My girlfriend and I went to Bar Celona with our Groupon, which, admittedly, is listed for four people. When our waitress came to get our order, we presented her with the Groupon and asked her if it was ok, she responded that it was fine and she would take our Groupon at the end with our bill. After we asked for the check at the end of our meal, we presented the Groupon and the waitress took my smartphone with the Groupon displayed to redeem it. She returned a few minutes later with my phone and told me that the manager refused to honor the Groupon for two people even though we had been previously told it would be accepted before we ordered. Had we known that our Groupon would not be honored as stated, we would have left before ordering, and we certainly would not have ordered as much as was listed on the Groupon value($ 50). The waitress had asked twice about this matter and was twice refused by her manager, despite the initial agreement to honor the Groupon, so we paid the bill in full and left. So, not only was the place mediocre, at best, but we were deceived by the staff. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, even with a Groupon or other discount, though I doubt these would even be honored at all.

Really like the ambiance of this bar, and they had a dj playing music so it doesn’t get better then that.

This is a solid place on Clark Street, but it gets the 5 star rating based upon how they dealt with an incident that went down there on Friday night. My friends and I showed up and were having a good time, but as we were about to leave we noticed that one of our friends’ coat and purse had been taken. Playing a hunch, the doorman worked with me to secure a similar coat and purse which had been left behind, and together, we were able to get everyone’s stuff back intact. He could have just decided not to help me and my friend out and not made it his business – hell, he had plenty of stuff to do at the end of the night – but he and the bartender did a great job. Now the night can just be chalked up to being another crazy anecdote about a night out rather than a commentary about how effed up living in the city can be, or how people don’t care or just steal from you. Great job, guys.

I went to Bar Celona for their $ 1 tacos. We got there and ordered a drink and a few tacos. The waitress brought over some chips and salsa. We ate a few and I noticed a spot on the chips looked like mold. We started looking through the chips and realized they all had mold covering them. Needless to say, we cancelled our tacos, drank our drinks as fast as we could and got out of there…

The manager was very rude and unprofessional. The waitress had us order more food to equal the amount of our groupon, then the manager said the groupon was not valid since the bill exceeded the amount of the groupon and we could not pay in two forms. We ended up ordering much more food than we would have and ended up paying full price. I worked in the restaurant business for over 5 years and never heard of such poor management. They are using groupon as a scam to get business, as these strange«rules» were not In the fine print of the groupon and she was unwilling to explain. Service is very slow even though the restaurant was very empty. I will never eat at this restaurant again.

Saturday afternoon of bar hopping trying to find a place to kick back and enjoy some beverages and food. Dropped in here and sat in the front. Nothing going on here and the menu did offer anything that I wanted. We had a drink and hit the road. Just did not work out.

Stopped by for a drink and a bite. The place was empty on a Saturday afternoon, so we had the window to ourselves. The drinks were great, but the cleanliness of the place and the menu’s, left much to be desired. I was not comfortable eating here, so it was one and done.

A group of us went here for NYE, and I cannot stress enough how disgusting, overcrowded, and just generally terrible this place is. In fact, I made my Unilocal account solely for the chance to review this place. After finally making it inside the bar, receiving a drink took about 30 minutes. The syrup in their soda was off, so my vodka and sprite was undrinkable, or, as one of my friends said, «It tasted like bug spray.» The VIP table we paid extra for was taken by other people who were unhappy to let us sit there when we arrived and tried to refuse to leave. People kept sitting their empty drinks on our table once we were able to sit there, so the entire time we were surrounded by everyone’s garbage. A fist fight broke out next to us when we tried to retrieve our coats from coat check. We didn’t even stay at this place for a whole hour before deciding it wasn’t worth it to wait until midnight. What’s more, when we looked into getting a refund for our tickets, the owner of the bar blatantly lied to the partnered company they sold tickets through, claiming that he personally and immediately removed the people who had taken our VIP table and that the bar wasn’t even crowded at the time, despite the fact that we never even met him.

Just a generally strange place… an Oregon themed tapas sports bar that also has no beers on tap… head explodes.

Last night a friend and I headed to Wrigleyville to play some trivia, upon arrival the bar was packed and there was no where to sit so we headed back out into the cold winter’s night in search of some libations and good eats. We meandered down the street and ended up at Bar Celona, drawn in by the great specials they had to offer($ 12 fishbowls of sangria, $ 5 calamari, $ 5 quesadillas, $ 5 martinis and $ 3.5 coors lights). Upon entering we were immediately greeted by the bar’s very friendly manager. As soon as we were seated they gave us chips and salsa(their salsa is out of this world!). We noshed on those and made our first round of choices, an order of calamari and a white sangria fish bowl. The sangria was light and refreshing and the calamari was very unique and tasty. I was especially impressed by the homemade red wine sauce that came with the calamari. Other friends joined us as the evening progressed. Many of them sampled the martinis which were the only complaint of the evening. The common consensus was that they were pretty watered down but no one was too upset about this because of the great price of the drinks and the fact that we were all given complimentary bombs(can’t beat that!). I also have to note how great the service was. Our waitress was a constant fixture at our table and unbelievably helpful and friendly. She also said she’d only been there a week so we were extremely impressed. I’d definitely recommend Bar Celona. Great deals, great staff, a great place all around.

Just went here again recently with a few friends and was pleasantly surprised that they have a whole new menu. It’s tapas style, so smaller portions, but everything we had was fantastic We had Marinated Skirt Steak, Quesedillas, Chili Garlic Shrimp and Bar Celona Wings. But my favorite was the Spicy Diablo(the calamari is delicious!) The service was great, Rafael is awesome. I will definitely be back for more food… next on my list: try the bacon wrap dates.

I rolled up here on a Saturday night with a friend of mine. The crowd seemed to be in some sort of identity crisis– I can’t quite describe it. But I know I liked it. The bartenders were nice and I really dug what the dj was a spinning. But the drinks. Oh man. I’ve had stronger cocktails in church.

What does a «U Call It» even mean? Apparently it’s anything you want for $ 3. But why does this matter? Everybody else on the strip aren’t doing any drink specials because there was a game that happened over 12 hours ago. Oh and everybody who works here has an accent which makes it really cool.

I think a person born in Wrigleyville and never having left it would be a funny premise for a comedy sketch or witty story. Like they’d believe: Spanish cuisine includes wings, hamburgers, and jalapeño poppers Italian dining also includes onion rings, quesadillas, and Mac and Cheese Thai also consists of sushi If you close your eyes and click your heels you’ll see a bar or fro yo shop steps away. The Cubs are the greatest team to ever play baseball EVER(I actually kinda agree) People day drinking or puking on the sidewalk is normal. Just a typical game day/Saturday/bachelor or bachelorette party It reminds me of that Brendan Fraser movie when he escaped after living in a bomb shelter his entire life and thought it was all 50’s like. High jinks ensued. Anyways, Barcelona is like that. Not especially SPANISH as the name would indicate, but quite Wrigleyville. The menu is entirely American and Mexican. We ordered: Pitcher of Sangria Typical, kinda sweet but we aced it ASAP then ordered beers Crab Croquetas Crab cakes with chipotle cream sauce. I didn’t expect to like it but it was good. Club Sandwich With lettuce, tomato, red onion, cheese, smoked turkey, prosciutto, and chipotle aioli. He liked it. Chicken Fajitas With red and greed bell peppers, red onion, sour cream, and guacamole. Prettah, prettaaaah good. But if a place bungles fajitas? So I’ll try it again since they have live music. And the service was good and food okay!

One can’t complain about the weekday dining specials at this stylish Wrigleyville lounge/restaurant, but the service is annoyingly inconsistent. Twice in one week, I experienced an issue with the waitstaff chatting amongst themselves in a corner in lieu of providing any sort of timely customer service, i.e. doing their job. Both times the place was not overly busy. On the first occasion, I brought a friend in for dinner on a Friday night and we sat for approximately 10 minutes without so much as a greeting, let alone a menu or a server. Instead, four of the employees were gathered around the front of the bar slacking-off, laughing and having a grand old time. My friend was so disgusted she insisted that we take our business elsewhere and I can’t say that I blame her. The second time was the following Tuesday night when our server started out well enough, leading me to believe that my previous experience was a fluke. Alas, my companion and I were made to stare off into space whilst waiting 15 minutes for our bill while the young lady in question chatted it up with the bartender at the other end of the bar, both of them completely ignoring the patrons for a ridiculous amount of time. I would have taken up this persisting concern with the manager after it happened twice, but he was far too busy leaning on his pimped ride out front, texting away obliviously. Skip this place unless you have all the time in the world and don’t mind paying for ostentatious unprofessionalism.

I love Bar Celona — the bartenders are friendly, it always seems to have a good amount of people there — not crazy during the week, crazy on the weekends. Tuesdays have long been $ 1 taco night — however in a recent update — we have switched over to Bar Celona’s dollar taco’s and 2.50 coronas. The tacos are bigger, jucier, and more flavorful. They also don’t charge for sour cream which was the case at the last place. Last night was the first time I introduced my taco loving friends to Bar Celona’s tacos and 6 for 6 they chose Bar Celona over the old tacos spot.

Ehhhhh, Bar Celona was okay. I went in on a Friday night with two friends. We found a table near the front easily, and despite unsettlingly wobbly chairs, we were comfortable. Aside from the Parade of Creepers on the other side of the window, and the salt-and-pepper gentleman who repeatedly asked me how the ATM worked(I was sitting next to it, but I did not know how to fix it), the crowd seemed pretty relaxed. It was funny to see a random assortment of punk-meets-emo girls flirting with complete bros. Not something you see every day. We saw that fishbowls were $ 12. The three of us were excited about this prospect so we ordered one. But did we want sangria or margarita? Margarita! But which flavor of margarita? We were excited about such options and finally decided on a strawberry margarita fishbowl. Problem was, when something seems to good to be true, it often is. It was pretty nasty, and my friends agreed. Also, our waitress was nice and smiley, but she gave us the check no more than five minutes later without asking, and she also checked on our table no fewer than three times to «see how we were doing.» AKA to get us out of there, despite the fact that it was not crowded and people were not aching to get in. There are so many places that are marginally better at least, and despite its cute name, Bar Celona is not a specialty tapas/sangria place, and it is really just another too-dark bar without much to say for itself. Addendum: The Packers were on TV. I’m not a huge football fan, but I’m still a fan of Da Bearssss. Also, we were near a major Chicago team’s stadium, so that was slightly ironic. Oy vey.

I was only here for a drink and it was a Wednesday night, so I probably didn’t get the full feel of this place. I had fun and it is a nice bar, with kinda cool seating, but I don’t think I would come here again on a weekday. It’s a little too«Saturday Night» for my taste.

What a fun play on words… Bar Celona… lol. I could see that really confusing drunk people late at night. I met some friends out here on a random night for a few drinks and then doing the usual wrigley bar hopping… this place is pretty nice, the waitstaff and bartenders are really cool and friendly. I was starving when I got here so I ordered a steak quesadilla… wow… it was soooo good! I was surprised actually how good it was. It came with this chipotle sour cream sauce stuff. YUM. Thats about it since I didnt stay here too long. Cool place though.
