Cool for a looksy, but poorly organized and overpriced, especially considering the shape most items are in.

They do have some odd and hard to find stuff in here, but my review is based solely on guitars. Being a guitar player for almost 25 years I pretty much know the ballpark figure or spot on figure for many guitars. When I was in this place none of the guitars were priced. I asked about the price of a couple of them(used guitars) knowing beforehand how much the guitars could be purchased new elsewhere for. For each guitar the girl behind the counter took several minutes on her computer. Both times she came up with a price that was at or above the price the guitar could be purchased new for. Sorry, I am not going to pay the price for a new guitar to buy a used one. If they would adjust their prices I might buy from them. Until then-no way.

I purchased something from Broadway Treasure Hunt via their Etsy shop, and they were supposed to mail it. I waited and waited, and when I contacted Jimmy, he said it had been mailed a week prior. I waited and waited. I contacted Jimmy again, and he said he had the item in his car and wanted to bring it to me.(Wait, I thought it had been mailed already?!) I did not want him to come to my home(I was on vacation and did not want something that expensive left on my porch… Also, seemed creepy… Plus he had already lied about mailing it). I contacted Jimmy again, and asked him to mail it as originally planned when I purchased and paid for the item. He did not respond after multiple contacts. Finally, I cancelled the purchase via American Express(because it was too late to file a claim on Etsy). A few days after that, my framed item arrived via carrier, packed with nothing: zero bubble wrap, flimsy cardboard wound around the frame of my item with no padding whatsoever. So, I finally received my item, 111 days after I purchased it. Unreliable, unresponsive, rude vendor.

Hidden treasures are in the eye of the beholder. If you’re in the neighborhood, if you see the Blues Brothers outside the store, they’re open. I won’t say what 4 hidden treasures I’ve found here, but let’s just say I value each one. Broadway Treasure Hunt is on my «drop by» list any time I’m in that neighborhood.

Okay this place is is proof that good things come in what looks like small packages because Treasure Hunt looks like a small store from the street but once you get inside you realize its much larger than it appeared. I love this place !!! It’s truly a visual feast and and they have lots of great stuff at way more reasonable prices than the antique malls — which i also love to stroll thru as long as i am in this awesome part of this Edgewater neighborhood :)

Staff is kind but really need to know the things are selling to you. They give false impressions on the condition of the goods then stand back after you’ve bought it and say«no returns». Was once a fan, now just kinda bummed at and pissed people won’t be honest and amend mistakes.

How dare you lure me here with your awesome Blues Brothers statues and your«shark jumping out of the wall» mount that you display outside. Once you get into this place its actually a dump. There are not«treasures» to be had. Would you like a crappy random record or an old random chair? This is your place. Interesting antiques and collectables? Nope, not here. What I did see that was decent was naturally way over priced. Go ahead an skip this on your window shopping/antique adventure. Not to mention you’ll be privvy to very interesting talks between the owner and regular lunatics.

I can’t believe how many times I’ve walked right on past this place and not gone inside! It’s a very unassuming little nook, but there’s something inside for everyone. The name is very appropriate as it definitely takes a bit of hunting to get to the treasure. Piles upon piles and shelves of thrifty finds(some junk, some treasure), this is definitely a place to venture into only if you have some time on your hands as it may take a few rounds to get to the really good stuff. They have a lot of old vinyl, but some really great selections, in boxes in the front. After picking out a pile of records and bringing them to the front, I was fairly certain I overdid it. Low and behold, I only ended up spending $ 15 on some very nice finds :)

Once upon a time last Wednesday I was looking for used 45’s with small holes(somewhat rare) in them to make candle holders for my best friend’s Beatles-themed wedding. At first, I walked in and was like«JACKPOT» because they had boxes upon boxes of 45’s. I looked around and right off the bat found about 15 of them. There were only a few things that had marked prices on them, and so I inquired how much they were. At first, a gentleman taking his lunch break told me $ 1– $ 2, which is about what I had been paying at other places. Then the girl behind the counter said that they were more like $ 2-$ 3 or more. So I took my 15 records up to the counter, and then she had to check the price of each record on ebay.(I waited at the counter for a while, and then she kept apologizing that it was taking so long, so I walked around so she wouldn’t feel bad.) Not only was I unimpressed with her checking the price of each record on ebay(shouldn’t these things already be priced accordingly? So people don’t have to wait 15 mins for you to tell them«I actually can’t sell you this record, it’s worth $ 10?») but also, most of the stuff they were selling was crap! Half used glade candles? A box of 10 year old hammers? Multiple figurines with broken hands? While they had one or two things that were admittedly cool, most of it was boring/gross stuff from old yard sales and donation boxes.(a used Trek mountain bike that had tears in it and was very clearly in less-than-perfect condition was $ 599. WHAT?!) When I returned to the counter, I was allowed to buy 6 of my original 15 for $ 12 plus tax. While I might go back once or twice to find a knick knack on occasion(or perhaps search for more $ 2 small hole records for the wedding), I do not plan on making this one of my frequent vintage store stops.

VERY fun and whimsicle. It really is worth the trip. It is like traveling inside a time capsule. They can find you almost everything, plus they are willing to buy and trade items as well. The staff is EXTRA friendly and they also do eBay for the general public. You really must stop by and see it. I go there for all my vintage toys, nick nacks, and antiques, as well as, great deals on apparel and general merchandise and electronics!
