If you are looking to learn more about Fashion, you’ve found the place. Our camps, classes, birthday parties and workshops focus on creativity, fashion design and sewing. We offer classes for children age 8 to adults. Private lessons and special groups are welcome, too!

History

Established in 2003.

Cayenne Couture Atelier was created to give the world garments that fit in 2003. Hundreds of garments later with three years of getting untrained help CCA Fashion Sewing and Design was born. At Cayenne Couture Atelier «Fashion Sewing and Design», The art of sewing was passed down from mother to daughter from generation to generation. Now, things are different. With the availability of affordable and well-​designed clothing reduced the need for home sewing and with it, the overall understanding of this once-​necessary skill. But now, people from all walks of life see sewing as an opportunity to move beyond the cookie-​cutter approach to fashion, and express their own personal style and their creativity in the clothes they wear everyday.

In 2006 we took our first student in the dining room of my home. In just one year the business out grew the dining room in to the family room in the basement to now almost seven years later a beautiful studio in the Bridgeport Art Center.

Meet the Business Owner

Khalilah H.

Business Owner

Khalilah has over 25 years of fashion sewing and design experience. Both self-​taught and formally trained Khalilah discovered her love for fashion at the early age of 5. She loved making clothes for her Barbie dolls by hand. By age 7 she was sewing on a sewing machine not just for Barbie but herself as well. As she grew her love for fashion design grew.

Over the years Khalilah has traveled and attended many schools to gain as much knowledge about her craft as she could. She has obtained a Master’s degree in both Fashion Design and Fashion Marketing. She has worked many fashion and traded show both headlining and behind the scenes. If it had something to do with fashion she was there.

Now, she is always at work creating and designing custom designs for women, men and children. She takes pride in her one of a kind wedding and evening gown. She has mastered the art of fashion design and couture and now she is sharing her love and passion with the next generation.
