I’ve been going to Dr. McDermott for almost 9 years now and I’m so happy I’ve found her. She cares for my husband and our daughter as well. I’ve been to a few MDs trying to find one to listen to me and help me figure out why I had gained so much weight so quickly. One MD told me to go on the South Beach Diet. Really??? Well Dr. McDermott ran numerous blood tests on me and then referred me to an endocrinologist who found out that I needed to have a set of my parathyroid removed. If it weren’t for McDermott pushing to find an answer I wouldn’t have known I have a thyroid deficiency. 1st time she helped save my life. Christmas 2010 into New Year’s 2011 I was sick with what I thought the flu, leading into one morning in the new year I couldn’t get up out of bed I was in so much pain. After 3 other MD’s in the ER at Swedish Covenant sent me home unable to find anything wrong in the labs done, she had me admitted to the hospital after a MRI was done. I wasn’t holding down food or liquids much, I was in excruciating pain and 2 days after I was admitted I wound up being intubated and put into a drug induced coma. She worked around the clock with the infectious disease doctor assigned to my case, come to find out I had a VERYRARE strain of salmonella that also caused me to become septic, my kidneys were shutting down and I also had an abscess in my S.I. joint which was causing the pain to where I couldn’t walk. I was literally dying and no one could figure out why. I had food poisoning, and because the infection was already in my blood, when I slipped the day before on black ice and caught myself, it went into the joint also causing an abscess. I was intubated for about 4 days. After I was brought out of the coma, eventually taken off the ventilator and taken out of ICU and into a normal room, I remember a few times during the very early mornings like 2 or 3 am when I couldn’t sleep I would see her come up to where I was, hear her talk with my nurses and then she would come check up on me. When I asked her if she was on call she said no, she had some patients charts to take care of still in her office, but she also wanted to check in on me. Needless to say I survived because of her and the other doctors. 2nd time she’s saved my life. She takes the time and listens to all your concerns. She also suggests trying homeopathic remedies before even prescribing a medication if its possible. She REALLY cares about her patients. She’s one of the sweetest MD’s I’ve ever met and she’s amazing with my daughter. My husband can be super picky with people sometimes, but he really likes her too. She’s so thorough! I highly recommend her! If she’s reading this, DR., I can’t thank you enough for all that you’ve done for me and my family.

Dr. McDermott and Dr. Maxsouris’ new office practice is called M&M Family Health Care. If you want to go to a Doctor who is efficient, educated, kind, and who actually LISTENS to all of your concerns, call this office and make an appointment. Six years ago, I picked Dr. Mc Dermott’s name out of a book of providers from my health insurance company, when I moved to Chicago. I am so lucky to have found her! Dr. Maxsouris is not bad, either and she speaks Polish, too.
