B&B Cleaners

Ms. B&B is a sweet lady who sends out her hemming and cuffing to an excellent husband-​wife team. She may have raised prices recently — the first time I got cuffs it was $ 20 but the last time it was $ 22. Excellent job both times as well as $ 16 hems. As previous Unilocalers have pointed out — you’re coming here for the lovely experience of interacting with Ms. B&B, for which you will pay a bit of a premium, and the fact she takes credit cards without a minimum.

I took 3 skirts and a dress in to be tailored. The dress and 1 of my skirts turned out well. However, 1 skirt, which needed a new hem, did not. You can see the entire hem line on the outside of the skirt — the original hem was completely hidden. Also, I had a long skirt that needed to be hemmed a few inches and at first glance, the hem looked great. When I tried the skirt on later, at home, the skirt was still far too long — as if it was never hemmed. I took the skirt back to the cleaners to express my disappointment and expected the owner to fix their mistake. Not only was I told that the skirt was hemmed & that I must have worn it higher on my waist when I was measured by her (in case you were wondering, no, I do not wear my skirts up to my bra line), but also she uses a 3^rd party to tailor items. Therefore, her company was not going to pay the 3^rd party again to properly hem my skirt. So I either had to pay again or go elsewhere. Needless to say, I was not going to pay another $ 20+ for their mistake. I will definitely not return to this place. I will stick with Stellar Cleaners from now on.

We have been going here since we moved into the neighborhood in 2009 and they never disappoint! Always friendly, quick service, and never any mistakes! It’s the first dry cleaner I’ve ever been loyal to… They also do sewing repairs — EXCELLENT!

I’m giving them four stars because it’s the average of two separate items: alterations and the dry cleaning service. First, the alterations… that is five star service! This place is very reliable, efficient and skilled when it comes to alterations. She did an amazing job on both a pair of jeans and pants. Very satisfied. The dry cleaning service I give them three stars. The quality is ok, but the prices are more expensive than other nearby places.

I now live in South Africa and was looking for an expert tailor to make major alterations to my favorite sport coat during a short visit back to Chicago. Mrs B did a perfect fitting job on the jacket the very first time. Also a bottom had fallen off during the trip back home. She replaced the button and reinforced all the remaining buttons on her own.
Found the store via Unilocal and others comments. Thanks to all for the great comments. My jacket was finished on the date promised and fits better that it did when I first bought it.

Mrs B saved my best winter coat after I caught the pocket on a doorknob and ripped the nylon shell open. She had me stitched up so well I couldn’t even tell where the repair was! She had to show me where she made her stitching.
In on Friday, out on Monday night. For the 12.50 it cost, she saved me at least 100.00 on a new coat. She’s a total pro. And she’s the nicest lady on planet earth.

A real pro. I had a shirt altered and couldn’t be happier with the results. Highly recommended.

This is the best cleaners I have ever used, not only because Ms. B does a fantastic job in a timely manner, but also bc you are greeted with a genuine smile every visit. She is the sweetest lady and can really help out if you’re in a bind and need something cleaned asap. My highest recommendations to B and B cleaners!

This place is a lifesaver! I went in one morning frantic due to my bridesmaid dress not fitting properly. Ms. B laughed and then reassured me that it would be no problem to fix it! I brought it in on a Tuesday thinking it would take at least 2 weeks or so to fix (which the wedding is in 2 weeks) and she said she would have it by this Saturday.
I picked it up and it fit! No problems at all! Seriously life saver as I am a procrastinator. HIGHLY recommend this place. Ms. B is the sweetest woman!

Owner is the sweetest woman in the city, I live walking distance from here so it all makes perfect sense. Always done on time as promised, quick in and out every time.
I would give a 5 star but coat cleaning is a little expensive at $ 18. Shirts are very cheap, and she does a great job.

I love the owner, Ms. B! Dry cleaning, alterations, free parking (!) you name it. She is amazing and so very sweet.
I live close by; I’ve taken in my work clothes for dry cleaning, my pants for hemming, a dress for tailoring, and I’ve always been impressed by her services. Most recently, I used B&B Cleaners for wedding gown pressing. You read that right… wedding gown pressing. That’s how confident I was that my wedding gown would be in good hands. After I received an outrageous quote from another cleaning company who, in all fairness, do specialize in wedding gown pressing/​cleaning/​alterations (ahem, Davis Imperial), I just couldn’t justify the price to «de-​wrinkle» my dress. Ms. B gave me a very reasonable quote, and my dress looked FANTASTIC on my wedding day.
Highly recommend them!

The owner is quite possibly the nicest woman in the whole world.

This place is like heaven! Mrs. B knows what customer service is all about. I travel a lot for work on a minutes notice and she makes it possible. She provides quick turnaround on last minute items and she will box your shirts for travel. What more do you need? I tell everyone I know about her. Do yourself a favor and give B & B a shot. You will not be disappointed! Keep up the great work Mrs. B!!!

Great establishment. Every time I walk in, I feel as though I am at home. Great customer service, and my clothes are always the way I like them. Keep up the great work!!!

The owner is a very nice lady. She doesn’t try to sell you on anything extra than what you ask for.
She did my wife’s pants hemming. She did a good job.
She also cleaned my winter jackets and although a little pricier than some other places, it too was a good job.
She will give you a reusable laundry bag to keep your dry cleaning in.

Ok, so I wanna let you know: MRS. B IS DA BOMB! I had taken this Calvin Klein dress in over and over again for another alteration shop to fix the dadblasted zipper. It was not brain surgery, yet they were like «Can’t Get Right» no matter how many darn times I brought it in. #sheesh! Well, Mrs. B. hooked it right on up the first time and charged me TEN BUCKS. My girl! She also was my go-​to place after CD One Price on Ashland did me wrong. (another post: but CD One Price has since made amends. :) I had been taking this one sweater to CD One Price for damn near years and it KEPT coming back with fuzz balls. Hell, I thought that was just the way it is UNTIL I took it to Mrs. B. She hooked it up! My sweater is now FABOO! It looks brand new. GREAT JOB!
To sum ANOTHER one of my sermons up, her alterations and attitude were just wonderful. I loved her on the spot! Now, her dry cleaning prices are a little above the norm for me, especially when El Cheapo Arse over here has been used to CD One. But, one thing I will say, they are WELL worth it. You MOST DEF get what you pay for. To be honest, her prices are even a bit lower than what dry cleaning prices normally used to be before CD One Price cornered the market on «cheap and fast.» And, what is that old saying, «Either you can have fast, good or cheap but you only gonna get 2, so beat it with the BS!» (or something like that…*sigh*…but hey, again, you get my drift.)
Will I take all of my alterations to her? You bet!!! All of my dry cleaning? Um, not so much… I wear my clothes one time and still like them fresh EVERY time… so CD One Price will still be on my speed dial. HOWEVER, ANYTHING of major value will ABSOLUTELY and POSITIVELY go to her. Or, if I have something that needs more than the perfume steamed out, yep, you got it: Mrs. B. is THE girl for Miss Bee. :0)

I had two pairs of jeans shortened with the original hem and they look great. They were ready when promised and she was extremely friendly. I will definitely be returning.

good dry cleaning service, alterations available (haven’t tried), shoe repair available (haven’t tried), run by an adorably friendly woman. prompt service, reasonable prices. only quibble – let the owner know if you don’t want her to write your last name inside the bottom left-​side front of men’s shirts. all in all, great … and fantastic location! here’s to supporting blooming ravenswood businesses!
