Bein and Fushi is a well-​known instrument appraiser/​restorer/​dealer– their selection of violins is incredible, and if you’re in the market for a truly find instrument I’d recommend it here.
While they are based in Chicago, they fly out to potential buyers (I’m in CA). I almost bought a violin from them years ago, and they were fairly good about the process, although I did feel quite a bit of sales pressure. I suppose the fact that I was 14 at the time might have gotten the dealer to push me a little harder than he would an adult, but still, it’s not like you’re selling cars. Otherwise all the dealings I’ve had with them are professional and courteous.
