I never write reviews, but my experience was so bad that I had to warn others. My diagnosis is that Percy may be a nice guy — but he’s way over-​extended. He was always putting out other fires, so his communication was severely lacking and full of excuses. I caught him in numerous white lies along the way.
I purchased an old boat in the spring of 2015 — which ran well all summer. In August, when lining up the storage contract, I notified Percy of my erratic trim indicator and leak by the sensor, along with a list of other repairs/​projects for which I wanted quotes during the off-​season. I also asked him if he recommended any other items. Given an old boat and unknown maintenance history, I wanted to make sure we had time to deal with whatever we found when we opened it up. I started out very patient. Alas, winterizing and shrink-​wrap didn’t happen until after the first snowfall in late Nov. and power-​wash of the bottom, (which was to occur at haul-​out) wasn’t completed until late May. Emails and texts went unanswered for months and the quotes (floors, gel coat, canvas, electrical, etc.) never came. He had numerous excuses. I ended up doing many repairs myself — postponing others ’till next year. He finally started on my outdrive this month (June 2016), but then refused to finish it. A week later, my boat was dropped with the disassembled outdrive («boat in a box») at another mechanic that I found, who is piecing it back together.

Total pros! Percy is not only a master of everything maritime, but also a good trustworthy guy. Highly recommend.

I have a great friend who has kept his boat here and worked with Percy for years. He speaks very highly of the quality of service he receives and of Percy himself. I have met Percy a few different times; he has always been incredibly friendly. It is clear that he works hard for his customers. My friend bought his boat used, and Percy has been crucial to keeping it in great shape.

Worst service ever. Percy may seem like a guy that knows what he’s doing. He may a bunch of fancy boats on his lot and talks up a good game, but he couldn’t even handle changing ignition points to automatic points.
I reached out to Percy in May 2015 for a tune up and points change. No problem! I give him all parts and think this job will be done in a week… and that’s being extremely fair. A month later, I FINALLY get my boat back and the boat only runs in REVERSE. After that, I take it back to Percy who claims we did something while starting the boat. I’ve had the boat for four years and have never had an issue until now.
Mind you that now it is July and I’m furious that I can’t ever get a hold of Percy. He’s never on his lot nor at the harbor or ever by his phone.
Finally in August, I get a random call from some guy who supposedly works with Percy. I missed the call, but after attempting to return the calls, nothing ever again from them,
I retrieved my boat in September water-​logged (he left it uncovered) and still being worked on with equipment in it.
I sued Percy for the boat and for the repair costs which I won by default.
This guy is a scammer. He’s not bonded, insured or licensed in the state of Illinois as his company was dissolved in 2011. If you want your boat in working order when you get it, go somewhere else or take the time out to Wisconsin. Because Percy won’t do a darn thing for you but give you a headache.
I implore you to look up on Cook County Clerk of Court’s website and type in AQUAMAN MARINE in the defendant line. You’ll see I sued him for this crap.
Now I have a half ass boat that may not work. But it’s ok… I’ll sue if it’s irreparable from his neglect.

Simply the best; Percy and his team are experts! They give five star service and are subject matter experts. They put your best interest first and are a great business to work with.

Great five star service. Percy has a great, accessible yard west of Andersonville and it is perfect for trailer boats. He stored our boat and also winterized at a fair price. Best of all he is very customer focused, with great response time. His invoicing process is fast and easy. They gave me a very good price on a wash and detail. Most of all he is just a nice guy.

Percy is hands down the most amazing boat mechanic. Not only did he make himself available for emergencies on short notice, he can service our dual Volvo engines. We unfortunately were unaware of the issues with the Volvo XDP outdrives at the time we purchased our first boat. Percy was able to find a marina short notice to pull the boat out, he even drove it himself while we had to work during the week. He has just been an absolute pleasure to work with throughout the process of finding new outdrives to replace the discontinued ones. We will call Percy and Percy only for all of our boat needs. I would NEVER let anyone else do the work. Very happy we found someone so amazing.

I was referred to Aquaman Marine from some other boaters at Burnham after I got some ridiculous quotes from other boat mechanics. Not only did Percy come out within 4 hours, he had my boat fixed and back in the water in three days, having worked overnight at my request so the boat would be ready for a large client outing. The work was exceptional, and he even saved me some money on parts. This guy wont screw you AND he really knows what hes doing — which is rare with boat mechanics. I’ll recommend him to everyone.

Finally, a boat mechanic you can trust. I’ve worked with Percy for the last 13 years and he had my loyalty. Percy actually looks at the problem and tries to repair it. Yes preventive maintenance is a must, and when I do not listen and it goes out, Percy is just a phone call away to help trouble shoot the issue. I highly recomend Aquaman Marine Inc.
