I Have A MINI SCHNAUZER Ginger. She loves the food and snacks from here. All natural products. So glad they are in our neighborhood. Keep up the great service and products.

Absolutely love this place. Ms. Laura and her son Frankie were very helpful. I picked up some frozen Stella and Chewy’s and trying to find some heathy options for treats and to help his fixation with chewing on everything and anything for my little Charlie (yorkie mix). I wanted some non raw hide options and ms laura had a wonderful variety and took the time to help me pick out some options. Everything was reasonably priced. I’ll definitely will be coming back soon.

I cannot say enough great things about this business! They are very knowledgeable and friendly and genuinely care about your pets. I have even (on occasion) found them more helpful than my vet on day to day pet issues! They’re pricing is very very comparable to the larger pet store chains (if not better in some cases) and I always seem to leave with free samples of great pet products every time I visit. It’s a quality pet store that is always very accommodating and helpful. For example, I’ve even overheard them ordering items that they don’t usual stock at the request of customers. There are definitely things you get from this neighborhood business that you can’t get elsewhere.
We have two dogs and a cat and, as a first time dog owner, I can’t express how helpful it was to be able to get good recommendations and tips from the ladies at Bark and Bites. And I’m not just talking about food or product recommendations – they have even given me advise on puppy training, grooming… You name it!

Great little shop! I have come in a few times with my friend who lives in the area and have always had wonderful service! Last time I was in I had a great talk about cat litter and trying to pick the right one for my little guy. With their input I was able to find a good one. Thanks guys! :)

The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable here. They’ve given us food samples in the past that we purchase to feed to our cat and dog now. If we bring up our cat’s allergy/​ear infection problems, they try to be helpful in suggesting different products other than prescribed meds that we didn’t think to use. We’ve brought our more-​on-​the-​timid-​side lab mix in before and she was treated like royalty. My boyfriend and I are so happy with this neighborhood pet store in Bridgeport.

One of many quality small businesses in Bridgeport. Their selection of food is excellent for the size of the store, as well as extremely friendly staff. They also carry other standard fare– toys, clothes, leashes and collars and treats and basically anything your pet could possibly want or need. Keep it local!

I really, really love going to Bark N’ Bites.
A few years back when I was living in St. Louis, I worked with a client of mine who had a cute little shop such like this and it was my absolute go to place. I was pretty bummed I would have to find a similar spot but Bark N’ Bites was the first place I checked out and the only one I needed to after that.
I’ve always had really great service when I went in there, helping with what I needed and educating me on different things I would have never thought of. From safe treats to give my baby puppy to a new dog food when my favorite was bought out by Purina — WOOF! I love it. They also have a great rewards program when it comes to food, although I was bummed when I my other food sold out as I was almost to enough UPC codes to get a free bag. I kinda wish I would have been credited for it. For how many free samples they have given me I will let it fly in my brain, ha. But really, I get it.
It never fails that I walk out of there spending over $ 100, but I can’t resist spoiling my babies with all the available treats at hand! The selection is incredible.
They also have fun toys and adorable local Chicago wears for your pups. That’s not so much my thing but if it’s yours, know it’s there.
If you’re around the area and like buying true food for your dog and love treats, especially made locally, this is the joint. It might not get better than this!

Bark N’ Bites is a small neighborhood pet store that carries high quality products (dog food), but what really sets it apart is the service. I called asking what time they closed and when I said I wasn’t sure I could make it, I was told that they’d be willing to stay late — that is way above and beyond the call of duty. (I made it before closing time.)
Quality products and excellent service at a time when its a rarity — count me as a fan.

I am so happy to live within walking distance of such a good pet shop! The owner is incredibly helpful and on several occasions has given me guidance on making my own homemade raw cat food even though it had nothing to do with buying anything from her store. But I also buy raw frozen food here (they have a big, stocked freezer) and canned and dry food (they have lots of good brands you don’t see anywhere else). A lot of commercial pet food is abysmal in general, but the selection here is curated so you can’t really go wrong with anything on the shelves, and they carry food at (almost) every price point. And with every purchase I get a few samples of new products. The selection for dogs looks just as big!

If you don’t mind a little pretentiousness with your shopping for a treat for your pet, then this is the place for you. Not that a little pretentiousness ever hurt anyone.
This place is great because the owner does have a large selection of treats that even the pickiest of eaters will be interested in and a good selection of fairly high end foods for both dog and cat you wouldn’t be able to purchase at a nearby grocery store. Along with her regular leashes, harnesses, winter gear, she has Chicago flag themed pet gear and toys, too, if you’re into that kind of thing. The prices are reasonable and she does have clearance sales every now and again where you can get things for REALLY good deals.
What I like is if you are interested in possibly purchasing an item like a sweater, or a special harness, or dog boots, the owner will go out of her way to help you and your dog to put them on. She’ll sit on the floor, ask the dog’s name, be patient and help fit and slip paws through arm holes like an old pro. If you’re trying on a harness, she’ll even walk your dog with you to see how she walks with the harness.
What I do not like is the very visible change in attitude when things just don’t work out and that big ticket item just will not be going home with you. Like if the store has an item (ex. front-​pull harness) your pet barely fits in (medium is too small and the large is too big). I simply cannot afford to take home a $ 40 piece of dog clothes when my pup will grow a little bit more and the item doesn’t just work for my situation (big puppy was very freaked out by special leash used with special harness).
I especially cannot mentally afford to have someone tell me the item I say will not work for us does actually work but «is not magic tool» and then go on to tell me I should have my puppy enrolled in a class to teach him how to walk on a leash (he is and we talked about it), AND then ask what kind of food I am feed my dogs, (maybe because most newly adopted pups who likely never wore leashes can link pulling to brand of food — «Nutro Max» «oh, we don’t carry that. But you should really be feeding him XYZ Food anyway»).
So after being there for an hour and a half, after removing the harness from my dog and deciding not to purchase it, it appears my dog’s crazy antics and attempts to retrieve treats from the tops of shelves are a lot less adorable. I still end up walking out of the store with $ 25 worth of treats because the major guilt of not buying the big item — that she and the other employee there (who is now re-​organizing the already perfectly organized leashes on the wall, not looking at me in the eye like we had a bad sexual encounter) spent so long trying to sell me on — sets in quickly. The owner is very friendly at check out, always adds a few food samples in with my purchases, and has even gone out of the way to write up some suggestion of where I could go to get my dog enrolled for a obedience class where he can be talk how to properly walk on a leash.
I vow I will never go there again but it’s among the few places I can go inside with the dogs within walking distance in the neighborhood.

This place is amazing. I took my dog in to buy her some treats and new winter clothes. Very affordable and good selection. The owner was really lovely, too. The next day my dog dragged me back there because she loved it so much!!!

Always great selection and tips from the staff. Comparable prices to other small stores and even to the big ones when you look at the «gourmet» canned foods I buy.

I’ve only been in this store once but I’ll definitely be returning soon.
The employer (owner maybe?) was super knowledgable and helpful. I just went in to browse but walked out with a handful of treats and poop bags. I love that they carry my dog’s food brand but wish they did the frequent buyer card that Krisers does. Maybe they do but I didn’t ask. It’s specific to my brand (not Krisers) so it’s possible. She also gave me some food samples because she was concerned that my dog didn’t have any fish in her diet. Turns out my pup loved the fish so looking forward to trying that flavor next.
Overall I thought the prices were very reasonable and they have a great selection! I loved the personal customer service and although someone else complained that they use Square, I love having the option getting my receipt emailed. I don’t see what the big deal is. Definitely recommend!

Bark n Bites is a life saver! My cat has had an issue with licking himself raw for as long as I can remember. I’ve spent thousands of dollars on allergy tests that have come back negative, other foods, failed herbal treatments and veterinarians telling me to just leave him be. I wanted to check out Bark n Bites since it had opened and when I finally did, I told the cashier my cat’s issue and she recommended a canned food that has helped my cat tremendously. His coat is shiny and his wounds are starting to heal. This is a great place to buy your pets what they need. Thanks a lot!

The only bad thing about this store is that it’s insanely close to home which makes it hard to stay away and not spend money.
The owners are super nice and incredibly informative. The store is just adorable and I love being able to support a local business.

The hardest thing about writing this review is being able to keep it short since there is just so many wonderful things to say about Bark N’ Bites. I have been a customer for a few months now and the experience has totally changed mine and my animals lives.
I am an owner of a small and spunky shih tzu and an enormous and incredibly blasé orange tabby cat. After trying a bunch of different things for my dogs allergies I was talking to a friend about switching him to a grain free diet (specifically Stella and Chewy’s). I called the pet store that I was going to regularly and they did not carry it so I figured I would give Bark N’ Bites a call since I had recently seen the sign (which is not super visible. I had no idea they had been in the neighborhood so long.) I got Laura on the phone and explained to her what I was looking for and why and I’m pretty sure we talked for 30 minutes that day! She was incredibly helpful and genuinely interested in the health and well being of my animals. I have been a loyal customer ever since the first phone call.
Based on Laura’s recommendations I have been able to finally get my shih tzus allergies under control. In just a few months I have seen results that even my veterinarian didn’t anticipate.
Aside from being an adorable store front, Bark N’ Bites carries everything one could possible need for fit and happy pets. Laura and all of the staff are amazing and not only super knowledgable but also incredibly patient and are always willing to go that extra mile for their customers. It’s refreshing and rare to have a business with such passionate employees.

What a great store. Today was our BIG day this store is all that. From the staff member Kim, too all the special treats that your. Dog can try out. The prices are great. I got alot of treat for my pup. Most of all the food selection was the greatest. We had a wonderful time will be going back for more great treats .Oh yeah and if you really wanna. Show your pet some love get them some fresh homemade dog cookies.
