I came here with my cat for a grooming session.
The entire process went just as expected and my cat’s haircut is perfect! I was looking to try a new hairdo that I had only seen online and my roommate informed me that the groomers at ACC had experience with it since a previous customer had asked for it before.
I called in to book an appointment and was given several time slots that worked for me. I chose Saturday and was the first to arrive at 730AM. There was no wait and I gave my cat to the groomer, Niolani, right away. The grooming came with a general checkup and I was also able to get my cat’s annual vaccines updated.
Having gotten my cat back, I can now also vouch for their experience with custom cuts and must add that they are very good at what they do. The look was exactly what I had requested and there are no signs of cuts or bald spots. I have brought my cat to Meeow Chicago in Wicker Park in the past and they charged me $ 100+ for an uneven, disheveled trim (a lion cut would have been even more expensive) but at ACC a lion cut was only $ 60 and they didn’t charge extra for the specific style I asked for.
Because of my own time conflicts, I wasn’t able to pick up my cat for 12 hours but he was very calm and not agitated at all upon returning home and being let out of his carrier. He is now more energetic than ever before after having 2 pounds of fur lifted off his back and his new do is bringing all the ladies to the yard.
Side note: my roommate is a doctor at ACC so if you lookin’ for a good time (for your pet) request Dr. Ohtomo!

I have been taking my pets here for at least a few years and have all confidence in the doctors, groomers and everyone else I’ve met with so it’s still a great place to bring your pets. But beware, its now turning into a true business, as if they needed more money that bad. Just one example, I’ve never in my life gotten a collection agency notice, and it came after I had paid it. A new strict person (s) running it means it’s only going to get even more expensive, create a lil animosity here and there, maybe drop a star or 2. Too bad it’s being tarnished like this because there are great people working there that truly care for our pets.

This place is cheap, and you can tell right off the bat. Rude and disorganized front desk– 5 people sitting around with no manners. Vets– look like they just got out of school, a bad one.
I brought my dog here just to get shots. They required an exam. Vet looked at him and I mean just looked at him. They knew I had a annual Bordetella shot and still provided me with a 6 month shot, so more wasted time and actually not cheaper when I found this out. (Who knows if they even provided the shots?) I’ve been critical of other places, but this one is by far the worst. They get one star b/​c they got me in and out of there quickly, but that’s b/​c they didn’t really give my dog an exam.

Best Vet we’ve found in the city for our 2 year old Great Dane. Staff is always nice and very helpful. The facility always appears spotless. The best part is… no appointments necessary. Walk-​ins only and I’ve never had to wait more than a few minutes.

Don’t take your dog here for anything but the most basic, preventative care – like yearly shots. The model is no appointment, serve as many people as possible, which means you get a different vet every time and there’s little continuity. This can lead to major problems. My husband and I took our dog in several times within a short period of time for recurrent UTIs and vaginal bleeding. Each time, a different vet put her on antibiotics and one time anti-​inflammatories. Not one of the many vets we saw suggested that there might be a more serious problem and in fact from vet to vet, they didn’t seem to be on top of our dog’s history. Something didn’t feel right to me after multiple visits with more questions than answers, and we found a new vet. Within 48 hours of going to a new vet, our dog was diagnosed with a «textbook» case of bladder cancer. All of her symptoms make sense now. Animal Care Center missed it entirely. Very sad, frustrating, and disappointing. Not to mention costly. Our dog is on a treatment regimen now, but her prognosis is grim. It’s very hard to think about what could have been had been diagnosed earlier. Beware.

Animal Care Center in Chicago is the best! You can just walk in whenever you need and do not need an appointment. They have great hours and you can even come in on the weekends. The staff and veterinarians are all great. I’ve been here over 15 times and I’ve always had a great experience. The wait is never longer than 15 minutes to see the veterinarians and they always are very thorough with my animals. They always have peanut butter in the back if your dog is having a hard time ;)

I have been coming here for six years but the quality has gone in the past year. Four hours for a bath is ridiculous. This has happened twice now and it’s my fault for returning. Their selling point is «no appointment necessary» but clearly they get way too backed up without them so it is necessary. I have also had my dog turned away for boarding for the same reason.
Oh, and the did the wrong bath package.

ATTENTION ALL PET OWNERS!!! If you live in the Chicago area I suggest you take your pet ANYWHERE else but the HERE. They not only misdiagnosed my dog on Sunday, the 8^th but then when I returned on the 9^th, they refused treatment (which was due to financial issues, but that shouldn’t mean «close your doors to animals in need»)and sent me off to another vet that was CLOSED on Mondays. Terra passed away that very afternoon. These so called «vets» couldn’t care less about saving lives. They’re obviously in it for the money. You would think that after asking them to save her and if need be, put her up for adoption because I couldn’t pay up front but their response was that I either pay $ 600 of a wildly huge $ 1600 bill or pay for them to put her down.

Don’t go here! I know vets are all about the money but this place is a scam. Took my dog for a neuter. After its all said and done I was told he had a tooth pulled. The tech up front tried showing me where but couldn’t find anything and tried telling me my dogs teeth were bad. Then she gets on the phone and starts whispering some stuff to a doctor. This dog was a rescue and they still pulled this nonsense.
I switched vets and she tells me his teeth are so good she thought he was two years old but turned out to be four. What a scammer this animal care center is

Thanks to all staff !!, i had to put my cat to sleep and it was very hard on me! but the delicate way your staff handled me and the sympathy everyone showed me was so compassionate. and the card i received with signatures was very special THANKS!

After taking my dogs to 3+ vets in Chicago, I found ACC. Other vets that I tried in the area didn’t seem to be a good fit. I wanted a vet that was reasonably priced and provided the best care for my dogs. A neighbor recommended ACC to me, and I never looked back. I have never had to wait longer than 15 – 20 minutes, and I feel like they truly care about my pets as opposed to increasing their bottom line with superfluous charges. They automatically send in the claim form to my pet insurance, and they are extremely responsive via email. in fact, if there is something suspicious going on and one is on the fence if it requires a visit, one can send in a picture for further direction on whether to come in. This works out well for a hypochondriac pet owner like myself :)
The hours are accommodating to a variety of work schedules. They are open early, late, and on weekends.

DO NOT come here for grooming, especially on Wednesday!!!
I made appointment on Monday, and i was put on Wednesday’s schedule. That’s not a problem. So i brought my poodle there early in the morning on Wednesday. (about 9: am)
till 4pm and i still didn’t receive their call to ask me to pick up my poodle… so i called them and was told that my poodle won’t be available till 6−7pm… i told them that i brought my poodle in since 9am… and they said people brought in at 6−7am… and they have 14~15 dogs today…
err…excuse me, i thought i’ve made an appointment on monday for Wednesday’s schedule.
Anyways, i went there at 6:20pm and i still waited for another 30 minutes.
My dog was terribly tired, severely dehydrated (his gums were all red). Once we got home, he crazily drank water and lied down like he was dying,.
That was not all… the groomer… i don’t think she knows how to groom a poodle! May be she was tired or did not have enough time (of course…14 dogs a day!!!) The ears weren’t cleaned, the anal wasn’t cleaned either. buttocks area was badly irritated (all red). And she totally didn’t know how to groom a poodle! She didn’t even give him the basic poodle face and poodle head!!! (i swear that i am not picky at all)
My opinion, 1) they shouldn’t check-​in so many dogs when you have only one groomer. 2) if all the dogs are just waiting inside (may be caged), why ask everybody to bring in the dogs before 9am??? if you know that there are already 5 dogs being checked-​in, you can ask me to bring in the dog in the afternoon. 3) If you are charging me $ 75, i expect the groomer has the basic knowledge of clipping a poodle.
But i have to say that the groomer on Sunday was good, (i forgot her name) but definitely not the groomer on Wednesday…
my poodle is already 5 years old, he grooms every month and this time is the worst worst ever experience that he’d ever had!

I just got off the phone with ACC and I felt compelled to get on the computer and write a review. I have had so many positive experiences that I needed to let others know.
I became a dog owner last October (2014). I took our little 7lb yorkie in for his check up and shots and everyone there was wonderful. The staff in the front was pleasant and professional and the Vet was outstanding. The Veterinarians are caring and patient and don’t try to sell you a bunch of products like Banfield seems to.
I have since decided to foster dogs and it’s no coincidence that the rescue organization I foster for also uses ACC for their dogs’ needs.
ACC neutered my yorkie and helped me understand everything that would occur before and after the surgery. They made me feel as comfortable as I could be. They’ve also assisted me with a soft tissue injury as well as allergic reactions that seemed to come out of nowhere.
Jodi is our groomer and she always does a fantastic job. I love that I can drop him off in the a.m. and grab him later in the day.
We are moving a few miles away this month but I’ll still make the drive back. They are open early and close at 8 on weekdays and have weekend hours — I can’t ask for more.
Kudos to the entire staff — you’ve helped make my first pet owning experience a great one.

We brought our 2 chihuahuas here while living downtown in the West Loop for about 2 years. QUALITY care for a GREAT price (better than others in area). The vets, techs and reception really love animals and we’ve never felt uncomfortable leaving our dogs in their care. They’re great about taking free questions over the phone and even helped refer us to a dog trainer/​behavior specialist who helped save our sanity. BELLY APP used there for reward points for free things (nail trims, dog treats). Moving away, I really hope we find a vet with the level of care we have received here. NO complaints about this place, which I know isn’t common in the business of caring for your best friends:)

We brought our dog Noah here after moving from the north side to the West Loop. We went in on a Saturday and because you don’t need an appointment we expected it to be crowded. To our surprise, we only waited about 10 minutes before the doc was ready to see us! We saw Sabrina Kuo and she was amazing! She answered our questions, checked out the dog and gave us all options for treatment. She didn’t push us to just do the most expensive thing, and she gave us her honest opinion and advice. She was friendly and gentle in handling our pup (who was acting rather shy while we were there).
When we were ready to check out, we asked at least 497 questions to the girl who was helping us out. (I asked her name but I suck and already forgot, she was tall, had very short dark hair and glasses). Anywho, she was super friendly and knowledgable and was patient with us even though we were taking up a lot of her time! She answered everything from «is that painting done by a local artist?» to «which wellness package makes the most sense for a 5 yr old king cavalier spaniel?».
We felt so comfortable there and instantly knew this was a place we felt safe bringing our furry child!
They even have nail trims ($ 5 on Thursdays!), full grooming services, doggy daycare and boarding options as well!
I would DEFINITELY recommend giving this place a shot!

I have been taking my foster dog here for 2 months. He came to me with a bad case of happy tail (bloody open wound at tip of tail that he constantly licked/​chewed) that ACCC treated (2 – 3 visits per week for treatment and wrapping). Happy to say the tail is now completely healed and hair is growing back in. Best part is that he leaves it alone and doesn’t lick/​chew it.
Staff is always friendly and attentive. I appreciate the long hours that they are open and it is nice to be able to stop by without an appointment. Wait is never more than 10 – 15 minutes. Any time his tail wrapping came off before he was scheduled to come back in for a bandage change (changing bandages on my own was impossible as he freaks out), they would replace free of charge.

If you love your pet, consider a different vet. I’m not saying all doctors here are bad because I’m sure ours was an isolated event but again, is it worth the risk? Personally, I would rather find a vet with 1 or 2 doctors I know I can rely on and trust. Unfortunately after my experience, I wouldn’t trust them with a gold fish.
I adopted a 2 year old boxer a month ago. He was heart worm positive at adoption and needed his second/​final round of treatment. Heart worm is as ugly as it sounds, and after seeing what they go through I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.
Because I live in the city, the adoption center recommend this vet as it’s just a few miles from my place in River North. I assumed they did their homework and went along.
We were told his second round would consist of two shots and a two night stay in order to observe him and make sure he was ok post shots. Since they don’t accept appointments we were told to bring him in as early as possible the day of. We brought him in at 8am and waited 20 min which wasn’t a big deal since we wanted to wait and speak to the doctor before leaving him.
They had us in our own waiting room before Dr. Bennett walked in. First observation, she didn’t even acknowledge our dog who was completely stressed out. Second observation, she had NO interest in speaking to us. Disinterested, not rude is the best way to describe it. I asked a few questions, her responses were very short and with each answer seemed more and more annoyed that she had to talk with and answer our questions.
When we walked out, my girlfriend said to me, «I hope Dr. Bennett likes dogs more than she likes speaking to their owners».
8 hours passed without an update so I called them at 4pm. Dr. Bennett answered and said he just received his first of two shots about an hour ago. So basically we dropped him off at 8am, he sat in a cage for 6 hours before they gave him his shot. The whole point of taking him in early was so they would keep a close eye on him post shot. Waiting til 3pm meant they would only be watching him 5 hours before everyone went home for the night. I asked why they waited so long, her response, «we had other priorities». Again, this is after dr Bennett told us at 8am how dangerous the shot can be. I asked how he was and she said he was in pain so they gave him some pain relief in a pill.
Now I’m extremely worried about him knowing in a few hours he would be alone. I requested they give him one more pill for pain before they left for the night which she agreed to.
Anyway, this review is already to long and I could go on and on but I’ll spare more details. Lastly, he smells like he was in a cage for two days laying in blankets that haven’t been washed in many years.
I’ll end with a positive, the front desk staff was very friendly and helpful throughout the process.

We found this place thanks to Unilocalers and they have been awesome. We started going to our current vet because we had a coupon and we’ve always had good experiences, plus we live close to them now. BUT, they don’t do ear crops, so we had to find somewhere for that. Well, turns out you have to go there a lot for ear crops, so now they’re our best friends. Since we started with the crop (which turned out BEAUTIFULLY), our adult boxer now has a very nasty eye infection so we’re there a lot. I would highly recommend these guys to anyone looking for a vet. They’re worth the drive if you have a car, and it’s a no brainer if you live in the area. LOVE US SOME ACC!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about ACCC! Shyla lovvvvves going to the vet. Everyone is so nice and helpful and very direct about timing and pricing. Doctors are super helpful and allow you to email and send pics if you have concerns before telling you to come in (or not to worry!). I have called before and left messages, and the doctors always call back and are happy to explain things to a worried dog mom! They even do the shots in the room with us since I asked, that way I can watch and distract Shyla, and so that Shyla isn’t scared of going in the back with the vets. Super accommodating!
Used to go to Family Pet Animal Hospital, which was only 3 blocks from us (our doctor was quite rude, so left and never went back). Animal Care made us realize that you can actually LIKE your vet, and so can your pet!

Well, to say I am disappointed is an understatement.
I wanted to get my cat checked out because he had a build up of plaque on his back teeth and his breath was terrible! My husband called and asked all the appropriate questions… they stated they would be running a special in Feb for teeth cleaning… FYI its $ 195. Also, my kitty had to get an updated rabies before they would do the cleaning.
They tell us to show up at 8A and they will check him out and give him the rabies and then clean his teeth if needed. I show up, answer a few questions, they take me and my cat to a room and ask a few more questions regarding getting extra tests… all of which I decline. Then they swoop my cat in his carrier away. I ask how long it will be and the tech answers a couple of hours…
Waiting, waiting, waiting… my husband finally calls them at 130P to see whats the update. They say all went well and I can pick him up after 3P.
I show up, no surprises except that when they give me him in his carrier, the two blankets that were in the carrier were gone. I ask, the girl goes in the back and comes back and says the tech threw them in the wash and I could come back for them. I asked if they could just pull them from the laundry or deliver them to my place because I didnt want to make a special trip back there.
Alas, she goes in the back and magically there was one of the blankets… not washed. So I asked about the other… which unfortunately was the one that my niece knit for the cats (kind of irreplaceable.) And to no surprise, they could not find it. Now, the problem being… I have had blankets in their carrier for years… never had a problem when I go to my other vet, groomers, etc. but here I do.
When I ask what they are going to do about it, Jackie responds I dont know… and just stares blankly at me. Then she states that they usually tell people that they will try to keep personal items of the animals but they may not be returned?!? HUH??? Never, ever did the lady tell me this. There was no signage stating that they are not responsible for personal items and I definitely did not sign off on this. I would have taken the blankets and left them in the car. I was trying to comfort my kitty who already hates the vet as is. Its like letting your baby have a blankie. Also, if they are this careless with items, how did they treat my pet while I wasnt there. And he had toothpaste or whatever all over his fur… it looks sloppy and is definitely lazy. Both of which are my impressions of this place.
When I called to speak to a manager, they stated Michael would call me back in a few minutes. Well, a few hours later, the lovely Jackie called me back. She was so rude and condescending on the phone. I actually said that to her. I am now waiting for her to call me back again because she had to call her other manager that magically isnt in the office right now. Shocker. Along with lots of other snide comments that were very passive aggressive on the phone.
****update-​no one ever called me back. Literally Jackie was on the phone with me pretending to be a receptionist. When I called back, they just said someone would get back to me… never did. Uncaring jerks! I would not go here! Terrible customer service… which based on the recent reviews… this place has went down the tubes!
Although they are reasonable in price and you dont need an appointment, I wont be a patron of this business again.
