Beyond our commitment to serving a great cup of coffee, we hope Café Mustache becomes a place for our community to socialize, share, and engage one another. Our mission is to be a positive force for culture and community in Logan Square, and help to ensure this remains a vibrant, unique neighborhood.

In addition to being a great place to hang out, Café Mustache is an important and unique part of the local music scene. Since our first show with Angel Olsen in 2010, we’ve been hosting great musical events several times a week. Jazz, hip-​hop, experimental, spoken word, rock and roll, dance parties — Café Mustache does it all. The Chicago Reader calls Café Mustache Chicago’s «Best non-​traditional music venue.» Check out our events calendar for upcoming shows.

While we provide nothing but the best high-​quality coffee, espresso, and tea beverages, we also believe that «coffee culture» should be accessible to all and free of exclusivity, elitism, and «attitude.»

I ended up here the other day, in need of killing some time. Since it was beyond cold outside I wandered in here and boy am I glad I did! I had the best hot chocolate I’ve ever had in my life. EVER! Their menu is pretty extensive, they also serve alcohol (and alcoholic coffee, because why not mix two amazing drinks in order to make something out of this world tasty).
It’s definitely a neighborhood spot, and one that suits this neighborhood quite well, but I would definitely come back! Also, I loved that they had a globe lamp and a ton of books just laying around. Made it feel homey.

After looking around in the area for a coffee shop with an open available seat, we happened to discover this place. It made for a good Sunday night get-​your-​laptop-​on for a bit coffee shop, then it turns into an actual dinner spot!

The place itself is beautiful. But the menu is not impressive and neither is the quality of their drinks. Coffee is just coffee, and I’ve tried their hot chocolate which is warm milk with chocolate syrup. Maybe they work better as a bar at night?

I’ve watched Café Mustache grow and mature over the years from an underwhelming startup to an increasingly professional operation. Through it all, this café has maintained a local coffee house charm with friendly staff and strong coffee.
I come here every Sunday to grade papers, enjoy a bottomless $ 3 mug of coffee and the occasional pastry. And the music! Since the expansion, the sound system has improved greatly and I can count on the staff to spin (yes, spin) all my favorite jazz, classic rock, and country/​folk favorites.
Food: I rarely come to eat, but every dish I’ve had has been good. The vegan chili is my usual go-​to, and it’s very filling. The dining options can be relatively expensive compared to other options, but Café Mustache does well with the limited food preparation/​kitchen area it has.
If you’re in the mood for a nice, quiet, and local coffee shop/​café experience where you can sit and get work done to the sounds of the classic standards played the way music was meant to be played, Café Mustache is the best option in Logan Square.

It’s small, and over-​priced, and stupid and hipster. Something like $ 4 for a small orange juice and $ 9 for a mediterranean wrap. Like literally 4 ounces of orange juice for $ 4. *blinks*. I just moved here from Los Angeles, so I’m no stranger to cost but when I go to a hole-​in-​the-​wall coffee shop in Chicago I don’t expect to pay $ 18 including tip for 4 ounces of orange juice and a damn vegetable wrap. What the frack is going on here? Any way, if you can stand hipsters and all their stupid ass vegan options (the menu looked like it came straight out of Portlandia) the vibe is chill and the staff was nice.

I’ve been here a few times with my brother during the day. It’s a quiet place with free wifi. Perfect for studying and getting work done. They have a bottomless coffee deal, which is the only thing I’ve ever gotten. Aka prepare to get WIRED while you’re there.
My brother got the vegan chili once, and I took a bite. Had a nice little kick to it, and it was nice and heavy! I’ve seen other food there that looks good, but I have never tried any of the rest.
They have a full bar that opens up later in the night, and they also have various events that happen there, which I have never checked out.
I love going to this place! Perfect little coffee shop.

Came in to eat some food, have a drink and use the wifi I get some work done. Bought my drink and food only to find out they shut their wifi off at 6pm. Bloody Mary was bad but the vegan chili was really good.

It’s very reasonably priced, the coffee is decent and there are never any lines.
That said, I know we’re in the heart of Logan Square, but why are the baristas so standoffish? I’m not even asking for a smile, just a greeting. It’s so off-​putting to approach the counter and the barista is staring at you, vacant-​eyed, with an eyebrow raised as though to say: «Well? What do you want?» And it’s not just one person — it’s everybody who works there. What is wrong with you people.

The coffee is at its point. Strong strong. The atmosphere is friendly. You get around seating with asking. The service is quite pleasant. The decoration and comments on the wall really make me laugh every single time.
This time around I had the black pepper, vanilla latte. It was intense, but indulging in the sweetness. Oh, and I had with a bagel that was was really well scented and flavored. They made a lovely match.
I recommend them highly, since they’re functional and practical. They’re spacious, delicious, and happy. That mustache.

When planning a night out to catch up with an old friend it’s nice to know you can find a low key spot near Logan Square. On a Friday night, café mustache was exactly what I was looking for. There’s a café when you walk in but a cozy bar area is right off to the side. While you won’t find anything on tap, their bottle selection should work for you whether you’re looking for a local craft beer or just a few Schlitz tall boys.
What if you don’t actually want to talk to the people you’re hanging out with? Café Mustache has something for you too. Most nights they have some kind of entertainment on a stage near the bar. When I went there happened to be some kind of experimental video synced with a guy on a piano, then a local comic. So if what you’re looking for is a quiet night, check this place out.

I really wanted to walk in and use the line «i mustache you a question» to the barista but I unfortunately did not for the sake of my sister and friends. I like corny puns and jokes but not everyone finds them funny so I had to save it for another time. Café Mustache doesn’t look much from the outside nor the inside but it’s a decent coffee shop. There was a good amount of people working and reading inside and had a relaxed atmosphere. I ordered the El Jalisco latte and my sister had the black pepper, fig, and vanilla latte. My drink was pretty good, it had agave and cinnamon in it but mainly tasted like a cinnamon latte. As for my sister’s latte the description sounded good but when you drank it, it didn’t taste like fig or vanilla or pepper. I definitely preferred my drink over hers and would recommend trying mine. There was only one guy ringing us up and making the drinks so a line accumulated fairly quickly, luckily we were the first in line. Overall Café Mustache is an OK café but nothing outstanding.

I’ve only been here for Sunday karaōke and don’t think I will return. The drinks seem overpriced to me. First I tried a cider (I think it was $ 6) that tasted like water. Then I tried wine ($ 7) that looked like grape juice and tasted equally disappointing. Additionally, every pour was lighter than the last.
I was satisfied with the karaōke until I tried to sing more than once. My friend and I always enter our slips close to each other. Typically she sings, and I sing right after her. I was a little slow this time, so there were a couple singers in between. After she sang for the second time, I was expecting to get called soon after. About 10 songs later, I decided to ask the KJ for an estimate. As he sorted through the slips, I noticed he had lost my 2nd slip and my 3rd was buried underneath about 7 other singers. He said to me something like, it’s not about fairness, it’s about balancing the mood, and I can bump you up… if you put some money in the tip jar. «That’s the way it works.» Yeah, no. I left. Karaōke here is only for people in their early 20s that want to sing happy, overplayed, slightly annoying songs. I will pass.

Apparently this place just opened so I strolled on down with some friendly (borderline creepy) dude strutting next to me the whole way. When I arrived at the door, he told me that was his final destination too. At least I was sure I was at the right place. But enough of the journey.
I walked in and the environment felt like a jazzcat’s college campus. I almost started snapping my fingers. Cool, hipster café with a good amount of seats in the front and back room. There was great jazz music playing. My attention span was losing, but my foot was grooving. I ordered a small cappuccino. Four dollars straight! It came out quick and was extra, extra frothy just the way I like it.
Speaking of which, it didn’t catch on at first till I started writing this review, but their name is quite clever since my first sip left me with a big, white, frothy mustache!

I first stumbled upon Café Mustache when I was in of search a café to help kill some time. Café Mustache was a great selection because it has such a relaxing and chill atmosphere which is perfect for people that want to escape the noisy streets of Chicago.
I would describe Café Mustache as a hipster and classical music lover paradise. The inside looks like you walked into a Miami antique store. The tables are tiny (mostly 2 person tables) but there is ample seating.
When I went to Café Mustache there was only one person working but she was very friendly and worked quickly. All of the customers seemed to leave with a smile on their face.
I had the chance to try the breakfast sandwich which they empathize as having mostly organic and local ingredients. The sandwich was pretty tasty because they usw a curry Aolio sauce. The sauce helps to take the sandwich from basic to delicious. The only issue I have about the sandwich was that it was $ 6 which is a little steep for just eggs, cheese and sauce.
I would highly recommend Café Mustache for anyone that is dining solo or on a date because it’s such a small and intimate place. They offer a ton of different board games that’ll remind you of your youth.

Inside Café Mustache, it’s a total amalgamation of furnishings. Chairs, tables, lamps, artwork, books, records and games are many and varied, making the café feel as much like an antique store as it does a coffee shop.
One of its most popular items, the Black Pepper Fig latte tastes like a sweet vanilla latte until you reach the end. That’s when the pepper hits. It’s settled at the bottom, leaving a trail to the mouth of the mug. It lends a round, warm spice to an otherwise cloying drink, and at $ 5 each, the latte could have benefited from having this flavor uniformly prominent.
Still, Café Mustache’s relatively quiet atmosphere makes it a cozy, kitschy spot to curl up with coffee and a good book.
