History

Established in 1975.

To tell you a little about us, Carpets in the Park started in Chicago on Milwaukee Avenue near Six Corners (Irving, Cicero and Milwaukee), by Joseph Taylor. Joseph worked through High School at some of the Six Corner establishments and realized the significance of not only a quality product, but excellent customer service and affordable pricing. Carpets In The Park has then been serving the Chicagoland area as a full service family owned and operated professional flooring company over the past 30 years, winning hundreds of customers since then as experts in floor care.

I started Carpets in the Park over 25 years ago in Chicago at six corners on Milwaukee Ave. We have grown a little bit each year. Now we service the entire Chicago Land area with the same personalized serviceand professionalism that we offered when we first opened our doors. We wanted a lot of cushion and even upgraded the padding. We were told we would need to shave the bottom of the bedroom doors because the carpet would be so plush there the door wouldn’t clear it.
It was hard for us to tell from the small sample brought to our home that this was entirely false. The carpet is very thin and sitting on the floor in the playroom is uncomfortable. When we followed up, we were told that is the quality of the carpet that we chose and for that price, that is what we should have expected.
Really, after spending thousands of dollars, I expected to get what we were told we were getting, which was thick, padded carpet. I would not recommend them to anyone. We spent so much money that we are waiting to replace the carpet, but when we do, we will go to an actual store and not buy from someone who brings samples to the house.

Update: We moved and had to redo all the carpeting upstairs in our new home. Joe as usual was great and very accommodating!
So we did the typical search for carpeting in our condo through the major advertisers and ended up calling in Luna for a quote. Not to brag, but I consider myself quite the negotiator and based on some research I expected there to be some back and forth with Luna. Between Luna’s arrival and departure (and follow up the next day) there was a 50% discount from their original offer. I declined to commit to a sale that evening despite their much appreciated persistence to close as I indicated that I needed to check other options.
Here’s where Joe from Carpets in the Park comes in. I had arranged an appointment with him a few days down the road from our other appointment and he was on time as scheduled. There was no real offer/​counter offer scenario here. Joe came in and took his measurements and gave me his price. While not as cheap as where Luna’s final offer came in the spread was only a couple hundred bucks and this was his first offer. I explained where Luna came in at and we agreed to split the difference. Deal done. For those of you out there that don’t appreciate the art of negotiation, Joe is the way to go.
We had arranged for a tentative installation date as he was told he would receive the carpets by a certain date but could not guarantee that would happen so he also provided an alternative date. Luckily, things panned out the way we wanted and he called to follow up and indicate we were okay with the tentative date we initially agreed to.
Installers were prompt, courteous, they are definitely knowledgeable about their profession. The install was great and they moved all my large furniture around without damage. I definitely recommend Joe and Carpets in the Park.
I would have given 5 stars but I felt that there was a lot of leftover material that could have potentially brought the price down (I have 3 fairly large rolls of carpeting leftover). Regardless, Carpets in the Park is a winner in my book.

Although we haven’t used them for the official service, the gentleman Joseph that came out for our estimate was timely and professional. He showed us all options. We decided to list our home recently and are likely not going to go through with the estimate but will absolutely use them if we reconsider.

We had a huge project! Joe Jr was so professional and patient with us. I was changing my mind constantly to get the affordable price. My husband and were very impressed with this company. We just moved here from Atlanta, GA and experienced water damage from a pipe bursts that required our floors to be replaced. We called several vendors and Joe was by far the most responsive and professional. He consistently followed up which is rare in my experience working with home improvement contractors.
His team was professional and prompt. We would recommend them to anyone and would use them again. We love the floors and our guests have all commented on how gorgeous they are.

My very small job — one room in the basement — was handled as well as if it had been the entire house. (A burst water pipe ruined my office carpet, though could’ve been so much worse!)
Joe was very responsive, bringing samples on site to match a digital photo. His price was very appealing — with savings earned via their online estimate form and a special website coupon. I pulled out the old carpet and pad myself, so that also helped.

After an initial hiccup, the owner Joe came to our house to personally show us carpet samples for our three bedrooms. He was very patient as my indecisive husband and I tried to choose a color.
We picked a date to have the carpet installed. The next morning, I emailed Joe saying my mom could be available to be at the house the following Friday. Joe was very responsive and put a rush on our order. He still kept the first date we chose in case the carpet didn’t make it in time.
I was called two days prior to the installation date letting me know we were ready to roll. The installers were on time, courteous, and got the job done beautifully. They moved several pieces of furniture in and out of our rooms without any damage. Overall, we are very happy with the process. Thanks Joe!

I definitely recomment Carpets in the park and Joe for his great work. I am very pleased with the work done in my condo.
I had laminate installed in my living room, and carpet in the bedroom. Joe was very responsive prior to the work starting. He took care of everything with the management office in my building and I had very little to worry about.
Very easy to schedule the work, and the guys who came in were on time, polite, professional and cleaned up after themselves.
I got 4 different quotes before making my decision, and Joe was on line with the cheapest one but was definitely more professional and ended up being extremely reliable.
Again, I 100% recomment Carpets in the park. You won’t be disapointed!

Having checked on Unilocal for carpeting, we came across Carpets in the Park. We called the number and Joe contacted us soon after to set up a appointment to view samples. We had already viewed a commercial for «Rhino» carpet and asked Joe to bring samples. He showed us the lesser expensive samples but since we requested a thicker more expensive carpet, Joe had to come back a few days later with those samples. The carpet was ordered and laid within a week. Joe was great, the installers were excellent, and the carpet… fantastic…We would recommend Carpets in the Park to anyone looking for a good experience in carpet shopping

Carpets in the Park did an amazing job on our new carpet! Joe came out to our new condo in Schaumburg to show us samples, measure and give us an estimate. He told us about a $ 200 off online coupon and gave us an unbelievable price. He did not have a pushy sales pitch and made us feel very at ease. His crew was on time and did a perfect job installing the carpet. One of the Big Box stores told us that it would be 3 — 4 weeks from measure to installation. Carpets in the Park took about a week. I would highly recommend!

We are so happy with our beautiful new bamboo flooring! Joe came to my condo and brought several samples. When the kind of bamboo that I chose didn’t come as quickly as we had hoped, we decided on a prettier, more expensive kind of bamboo, but Joe did not charge me the difference. He was friendly, kind, reassuring, quick, and the prices were more than fair. We are going to have him install more flooring later on. I cannot recommend highly enough.
