We’re a swim school that truly loves to teach. We take pride in having coaches who can connect with infants and adults, beginners and veterans. We use the best methods and technology to help our students swim with grace and flow.

History

Established in 2003.

2003 — John Fitzpatrick founded Chicago Blue Dolphins (CBD) with a focus on adult swim instruction and Masters/​triathlon swim training.

2006 — CBD opened its first Swim Studio in Bucktown with one Endless Pool. Emphasis expanded to include adult learn-​to-​swim and competitive youth swimmers

2009 — CBD expanded its instruction to include children’s learn-​to-​swim from ages 6 months and up

2013 — CBD opened its second Swim Studio in Bucktown with two Endless Pools and expanded operations to include the Swift Elementary school in Edgewater.

Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner

John Fitzpatrick is the owner and head coach of Chicago Blue Dolphins, an adult aquatic fitness business based in downtown Chicago. He was selected «Best Swim Instructor» in «Chicago Magazine Best of 2006» magazine. He is a Total Immersion Teaching Professional (TITP) and a Director at Total Immersion Weekend Workshops. He is an member of the American Swim Coaches Association (ASCA) and an ASCA Certified Level 2 Masters Coach. He completed 4 weeks of training with Rob and Kathy McKay’s Lifestyle Swim School in Boca Raton, FL where he learned their system for infant-​toddler instruction. He also completed the Swim Whisperer workshop for students with special needs. In addition, he is a USA Triathlon (USAT) Level 1 certified coach, an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI), and an American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor. He has been a competitive swimmer for over twenty-​five years and competes as a Masters swimmer in backstroke and individual medley events.
