Had a Classic and it was amazing. The place is nice and clean. My only slight and I mean slight complaint is I wish you guys had soups.

So, the food was great and was just what we wanted on a Sunday. We brought our kids because we had never been and I saw that they had a kids menu and it was 1pm on a Sunday, so figured it was fine. Problem is, they played extremely loud, un-edited rap music the whole time. We are pretty laid back parents, and personally we loved the music. However, «you can do it put your ass into it,» «me so horny,» etc. is a bit much when you are eating lunch with kids. We had no clue and thought it would be fine considering they had a kids menu and everything. We asked about it and they said they have to share the sound system with their bar Whiskey Business next store. That seems kind of strange, but whatever. We loved the food, and would love for that to be a regular weekend lunch spot for our family, but as chill as we are, we can’t let our kids listen to that music. The playlist would be fine if it was edited for radio. It’s too bad it isn’t kid friendly because there are a ton of families in the neighborhood and there isn’t really a place like that. The food and the chalk tables are awesome. If it wasn’t for the music, i would have given it 4 stars, but at this point, we wouldn’t go back with the whole family.

Update to the below review: After a few more attempts at calling their line, the cashier answered and I was passed to their manager. He said he would re-make our order himself and drive it over to us. He rectified the situation but it may be some time before we try this location again. —– Both the food truck and the Lakeview location have been a great experience for us, but tonight we decided to try the wicker park location and were very disappointed. We got our order to go, and waited 15 min for our order despite it not being busy at 1am. We were then handed a stapled bag with our food and we left. When we got home we realized we didn’t receive our dipping sauces(the travesty) and our sandwiches weren’t correct! We called up to make this wrong a right and we were left on hold, but not really on hold, they just placed the phone down so that we could hear all of their conversations for 10MINUTES. THEYNEVERCAMEBACKTOUS. We were totally let down by that ineptitude and lack of care on the follow up. No dipping sauces(the point of the sandwiches), no retribution, no luck calling back. Terrible experience.

Love how this place turned out! Definitely different from the original cheesies, but that’s bc it’s brand spankin new! The food is still amazing and the staff is super nice! One of my new favorite spots to hangout and have a few drinks and end the night with a grilled cheese to avoid a hangover :)

What a huge disappointment– I had the classic Grilled Cheese– which was just average. Went for lunch, there was a couple in front of us– and 4 behind us– we were the last of the only ones in the place to be served, and our order was not piping hot– the server, said– sorry for the wait. Had to ask for ketchup for the fries– was told, that should have been on your table, well ok– it’s not– need ketchup. I did like the french fries. It was 1PM when we left and there were at least 3 tables with dirty dishes still on them as we left, and I couldn’t help but notice that were a lot of fried foods left behind. Not sure what it was, not eaten though. There was a waitress/bartender who seemed to keep busy, and after we asked for ketchup, she was directed to put the ketchup out on all the tables. But she didn’t bother to clean the dirty tables. The space is huge, and the potential is great, they are new in the neighborhood, perhaps I will come back in a few months and try again.

I haven’t been to the other, original locations but I had heard great things. I love grilled cheese, but this just tasted like something I could have made at home. I got«the OG» so your classic grilled cheese, but I was expecting something more than what I could get at a simple mom-and-pop diner. It didn’t even fill me up! The tomato soup for dipping was really tasty though, not too spicy or salty. My boyfriend got«the Tenderizer» which has chicken fingers in it but he was expecting a more filled sandwich, about the same as I felt about mine. We also got the mac and cheese bits to start, which were pretty good but not sure they were worth the price. From what I’ve heard about the other locations, maybe they just haven’t found their groove yet with this one? I had high hopes but they just weren’t met.

CHEESELOVERSREJOICE. Just like Charlie from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia asks, «How much cheese is too much cheese?» I, Natalija, am an addict when it comes to cheese. You’ll usually catch me casually devouring an entire block of cheese, no biggie. Obviously after a chill night of drinking and a recommendation from a friend to go try Cheesie’s, I had to make this happen. I ordered the Mac and a side of loaded tots. The Mac was, well, it was cheesy euphoria. No other way to describe it. The loaded tots let me down though. Tasted a bit burnt and just not as good as I thought they were going to be. Overall, this cheese lover was satisfied. I will be back, so let out your inner Charlie and get it, get it!

Grub is just as awesome as other locations. So pumped they have a wicker spot. The staff is so much fun and welcoming. Oh, did I mention the artwork is fantastic! Who did this? Can’t wait for more locations. When do you NOT want a grilled cheese? Duh

Six Words: Not as good as other locations Now, let me preface this review with the following statement: I am a Cheesie’s fan. I’ve been to the Evanston location once, the Belmont location 4 or 5 times, and the food truck dozens of times. I love Cheesie’s. So it kills me to rate this location 3 stars. It really does but I feel as if I’m justified. I arrived around 5pm on a Friday because it had just been a rough workweek for my friend and I and we needed comfort food. We walked in and I was immediately hit with the sensation that this place wasn’t my Cheesie’s. It was too clean, too polished, too unwelcoming. With a long walk to the register, it felt like I was walking into a Chipotle or some other fast food restaurant. Not a homey, pub that serves alcohol with amazing grilled cheese. We ordered and the menu was the same, more or less. Food came to the table like normal. But the food that arrived at the table wasn’t the same. The flavor was missing. That something that made a Cheesie’s grilled cheese better than the one you can make on your stove. Granted, I went for something I hadn’t had before, the Melt(cheese with chicken breast, bacon, 1000 Island Dressing, and tomato on Texas Toast), but it wasn’t as flavorful as the countless other sandwiches I’ve had. My friend ordered her usual, the Frenchie(American, Mozarella, Cheddar Cheese Sauce, a Bed of Thick cut French Fries, Bacon, and Chives on Sour Dough Bread). And it tasted like undercooked, potatoey french fries stuck in between two layers of cheese — not like her usual Frenchie from off the truck or at the Belmont location. We left disappointed. The food was edible and not horrible. To someone who had never been to a Cheesie’s before, it would probably be adequate. But this location isn’t as good as the other locations. Maybe they’ll grow into it, maybe not. Until then, even though I live in Wicker Park, I’ll make the trek up to Belmont when I want my grilled cheese.

Love the loud and fun music! Fun chalkboard tables to doodle on. The Melt was very gooey and the bread was slightly crunchy in the best way. Although I don’t need anymore fries, I would like a slightly larger portion. They seem to be fresh cut in-house which is a plus. So glad they’re open for lunch as Wicker Park has more options for dinner than for lunch and I work in the area. Nicest gal who took my order and delivered my food to the table. Very pleasant service.
