The tuna salad, potato salad, and macaroni salad (when they have it) are to die for. The pre-​made cheese balls are also really convenient and delicious if your a fan of blue cheese. They should start taking credit cards. I sometimes have to tailor my order down a bit to ensure I have enough cash to cover it.
This place is currently for sale. I hope whoever buys it is smart enough to keep the same salad recipes!

Have been going to swansons forever!!! The food gets 5 stars. Negatives: the hours are short and not open Sunday’s & only accept cash Sandwiches great and fresh. Soup tasty & the hot food specials daily are great and you get large portions!

Love Swanson’s. The salads are so very good. They are more expensive than some places but they are so much better than those in Jewel that are made in a factory. Great spot for a quick lunch and have plenty of options for sides to bring home to the family…

Potato salad rocks my world every time I have it. This place is great for your basic deli needs, as well as for a quick sandwich and cup of soup.

The best corned beef on the south side of Chicago. They also have the worlds best potato salad! Everyday they have a new lunch specials and a soup of the day. Everything on their menu is 100% homemade and awesome! Their homemade cheeseball is a staple on the south side.
Lunch can get very busy here so I would suggest calling ahead if you have a few different things to order.

Two words: chicken tettrazini.
You can buy it in a quarter pan. That should feed six but the creamy, comforting deliciousness could easily be polished off by four. You can take it home, put it in a casserole dish and make an old-​fashioned man or woman fall in love with you.
Their rolls are pretty good, too.

I love Swanson’s!!! Their corned beef is the best thing ever. We buy in bulk!
Sometimes they run out of their own recipe though and they have another kind they substitute with, so if you’re going to order you should probably ask first. Their potato salad and chicken salad is the bomb too!

Swanson’s does have the best potato salad on the South Side! Their sandwiches are always great — with very generous portions of lunch meat.
Swanson’s is the perfect place if you’re in the mood for a great sandwich!

This place was a great spot to pick up a quick sandwich when I was teaching on the South Side today! I had a roast beef sandwich, and it was SOOO good! The deli uses fresh Turano bread (mine was on whole wheat, but they have white and multi-​grain too!), and it was obvious that the meat was fresh as well. You get a choice of potato salad or cole slaw to accompany your sandwich (I went with the slaw, and it was good-​and the perfect serving size!).
In addition to sandwiches they have a selected variety of desserts (I went with the apple slice which was good) and salads if sandwiches aren’t your thing.
This is a catering company as well, but I didn’t peek at their menu, but I’m sure it’s along the lines of deli style lunches which can include subs, italian beef and other run of the mill sandwiches.
