Established in 1993.

This private practice was started by Dr. Leonard Drucker. He retired from this office in October 1993. At that point, Dr. Lau assumed full time responsibilities. The office was located in a medical building at 5758 N California, Chicago. It was relocated to Jefferson Park in July 2007. The office was opened 2 days a week with Dr Drucker. It has now evolved to being opened 5 days a week.

Dr Lau graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry in May 1993. He is a member of the Illinois Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. He is an examiner for National Boards and serves on the board of directors for the Jefferson Park Chamber of Commerce.

I was very pleased with my first visit to Dr. Lau today and happily scheduled my annual checkup for next year. He was very thorough, very personable and even though this was just my first visit, I can tell he is a gifted listener. Many other doctors are keen to try something new — and I realize technology keeps getting better so there are new options to explore — but Dr. Lau respected that my current Rx is working well for me so why mess with success. He also had some great ideas about supplements to consider and I will do my research on that. Thank you for a professional, relaxing exam today!

Dr. Was very accommodating he thoroughly examine my husband’s eyes and discovered a remote infection. he was personable friendly, and informative very professional. this is our first visit there it was such a good experience that I even made an appointment for myself. most definitely recommend he took our insurance which is a huge plus.

Very kind and helpful staff and Dr. Lau was awesome with my 6 year old’s eye exam. He really took his time with her and made sure she was comfortable. My daughter is really shy and he was very soft spoken and made little jokes which made her laugh and feel comfortable. This is a great find and I’ll be back in the future for my own appointments.

Dr Lau is awesome. My daughter feels very comfortable and gets excited when it’s time to go to the eye doctor! I love the comfort level we feel there. They are very flexible, and it’s usually easy to land an apt last min.
The prices are affordable as well.
We will be here for as long as my daughter needs glasses!

i went to dr. lau based upon the great reviews he’d already gotten here on Unilocal.dr. lau, as well as the staff at the front counter, FAR EXCEEDED those great reviews & my high expectations. i’ve never been to any type of doctor who takes as much time & care with his patients. i really can not recommend more highly that you go to dr. lau’s office for vision care. you will NOT be disappointed.

Dr Lau is an amazing optometrist and person. I have been seeing him for 11 years now, and he, along with his wonderful staff, are genuine, caring, and helpful. They helped me select a pair of stylish new frames recently, and while I wAs away at school, shipped me a box of contacts when I was in need.
Dr. Lau is also ridiculously good at small talk, which is a skill I thought no one could have

Dr Lau is great. He is very thorough with your eye exam, explains everything he is doing and answers all your questions. He is very personable and make the experience comfortable. I have going to dr Lau for a few years now. His staff is also great and very nice. They accept most eye insurance but don’t really know how much it cost without insurance. I have been to a few other places before for my eye exam and dr Lau has been my favorite.

I have a very bad astigmatism and always looking for good optometrists. I found Dr Lau and I need don’t need to look any further. He is amazing, takes all the time needed like you were the only patient. Very happy with his service. Highly recommend!

After reading some Unilocal reviews for an optometrist in the area, I took my 4 yr old to see Dr.Lau.
I couldn’t be happier with the service Dr. Lau and his receptionist provided. Clean office, friendly staff and efficient exam. Great with kids… patient and kind. Thoroughly explained to me what he was doing and I felt comfortable asking questions.

Dr. Lau is great. After my exam he gave me sample contacts to try out. I wore them for a few days, but there was just something off about them. So, free of charge, he re-​examined my eyes for a full 45 minutes to figure out the problem. Then he ordered me some new contact lens samples, also for free. He was incredibly patient and thorough. I’d definitely recommend him.

A friend suggested Dr. Lau a few years ago — the wife and I have been going to him ever since. A true professional: he’s punctual, thorough and really puts the customer’s needs first. After my old contact lens were discontinued, he spent the time and effort to have me try multiple brands before we found one that was just right for me. The staff has been nothing but helpful and courteous. Highly recommended!

Great little optometry location located in Jeff Park. I just want to give props to the customer service. I came in looking for someone to pop in my new prescription lenses in my new frames that I received in the mail. Sara (h) was super helpful, assisted me right away, placed the new lenses, and gave them a super clean finish at the end. Customer service goes a long way, and I’ll be suggesting this place to any nearby friends who are looking for some new specs.

I found Dr. Lau through Unilocal,and I’m so glad I did. He gives great personalized service and really seems to keep up with the latest advances in eye care. I usually go from one optometrist to the next each year, but I’ll definitely be sticking with Dr. Lau! He’s not only personable, but seems to really care about making you see your best.

Took my 8 year old daughter to Dr. Lau today for her mandatory school eye exam. The office is very clean and modern. The receptionists/​assistants are very friendly and accommodating. After filling out our new patient paperwork it was less than 5 min until Dr. Lau escorted us to the exam room.
He was very friendly and helped put my daughter at ease by explaining all of the procedures in detail. His equipment seemed up to date. He was very thorough with his examination and made sure I understood everything before we left the office.
Although we weren’t there for eyeglasses, it looked like they had a large selection.
I will definitely be recommending Dr. Lau to friends and family.
