These guys have it all together! They came highly recommended to me and all of us couldn’t be happier! It was the perfect birthday and Captain Joel made sure it was the best experience for all of us! His experience and professionalism was obvious throughout the entire process. Simply said, don’t consider any other charters. There can only be one number ONE! Brush and Roll Charters Rock!

Captain Joel was the best. He was very patient even though my parents and I were running late. He made sure we had the best experience and caught almost 20 fish!!! Just FYI, Follow the directions on the website, take the anti-​nausea medicine the night before. But anyway, If you ever want to go on a fishing charter, this was the very best!

I dont usually give 5 star ratings, but Joel’s charter is exceptional. Besides having a great time on the boat, we Joel’s years of experience led us to a huge haul of trout and salmon. I would recommend his charter over any and will be back. Also parking in 31^st harbor and getting there is way easier than the rest of the city. Thanks Joel!

in two words… Top Notch!
Capt Joel took care of everything, all we had to do was reel our catch in. He was very knowledgeable and had some great tackle.
We were worried about going at a time when the salmon really weren’t running, but the skipper still managed to find us a bunch (we landed 9 that morning!) What a great time. This trip was a personal treat for myself and an old friend, but I could easily see inviting a business client out next time.
The boat was modern and clean, which is a nice change from what’s left of Chicago’s aging salmon fleet (oh and the boat was fast as hell, which gave us the opportunity to fish a few different areas in one outing)
There was underground parking right at the harbor and the harbor facilities (bathrooms, walkways, docks, etc) at 31^st were surprisingly nice.

Captain Joel is the BEST! He put us right on the fish, and we KILLED them! The boat is flawless, fast, and slays the fish. The best part was watching Joel bring in the fish and the grin he has with everyone we hooked!

My brother and I went out with brush and roll charters and it was one of the best fishing experiences I ever had. I had fished in Asia, Europe and other parts of the US before but the boat, the crew and captain Joel are by far the best. Captain Joel definitely has a nose for where the fish are. They are very professional and we had a lot of fun!

My family met Captain Joel thru a fishing derby for kids that they sponsor.
As a result, I have been on 2 outings with Joel and his First Mate. Once in 2011 with his smaller boat and again in 2013 on the new, larger boat.
His prices are reasonable for what you actually get. I thought we would be able to just sit back, enjoy a few beers and catch a few fish, but that isnt the case. We were on the fish immediately and it stayed like that during the whole trip!
Here size does matter! If you want to fish and come home with your limit of freshly filleted salmon, talk to «Da Captain»!

Not at all apologetic for the low rating. My friend and I were planning a birthday fishing charter for her and four other people (a total of six people) in October, and we did a lot of research on the charters available in Chicago. We liked the reviews and rates for B&R and decided on them.
However, when I emailed about the reservation, I received an email back from the Captain stating that though the boats are licensed for six people, he request that we only have four people. I followed up with a reply stating essentially then why be licensed for six if you «prefer» only four people. His response:
«As a Captain my goal is to make our customers safe. As a business owner it is to make our customers feel comfortable. 6 passengers plus a mate and a captain feels like musical chairs. Something the coast guard could care less about. I want to give adequate time and attention to each passenger without relocating them and shuffling them around.»
He then tossed us to a different (more expensive) charter. While I understand it’s your charter and decision, that is not how you do business to customers willing to pay for a service. If you are so concern about the customers’ safety, either get a bigger boat or change the license to four people instead of six to avoid misleading customers. Won’t be considering them again.

When you are visiting Chicago it is hard not to see Lake Michigan. Why not take in the waters during the summer? If you like to fish, large king salmon and lake trout can be caught along with coho salmon and steel head. Captain Joel will put you on the big ones. One of my best charters and I have fished with charters from the Carribbean to the Gulf of Mexico to the Pacific off Mexico and the waters surrounding Maui. Brush and Roll Charters is top rate.

I wanted to go fishing with my dad on Father’s Day, and I decided on Brush and Roll charters after looking through their website. I couldn’t be happier with this decision. It was an AWESOME time and we caught tons of salmon.
From start to finish Randy and Joel were top-​notch and found ways to land fish when we could hear on the radio others weren’t. They were kind, patient, and taught us a lot about how the fishing works here. We learned what to look for when a fish is on, and much about the different tackles, depths, and strategies for catching fish.
I definitely recommend going fishing with brush and roll charters. It was a great Father’s Day, and I know we’ll be coming back again soon.

My 2 friends and I had our 2^nd trip with Brush and Roll Charters, that’s right, SECOND! We loved it so much last year we decided to do it again this year. After doing some research, there is just something about BNR that makes us come back. The atmosphere is very friendly, laid back, fun and full of adventure. Capitan Joel and his mate Randy are suitable for all characters and have plenty of stories to share with us every time we went.
This years boat is bigger, more luxurious, and fast! I simply loved heading out to our fishing spots blasting my favorite songs from SiriusXm, it all adds to the excitement.
At the end of our day we had a boat full of large fish which Randy prepared for us to take home.
Lastly, if you say you want King Salmon and not Coho’s, the team will do their best to find you some, unlike other charters who will want to cut down on going out further due to gasoline prices.
If you are looking for a great time, in a safe, fun boat, with experienced fishermen, look no further. I will be seeing BNR again soon!

Captain Joel sure knows his stuff. You’ve got to check this charter out for the full Lake Michigan fishing experience! So much fun :) I would highly recommend.
