Local and long-distance Black History Tours
History
Established in 1994.
We provide local tours and destination planning for groups visiting Chicago. We have worked with conferences, conventions, reunions and groups from Japan, Germany, and Nova Scotia. Most request for out-of-state tours are to the Mid-West, South and North Eastern States loosely based upon but not limited to the Underground Railroad. Because much of what we do is off the «Beaten Path», most of the travel is done by motor coach. Our tours are well rounded for the various age groups and include local tourism as well as sites and activities unique to the area. We are beginning to branch out to tour some locations in Europe and Africa.

Business Owner
B.A. Degree from Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana. First position out of college was as a speech therapist and the first African American teacher for Alsip District 126 in the south suburbs of Chicago. Upon transferring to a position within the Chicago Public School System and recognizing the continuing great void of Black History being taught; Black CouTours, Chicago’s first tour company to focus on Black History Tours was established. The goal was to uncover and expose little known Black History especially for Chicago Public School students. Over time activities to whet appetites to learn more on their own were added such as defining Black Artichecture and Soul Food. Special projects such as developing a healthier you by walking the distance an enslaved person walked to freedom via their Underground Railroad Experience was established. Today Black CouTours is in demand to provide services to groups through out the US and Europe as well.
