in Pilsen and has a lot of choices around us. Yet we order Chinese from here for a few reasons:
Huge portions even the lunch specials! You can get two meals out of it!
Fresh and hot when delivered and ON TIME. We work in a school with so little lunch time, they are always on time.
and so far I like what I ordered: orange chicken, beef and brocoli, beef over pan friend rice noodle, mongolian beef, and szechuan dish. egg rolls are huge and one last thing, the special came with SHRIMP fried rice!!!

Used GrubHub delivery. Lots of food for the price. Plenty of food in the $ 8.75 appetizer tray, and it’s all good. The watermelon smoothie tastes like a real watermelon. The orange chicken lunch special is a lot of food for a cheap price, too, and it’s yummy, too. Will order again, especially since given a menu with coupons with the order!

China wok is unfortunately a great place to order from when I blow off making dinner, which is really counter-​productive! Their food is great, hot, and FAST. I can order the food, put my shoes on, and walk over to China wok and the food is ready. And it’s a five minute walk. I figure the walk saves me the delivery fee and tip, PLUS I can work off the impending calories first.
I’ve not had anything I don’t care for here, and we’ve been trying new things to branch out. Between an appetizer or two and one big entrée, I have food for like three days! I don’t spend much time in the restaurant, but there is a waiting area if your food isn’t quite ready yet.

Well, let’s jump into it. This place serves food that is bland, bland, bland… Yes, the second time I ordered (we were desperate) I asked them to spice it up a bit more. Nope.
First, I had the Curry Chicken dish. The curry sauce was so watered down it was barely recognizable as such. I mean, it was a waste of money, truly. A flavorless mess with only one positive — the chicken. Had there been any more spices, or sauce to flavor those chicken chunks up, we might have been able to enjoy the dish. When I asked them to make it spicier, I got the same thing.
The person I ordered with, had the Sweet & Sour Chicken dish. They said it was just «alright» and nothing special.
Oddly enough, I saw one other reviewer write about how bland the pot stickers were. I would say that’s not entirely true. I actually enjoyed mine and the addition of the sauce made it a nice light and tasty treat. It is on the basis of the pot stickers that they earned a second star. I actually have a taste for them at times! Maybe I should just order two of them and eat as dinner and a snack?
The pork fried rice was standard fare. The BBQ pork was not good at all. It just tasted «off» to me.
The one very positive thing to note is the service. When I went in there, they did tell me if there is a certain way that I want things done or have a special order — let them know. I thought that was very nice of them. And, I may try another dish and call in some special instructions the next time. If they strike out again, I will just indulge in the pot stickers from time-​to-​time and leave it at that.

I ordered Pot Stickers and Beef Lo Mein from here, along with one Strawberry Banana smoothie. The Pot Stickers and Lo Mein were BLAND, hardly any flavor. The smoothie was way too sugary and very small. Really generic stuff here, I would suggest driving to Chinatown since it isn’t that far from this location. It’ll be around the same price but it’ll actually be worth it.

If only their smoothies had tapioca balls! It disappoints me when Chinese places show pictures of smoothies, some with the tapioca, but don’t actually have bubble tea. It’s a dirty trick to lure me inside.
They have some meatless items, the portion sizes are enough for leftovers and it’s reasonably priced. I bought Chinese broccoli (I try to avoid Asian brown gravy). So good! Then again, I added some stuff once I got home (sesame seeds, soy sauce).
A standard Chinese place, but good enough for me to return one day, especially because so many Chinese places in my neck of the woods don’t have a lot of meatless stuff, some not even tofu. What a difference from the northside!

If you live in China Wok’s delivery order, I have to recommend that you get delivery from Jim Ching’s instead. The prices are a little higher but the food is way better…
Triple Kung Poa was missing the Poa here (where was the price) and the Curry Supreme was missing the beef. In addition, they forgot the smoothies? We have just called for them to deliver free smoothies so maybe that will make things better, but we kind of wanted them when we ordered the food a few days ago.

The portions are big, but more importantly taste good. It isn’t the fanciest food but certainly better than anything else anywhere close. The more basic dishes (Mongolian Beef, etc) were better than the «specials.» They are pleasant on the phone and inside. I will certainly order again.
