For the only decent kosher(glatt) in Chicago look no further than Bebe’s. These guys know their kishke from their kenedelach.

Best kosher pastrami sandwiches in town… and great staff… they take a lot of pride in these sandwiches

I’ve eaten here at least a dozen times. Really good, little pricey for a simple sandwich, but really good. Small warning, they are closed for every Jewish holiday which has surprised me on a few occasions when I went there. So double check that before going. (The –star is for the price, not the being closed thing, ha)

This is one of only 2 certified kosher joints downtown so they get an extra star in my book just for convenience. Great attentive and accommodating staff. Definitely had some hits and misses but lots of great reliable hits. Here are some very flavorful great items I’ve ordered and that have been consistently good. Hot pastrami, hot salami, bbq beef(opt for it in a wrap because otherwise this one is messy), and the tuna wrap. Additionally, located in the French market, you can easily pick up some great beer to top off the dining experience. They are also willing to deliver all over downtown and have been quite timely in my experience. Stuff I didn’t like: turkey club was bland but it is turkey so… Also the salami sticks should be properly hang dried for a couple days before selling, not just stored in the fridge.

I took a bagel for breakfast from them. Guys, that was the smallest bagels I’ve seen in my life! Next, the guy at the counter put a fair amount of cream cheese on it, so I already said to myself«at least that». But then he extremely skillfully spread it in a way that left a fair half of it on the knife! I got a portion that wouldn’t be enough for a kid, for the money for which I would expect a full size breakfast. I cannot say it wasn’t edible — it was OK. My but final verdict is: ONLYGOTHEREIFYOUHAVENOOTHERCHOICE!

Decided to try out Bebe’s on a whim today! Got the pastrami special sandwich. The pastrami was good. The green peppers and onions made the sandwich interesting but the rye bread was alright. Fumare has far superior rye bread, in my opinion. Maybe the pickle that I got was bad or it did not pair well with the sandwich but I did not care much for it(I like pickles with my sandwiches). The salad wasn’t any good either. This place is expensive and I’d rather they just give me a sandwich without the pickle, the salad and the huge box and charge me less. I’d be perfectly happy with the sandwich coming in a paper wrapping, if I had to pay less. So, all in all it was an alright experience! Better and cheaper pastrami sandwiches available in the French Market.

I was there a few months ago and the food was decent. Small portions. No complaints but nothing to write home about. I can buy romanian meat and put it on the same piece of rye bread at home for a lot less.

Hot Pastrami special is delicious but for $ 11 it’s too small, especially when you’re used to delis offering larger than life sandwiches. Great combination of flavors though, no substitutions necessary! Made to order so it takes a bit of time. Love that the side of slaw isn’t smothered in mayo and has a generous sprinkle of black pepper.

I really wanted to like this place! It’s close to work, and there’s a shortage of delis west of the river. The fellow who took my order was friendly. I ordered the club sandwich and was expecting a two handed meal-and-a-half of deliciousness you’d expect from a great deli. He asked if I wanted a frequent buyer card, where the 10th sandwich is free. I declined, as our relationship wasn’t ready for the type of commitment that warrants wallet space just yet. Expectations were high though, so I awaited my sandwich daydreaming of how this had the potential to make its way into the lunch rotation… …instead, the sandwich was disappointingly small and overpowered by garlic. Garlic mayo on a club? Weird, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt. The doubt prevailed, and I’m pretty sure this sandwich should have its membership to the club of sandwiches revoked. Add in that it was very expensive($ 10+ for a sandwich with no sides or drink?), and it’s two stars.

Yummy! It was a few weeks ago when I was walking through the French Market going back to the office and saw that they were offering egg salad sandwiches at Bebe’s. It was a very long time since I last had one so I got one to take back to work. So delicious and fresh! It was also super big so plenty for another small meal. I went back again for their pastrami hot sandwich special… again amazing! Good for 2 meals. The side pickle is yummy too. The staff is friendly too. This is now one of my top 2 favorite delis in Chicago.

This place rocks! The bagels are super fresh and delicious — the perfect combo of soft inside and crunchy exterior! Plus they have a nice mix of flavor options. I suggest going balls to the wall and getting lox as well, also very high quality. For those missing New York, BeBe’s has black and white cookies! For those struggling through a cold/sniffles/flu/anything, there’s the classic matzo ball soup(which has been known to solve most if not all of life’s problems). Happy noshing!

I was so excited to have a deli at the French Market. I’m SO not excited anymore! If I am craving deli, I will not be going here(even though their latkes did look good). Matzo Ball soup, small container, $ 6.06. The Matzo ball was OK, broth lacked any flavor, tasted like water. What a bummer! Then the guy told me he’d be right with me while he continued to unpack box for awhile. I mean, who makes a customer stand there while you do side work? I understand finishing up but it took awhile and I felt it was rude to make me wait. Then someone else ended up helping. No one says thanks… ummm. If you are not welcomed or treated nicely, why would people go back? As a nice Jewish girl that loves her deli food– They need to step it up!

Came here for lunch and got a solid corned beef sandwich with a pickle and side of cole slaw. The sandwiches aren’t heaping with meat like you would get at Manny’s, but it’s enough substance for lunch. Not cheap, but a good deli by Chicago standards.

This place blows. They brought two sub-par sandwiches that looked like they were pulled out of the cooler at 7 – 11. At least they aren’t $ 12 at 7 – 11! If the sandwiches were at least competitive with the other kosher delis in the vicinity I wouldn’t shit all over them, but really the fact that they are easily the most expensive and by far the worst is just shameful. The bread looked soggy, the meat was fatty and cold, and they claim they can’t refund credit cards and offered us store credit. Probably the only way to get repeat business, douchebags.

As a Kosher Deli expert and lover of all things Pastrami & Matzah… this place is barely average. The food is just ok, but compared to the prices, quantity and freshness I have definitely had much better at most deli’s I have tried. They are extremely over priced for the puny pickles and sandwiches they charge over the top prices for, and the matzah ball soup is definitely dense and lacking. I’m happy to pay $ 10 – 15 when I’m getting my money’s worth, but these portions are the smallest I have ever seen served up at a traditional Jewish deli. I would head to fumare meats over this place ANYDAY for the packed pastrami’s, amazing matzah ball soup they serve up with a big hunk of crusty bread and large kosher dills! Maybe worth a try, but as a frequent diner in the French Market, don’t think this stand will last, nor should it.

Please look into new containers, bagels in sandwiches get really water logged and are quite gross from all the water that goes into the bagels.

Fantastic little kiosk in the French Market with kosher food and pareve pastries and desserts. As someone who is allergic to dairy, I really love Jewish bakeries. The chocolate danish here was delicious, moist and chocolatey on the inside. The chocolate dessert bar by the cashier is also amazing! It’s chewy and super chocolatey and is basically dessert crack. All of the pastry and desserts are also reasonably priced. Don’t let the fact that the pastries are dairy-less deter you from trying them. My friends who can eat dairy were also immensely pleased with the pastry! Excited for this new place and hope it stays for a long time at the French Market!
