Be Fido’s Friend

There are a lot of non profits in Chicago, and a lot that cater to animals. BFF is small and wonderful. They have amazing care for their fosters and host fun events like the halloween parade — I wish MuttHutt, their for profit daycare and retail were still open

I adopted my Lucy from BFF and they were really easy to work with. the founder is very passionate about pups!

BFF is awesome! They are helpful, knowledgeable, kind, and are truly interested in the well being of the animals, even after they are adopted. I have told everyone about how great they are, and whenever I hear someone speaking about adopting an animal, I tell them about BFF.
After our dog passed away, we decided to wait on adopting another dog (s). But when my friend, Casey, began fostering at BFF and I heard these animals stories and about the animals in need, we decided to fill out an application, just in case. I spoke to Donna at BFF, and we were hooked. The passion they both had about these animals and their well-​being was amazing. We did a trial run with Danny (now Benny), and we knew after two minutes, that we needed him in our life, as much as he needed a forever family. Before we completed the adoption process, we even met Donna on a Saturday morning at the vet to get one more look over to make sure everything with Benny was ok, and later that day, he was ours! Talk about dedication.
We loved him and BFF so much, that we did another trial run with River, and ended up adopting another angel (know known as Casey, named after our friend and wonderful BFF volunteer– it was an ode to her service and love to all shelter animals).
And it is not only the adoption process that is great– it is all that they do to raise awareness for shelter animals. Truly inspirational.
We could not be happier with the volunteers and the entire BFF Group– THANK YOU and I can only hope that more people adopt through BFF!

One day I saw a photo they posted of this adorable little grey dog in a cage saying they needed someone to volunteer to foster her so they could bail her out of the pound. I eagerly volunteered. I was so excited to pick her up — BFF arranged to have her looked at by a vet, spayed, chipped and vaccinated before I got her. I immediately fell in love with her. It wasn’t long before I knew I was never going to be able to give her back.
I adopted Poppy back in November from BFF. I am so grateful that they were able to introduce me to this little pup who I’ve grown to love as if she is my own child. I then fostered another dog through them who I also fell in love with, but this time I was happy to know that she went to a really loving home.
BFF is great. They aren’t pushy at all like a lot of rescues are. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. They offer you some bonuses when you adopt from them, like lifetime help and support for your dog among other things. They are completely, 100% run by volunteers which is extremely impressive. They recently threw a really fun fundraiser at Bucktown Pub which was a great way to give back to the rescue and all of the lives that they save.
I’ve volunteered with various rescues over the past few years, and I must say Be Fido’s Friend is one of the best ones I’ve had the opportunity to work with. I highly, highly recommend them to anyone who is looking to adopt or give back and help some pups.
